As a foreigner who has lived in SEA for 22+ years, I'm happy that they stay home and most of these Asian countries/people don't like them either. The govts do because they bring in money for taxes. It's more than just money for most. They don't respect other cultures. They're dirty (spitting, etc) and throw litter everywhere. As a previous poster stated, "How much is the CCP paying you?" Also, they don't go out and spend their money in private establishments, they only go to places their tour groups have set up for them so the only people that are making the $billions are the tour groups and the places they have contracts with. BTW, having just returned from Vietnam last month, the S. Koreans have replaced them big time!

She went back to New York at the end of last year but is booked to go back to China in February. She's been solo travelling all across China and loves it, I'm so envious of her. As tourist in the U$???? I won't go again even if they pay all my travel expenses. My reason. Decades ago, I went US in California living at La Habra the City of Brea Harbor Blvd. It is my America dream since my teenage days to go to US hope to live for a couple of years or even migrate there. But unfortunately, it doesn't work out for me and my America dream ended up a nightmare. I really can't remember how many times I was told by the locals especially the whites telling me "Hay! Asian, go back to your Asia" Many racist names calling on me. And I was chased by a gang wanted to beat me up because I have lost my way and happened to drive into a white residence area. After living for about few months, I decided that this is not a country for me been I am an Asian. People are very racist especially against Asians. I finally packed and returned back to my home country and never look back again. Not even if I am paid to go.

You made the right decision. I too wanted before to migrate to the US. I am glad now that I never got myself to do it then. Had I done it, it would have been the biggest regret of my life by now. I find living in America now to be a dystopian nightmare. I live in Asia and travel to a different part of China once or twice a year for leisure. I can always go to Europe every 2-3 years. But never to America. I think I am in the right place in the world now.

i am European and I am ashamed about the behaviour of European media and politicians. The racism that exists in our countries have been strengthed over the years by false propaganda in mainstream media and also by americas film industry. When one looks at the number of dead people by country of the second world war, the communist countries have by far the most dead people, and knowing that US only took position against Germany when Russia had defeated the Germans, one has to wonder if the 2nd world war was not triggered by the US to exterminate communist countries.

Example in France, where several case of violence have been perpetued in Paris the past few years, and this has actually scared a lot of tourist. now the western hate policy that they have been applying, have even pushed further this feeling of not wanting to go to those country. Also, a lot of Chinese are now very disapointed by their visit in western (which is always portrait as magnificient, clean...) but the reality catch them when they arrived at destination. Town such as New York, Paris, Milan are overall average dirty, smelly, and somehow dangerous for travellers that usually travell with lot of cash. but you are right, western politician have provoke all of this. now tourist will be local, and probably south america or Africa in some near future.

There is no longer any "rule of law." The police do not respond. Most cities are to dangerous. Once the sun goes down the danger drastically increases. @yaoliang1580 - Don't misunderstand. Americans are led to believe they are free. However when you look at an International list of how free countries actually are. America comes in at number #39. Americans in general do not dislike the Chinese. However our elected officials task the media to blame everything that is going wrong in America on someone other than them. The media is more than willing to do so. So we are to believe Russia is bad, China is bad etc. So far it has worked. But reality is a bitch. This will likely end in spectacular fashion. But watch out when dealing with a cornered dog. If all else fails our government will take us to war and blame our enemy for all our woes.

Northern Thailand had a lot of that's with Chinese ethnic backgrounds so they're not 'feared' like a lot of places ... Also, despite the newly elected government being somewhat 'questionable' on whether it would move closer to the USA and abandon China, looks like it's taking the logical decision and going for what's good for Thailand (ie. I agree with you, I travel in China many times, and about more than 95% tourist are local Chinese, it is so convenient for them to travel any where in China, High speed rail, air plane (so many new modern Air Port pop up any where to far Xinxiang) , local Metro lines, and they feel comfortable speak their own language. I would not want to travel to US with all the looting shooting racist you name it.

Smelly drains is still a problem in many older Chinese cities, that smell is comparative to Paris LoL. My grandparents has a house in an old district in Guangzhou. Last time I heard, the council is overhauling the underground drainage system. For the section outside the house, it took the workers merely 5 days for digging / replacing / recovering.

I live in Portugal, before the pandemic, there were lots of Chinese tourists visiting here. However, even with the end of the pandemic, the flux of Chinese tourists hasn't recovered to the previous level. The reason for that is the waiting time to get a Portuguese visa, you have to wait like 2 or 3 months to be attended. So the Chinese just give up coming here.

I went to Mumbai (Bombay then) for 2 weeks. Many of the people with me came down with diarrhea, some to the point of needing evacuation. I had a cast iron stomach and was not affected. On the way in to the city I saw apartment blocks with many which were obviously unoccupied! I asked some of the Indian people I met and they said apartment owners never rented their apartments out as it was very difficult to collect rent or to evict the tenants. They'd rather keep them empty while waiting for apartment prices to rise. Then there were people sleeping on roadsides and occasional (very often) sight of bare bottoms relieving themselves. Especially at night you'd catch them in the headlights as you drive. The food was cheap and good as long as your constitution can stand up to the local bugs. I wouldn't go there again though. Once is enough! Begging was endemic and organised. I was told that begging was under the control of the "beggar king". I went to visit a temple and there wasn't a beggar in sight. As I was leaving I discovered a line of hundreds of beggars. It happened to be lunch and there was 2 men coming down the line. One doled out rice and the fellow behind carried a pail of orangy brown curry. Each beggar would get a serving of rice and a fairly generous dollop of the curry. Looked fairly palateble. It takes organisation to feed the begging hordes! The story was the beggars had to surrender daily takings in return for food and a place to sleep under shelter from the rain. I gave money to the youngest of a group of beggar boys, from the safety of the bus but was shocked to see them descend on that boy! After that I didn't give to the beggars again!

India and China are the perfect examples for having had a Tommie-douche Gandhi in office, who's ridiculous "passive resistance" is the wet dream of every colonizer, or a real man like Mao Zedong, who kicked imperialists' bottoms, to give his people food, education, housing (inclusive warm water and toilets).

Jerry, you are so right. I am in China now, end of January 24 and I have just got back from a week in Chongqing. When I say back, I mean back to big scary Wuhan! I spent the first three days here before going to Chongqing. Next, we head to Tongshan, about an hour east of Wuhan, where we will celebrate the Chinese new year or Spring Festival with mother in law and the whole family. None of the Western commercial crap like Christmas has become. Just good wholesome family time. Any way, Chongqing was bulging with Chinese Tourists, I run into an Expat there and the word was school holidays had been a booming time in the region. Oh, on the word of visa's , my stepson applied for his Australian visa and it was approved in a week. I was mistaken for an American several time's and my wife jumped at them, he's not, he's Australian... They looked for a minute then said good, Australia is trying. The whole attitude of them changed from one of "if I must serve you", to "have a beer on the house", or other thoughtful gesture to make amends for the attitude before. I was OK with them, I told them I understand and I agree with them. The Western Nations will crucify themselves.

Prior 2020, I used to make at least 1 leisure trip to Europe every year for 10 years, together with "spontaneous" weekend trips here and there like Japan and Taiwan. After the pandemic, I have not made any trips at all and I don't have any plans for this year either. One of the reasons is the anti-Chinese atmosphere in Europe, it didn't just happen overnight though, I've witnessed and felt the change gradually since 2017. Excluding air tickets, my wife and I would spend an average eur. 30000 each trip, why would I spend my money in places where I'm not welcomed nor wanted? As for Japan, my wife used to be a big fan until Japan insisted on releasing the nuclear contaminated water into the ocean, which we both found such act being distasteful and irresponsible thus, we stopped going there.
