PBS, even just internally, does need to be able to justify its expenditure. And ultimately this channel simply didn't have enough reach to make it worthwhile. Public services do have to care about whether they're actually doing enough good for enough people, or if that funding is better spent on something else. And this channels' content is, well, pretty damn niche.

As a current physics-math double major, this channel meant a lot to me and I always looked forward to getting a sneak preview/behind-the-scenes look at what was to come in my courses or a glimpse outside them. It grounded otherwise nondescriptive names of fields of study and helped me choose what courses to take and what to expect. And, of course, provided that special kind of uncomplicated excitement toward math that popularized math content is so good at awakening. Budgets need to be balanced and I am not surprised to see Infinite Series on the chopping block, but know that I'll miss seeing you in my subscription box. Thanks so much, Kelsey, Tai-Danae, and Gabe.

There's a whole ton of good stuff in the archives that's well worth watching and engaging with. As a minor aside, one of my disappointments with KZfaq as a platform is how they've tried to emphasize new stuff and content creators that are putting out new stuff. There is a lot of value in a body of work that remains relevant over a long period of time. Carl Sagan's Cosmos is still relevant and interesting decades later. Old episodes of Three's Company, not so much. As a contemporary example, the slo mo guys produce really interesting thought provoking videos about once every few months. But, because of the way KZfaq works, they churn out videos once every 2-3 days. Finding the good stuff in amidst all the stuff that they did because KZfaq doesn't like content producers that only produce once in awhile is annoying. So, browse the archives of this show. Practically every episode is an interesting gem of knowledge. And there are a lot of episodes there.

Michael Sommers That's like saying if I buy a coffee from Starbucks, the batista is actually paying the money to the company, because I gave the cash to the batista not directly to the Starbucks bank account. There's a middle man yeah, but that's a technicality. Or it's like saying the police make laws, not Congress, because Congress pass bills but then pass it down through middlemen and the police are the ones who make arrests

+duffman18 _"That's like saying if I buy a coffee from Starbucks, the batista is actually paying the money to the company, because I gave the cash to the batista not directly to the Starbucks bank account."_ No, it isn't. You are giving your money to an agent of Starbucks, who is obligated to give the money to Starbucks. The CPB, on the other hand, does not have to give any money to PBS, and they do give money to other organizations. They could even take the money they give to those other organizations and give it to PBS if they wanted to, thereby raising PBS's funding, even if CPB's funding were cut. _"Or it's like saying the police make laws, not Congress, ..."_ That makes no sense at all.

I don't know what to say. This was one of my favourite maths channels on KZfaq, right up there with 3blue1brown and Vsauce1's maths videos. The way you presented these topics was very palatable and even as a Master's Student of mathematics I found some new understandings of some topics you covered, and more intuitive ways of explaining things to laypeople. It's very saddening that PBS Infinite Series is coming to a close. I know this change is very likely permanent, but I'll cling onto the small sliver of hope that this type of mathematics content on KZfaq can resurface again from a diverse source of content creators. I can't claim to even begin to understand the logistics that forced this channel to cease production. But what I can do is wish the both of you good luck on your future endeavours! You've been excellent hosts and I'm going to be really sad seeing this channel go. It's especially disheartening that you didn't manage to get to the topic of category theory since category theory is really underrepresented on KZfaq, and I was really hoping you'd do a video on it so one could point to your video as an accessible point to start at when trying to get into the theory. But if PBS Digital Studios has decided this channel isn't worth keeping around anymore, I shall respect that. Again, thank you for these episodes! And good luck on your future projects and whatnot!

I can't believe it!!! The Greatest channel in the history of KZfaq is going down because PBS studios care more about popularity and money than sharing intellectually challenging content and inspiring people to think. I can't describe how much I'm disappointed, I really felt like the content was getting better and better. We should start a crowdfunding campaign online; this channel must survive with or without PBS studios help.

Stuart Spence until now I really appreciated PBS, but I think that what they have done is an enormous mistake. PBS studios can keep this channel alive if they want to, they might lose some money, but they have enough seccessfull channels to cover that up. This channel is the most important project they have ever done, I don't think they even realize what had been accomplished throughout the short life of this channel.

I'm really sorry to see this channel go. It was one of my absolute favorites. I'm glad that the entire channel was handled well - from the start to the content, from the host changes to closing. I wish all of you who are involved with the show the best of luck. We definitely are in need of more challenging, engaging, and informative content like this.

I’m reading all of these comments and there are several people sharing opinions on which hosts to blame and why, so I would like to use this comment to thank ALL of the hosts for blowing my mind and pushing me outside my normal boundaries. I think you all did an excellent job and hope to see you pop up again on other projects.

What sad news for such a great channel - Thanks Gabe and Tai-Danae for an awesome show! I enjoyed the topics: your leading us through the tricky, mind-bendy parts and the interesting ideas like aleph null, omega and cardinality of the continuum. I really look forward to your future endeavors! Best regards!

I’m an art professor teaching, among other things, algorithm based art making. Infinite Series was huge in helping me up my math game to a level where I could not only talk to but also teach science and math students who are also passionate about art and who want to find ways to combine the two things they love - art and mathematics. You will be missed Infinite Series.

Well crap. Much as I love Numberphile the audience engagement in the comments in this, and SpaceTime are what make them really stand out as KZfaq shows (come on Eons). *shakes fist at world*

☹️ Sad to see you go. My time watching your videos has been like an Archimedes Spiral: I feel like I’m going around and around the same point, watching it again and again, but then I realise I’m far beyond where I started. Thanks for making that growth possible. PS: I Hope PBS makes some more Maths stuff! Even Crash Course Statistics keeps it ridiculously low level
