The End of LittleBigPlanet | PlayStation Announces LBP3 Server Shutdown

PlayStation just officially ended support for LittleBigPlanet.
As of April 19th 2024, LittleBigPlanet 3 for PS4 was added to the decommissioned server list on PlayStation’s official website and a statement was made on LittleBigPlanet’s Twitter announcing the game’s permanent server closure.
This was the last way to play LBP online officially, and fans are understandably upset.
10 million community made levels published over 15 years, all gone with no warning whatsoever. A sad and unfortunate end to what was such an amazing series.

That was my childhood. From Jeff The Killer and all the other horror levels, all those survival levels like Killer Whale Survival, those RPG levels, minigame levels, and all the unique levels out there, and even the story levels and the messing around on the moon. This franchise brought me so much joy and fun. It's heartbreaking to see it go. Farewell LBP.

LBP was my childhood, my first game I ever played when my mom got me a PS3 as a kid, thankfully we have emulation and a wonderful community of game preservationists to keep LBP series alive and still able to play online with friends with custom servers and most of the original millions of levels saved to community

There goes a big part of my childhood.. This makes me fee lunimaginably sad and empty.. roughly 10 years ago my ps3 broke and i was going to get it fixed one day so i can finally play little big planet again.. Now thats just another fleeting dream fueled by just another burning memory..

When I was little, my mom used to take me to a place called “bogcentralen” with was a small store in my home town Horsens, in Denmark, it had a lot of used games to all consoles, and one day my mom bought me little big planet, I played it a little, but back then i thought I was too old for a game like that, I never thought about the game since, now seeing this video made me realize how nostalgic that game and the time was, sad to see it end.

I wasn't there for the rise but did play the countless levels the game had. I remember the absolute trash horror map sessions, copying eachothers skins, killing eachother at the slightest chance, always getting the least points. It was fun.

Ya'll remember playing that super power city game? Someone also made a 1st person version of COD Ghosts on there. This was literally my entire childhood, and I played it with one of my friends before he moved without warning. I played the story mode so much, my favorite was probably the dog guy. Newton had such good character development, like it was the best story I had played when I was younger. Goodbye, Sackboy. You were always the best mascot 🕊

You people need to STOP OVERREACTING. Obviously this is a huge blow but LittleBigPlanet isn’t close to dead. I barely played the online levels as a kid, the campaign and messing around in the level creator was my childhood and that’s all that really matters to me. You’ll all just have to learn to love the other parts of the game.

The levels i made for my moms birthday? Gone forever. Glad i played them while the servers were up for one last time. The levels i made with my friends? Gone forever. The memories we all made werent profitable enough for the developers to keep the servers up so they decided our memories must die with the snap of their fingers. My water park themed level, exploration levels, platformer levels, driving levels, all dead and gone. Thank you media molecule and sony for doing nothing to keep the memory and dream of littlebigplanet alive. I wish i had the foresight to have backed up my uploaded levels.

LBP2 was my favourite. A story about sharing things and not hoarding everything, it is a shame nobody can share things with each other anymore. A great creative outlet for many people from artwork to music to tech.
