I love how Max found a new appreciation for Remake and how he enjoyed it more. Watching Max play through Rebirth is what I've been looking forward to the past year. I cannot wait....his FF7 videos of any kind are what keep my spirits up during times of darkness IRL. His passion for FF7 warms my heart and resonates with mine and I am so happy we will all experience this together. I love his community.

I also appreciate FF7R more this time around than when I first played it. I played it when Intergrade came out. Over the past 3 months I platinum the og FF7 and this FF7R. I watched AC for the first time last week and I about to finish Max's Crisis Core Reunion playthrough soon. I probably won't finish Dirge of Cerberus, but I feel like I'm prepared enough for Rebirth in 2 days. What a goated series. Funny how I only got interested in FF7 after completing Xenoblade Chronicles DE for the first time in 2020. At the time I didn't know they had a small connection.

This is near the end of chapter 17. The rest of chapter 16 and most of 17 are missing. All the Hojo stuff, the drum, and the Jenova fight.

God I love this cutscene before Rufus fight. Cloud being a hero instead of pretending to be one. Barret acknowledging him. Rufus being smug AF. Perfect

57:30 So...here's a harrowing thought... It's currently implied that in order to see/hear the Whispers, you need to make some sort of contact/connection with people who can already see/hear them. Currently the confirmed people who can see them are: Aerith, Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Red XIII, Jessie, Biggs, Wedge, and Rufus Shinra. However, there's one more that is implied to be on that list, who has made contact with at least three of the confirmed people: Marlene. The reason why Marlene being able to see/hear the Whispers is so harrowing of a thought is that the Whispers paralyzed several of the main party with their scream, so how do you think little Marlene was doing during these moments? Oh well, all we can really say for now is that she seems fine in the aftermath.

First I will play Rebirth on my own but holy shit, I can't wait to watch Max's playthrough.

That final fight is just god damn satisfying, the music, the intensity. Love this game.

And with that my replay through is over too. Genuinely such a blast playing along side you(Max) getting extra lore, moments, and motivations of characters along the way. I hadn’t played remake since launch in ps4 and to replay it all is something I won’t forget. Shine on dude :)

For the most part I think that in OG 7 all the times we see sephiroth, except for in flashbacks, is actually jenova communicating and interacting with humanity trying to bring herself back. And in all the expanded games/movies and even here we can see jenova being hyper focused on cloud, the human who beat her. The human who fought off her mind control. She wants him, and that is reflected in her sephiroth form. The only thing that doesn't line up is that very end when sephiroths demeanor changes, and all I can think of is that is the real sephiroth making plans behind jenovas back.

This same guy who complains that a bunch of the enemies die too quickly so that you don't get to enjoy fighting them, complaints about boss fights taking about 10 minutes or less as "dragging on too long". Are you serious with this? For the record, I also completely disagree about the side-quests too, and I'm also tired of hearing people say that. They add charm and investment to the game and expand the world as a place I feel like I live in, thanks to it. Kotaku's article complaining about how Rebirth's quests ruins the game and how splitting the game up into a trilogy "isn't how it's meant to go" I also think are a load of crap, too, and I saw another mouth breather in Kotaku's comment section saying "Remake's side quests were the worst part of the game and Rebirth is even worse." All I hear is "oh no, bro, there's too much video game in my video game."

Maybe Max or the editing team will notice a huge portion of chapter 16 and a good bit of 17 are missing.

Both in this ending and in rebirth's ending Sephiroth absorbs (1:34 circa) the Meteor or a Meteor "reality" before the final showdown.

As someone who’s first experience with FFVII was Remake, it is insane to me to think that there’s another chapter to this already incredible story. It is insane to me that it would be possible for me to love these characters even more than I already do. And yet, in just a few short hours my copy will arrive, and it is insane to me, to bear the wait.

i just dont know who that last version of sephiroth is in the last cinematic fight,he seems to be more of his former self before he went crazy. but thats probably to much to hope for. my theorie has also always been that sephiroth let himself get beat by cloud everytime but i dont know why,the developers also kind of hint at that when they said sephiroth never used more then 50% of his full power and when he telekeneticly pushed cloud into a wal of rubble point his sword at cloud but does nothing also hint at the fact he could have killed cloud at anny time.

I like to think one of the reasons the final chapter is named destinys crossroads is punctuated by zach and cloud and the party literally crossing paths right at the end. I can’t wait till Thursday

Fun Fact: In the OG game, most of the reason why the journey happened was cause Cloud was pushing hard for it to happen thanks to the Jenova cells in his body manipulating him into chasing after Sephiroth. But now, we also have Aerith saying that he needs to be stopped. She's also pushing for the group to defeat Sephiroth.

You know what's funny? The whispers somehow are still as much or less crazy than the Weapons of the original game.

That Tank boss fight is a pain in the arse on Hard. I had another name for that boss. I wish I knew about the ice damage exploit in the later stage of the fight. I had Shiva but I used her too early. It was nice on Shinra's part to leave fuel in their museum exhibit vehicles for that wild escape 😂

played this a year ago and i felt like Sephiroth was a too omnipresent. Constantlyshown, thre is not a bi secret about him. Especially since you fight him this early. But now just watching it and not having the adrenalin pump i gotta say: what an amazing fight especially with the outlook, that the next time might not be so "easy" and what a beatiful ending. I am afraid i might have to replay this too before the Rebirth PC Port comes out.

Hey Max (and everyone else), You must have played this version before the newest update. They just changed aeriths last line/the last line in the game! Instead of the line saying “I miss it, the steel sky” , they JUST changed it to “this sky.. I dont like it” or also now the scene runs so choppy and slow. I came to see your reaction to it haha but you played the older version. A lot of people are wondering about it so maybe its some more content for you to discuss!

I bet in Max’s first playthrough, when he did all the side quests, he was much closer to level 40 when he fought Sephiroth, as opposed to 35 here. Makes a big difference.

What if Sephiroth planned on bringing back Zack aswell as Aerith planned on being ‚alive‘ in Zacks timeline? Big 5D chess game between those two. And the reason why Sephiroth brought him back was because he needs him as he needs Cloud to „defy destiny together?“ or become stronger?

Oh my god I just now noticed. When the Harbinger fight starts you see the wisp tornados rip all the structures out of reality basically, it's not destroying anything, its ripping out copies. Zack's timline had everyone die from massive tornados in the trailers. I think our fight here caused those storms in Zack's timeline.

For wedge, that means he's dead, right? The ghosts knows he should have died when the plate fall and now they are correcting it. That's why we hear glass shatter as he falls.

My second playthrough was way more enjoyable once I knew what I was doing and it led to doing challenge runs soloing hard mode.

You 100% don't need counter stance against Sephiroth. I never used it once and he was still easy. You just need to punisher mode counter him constantly.

Barret's Deadly Dodge is basically a shotgun blast

Being few hours into Rebirth you are now, Max, I couldn't help but 😂😂😂😂😂 at 5:03 to 5:21 😅 If it makes it a bit better, I totally messed up in the beginning of this fight too with all them hits.

I’m pretty strong and at work I could lift a girder about 1 foot from the floor and carry it several feet, I don’t think the strongest person in the world could lift a girder to their shoulder and walk around with it, they’re solid steel, they’re awkward and weigh about 200lbs, like a 200lb barbell you can get a grip of, but a girder is really hard to hold

Cloud doesn't kill Sephiroth in his 'mind prison' at all in the original game. He kills Sephiroth in the lifestream. This time though, Sephiroth ISN'T in the lifestream, and has transcended beyond it after Cloud killed him. It is Cloud that needs to die for Sephiroth to be truly killed, as Cloud is Sephiroth's chosen avatar.

I think at some point we're going to see a Crisis Core 2 which shows the events of Zack surviving. There's no way he survived all those soldiers without being Sephiroth or alternate beings intervening.

Multiple sephiroths. Sephiroth the soldier that goes mad and more or less dies. Kill humanity rule earth. Sephiroth that is the jenova puppet, literally jenova speaking with sephiroths voice and face. Eat earth and move on. Sephiroth the enlightened, a sephiroth that has died and come back empowered by jenova and is trying to do something we don't know.

Well I will play normal on the first run since I love to have the option to grind and overlevel stuff. It will be hard enough in the 2nd playthrough on hard anyway
