Holger Hovemann has created and developed one of the most brutal Monsters in European Hillclimb Racing. Taking bodywork based on one of the most popular cars in the Berg-Cup series, the Kadett C, the engine used then on this machine is the V8 from a Lotus Elise GT1 unit (dubbed LT5), here producing 805Hp/9.500Rpm. Much of its underpinnings come from the Corvette ZR-1 and it is pretty much one of the most ambitious projects of the last decade in European HillClimb Racing. Unfortunately, 2023 will be the last year of this Iconic Monster, with a massive Crash at St. Agatha HillClimb leaving it damaged beyond repair and Mr. Hovemann taking a year off before returning with a new project. For all true fans of HillClimb Racing we will always be grateful to enjoy this true Beast on the European Hills.

EH not really there was one here in norway that had a twin turbo chevy 5.7 liter sure it only produced 25 Hp more then this one but yeah done make statements before you have all the knowledge

@@falahsamisyahdan7962 well it was a pretty tame tune it coulda easity made the same power or more with the right setup in N/A form but i think the twin turbo thing was more to be cool and be a little easier on the engine as high compression engines are under much more stress

I feel gutted this wild monster will never again roar on hillclimbs. It's trully the coolest and most awesome Kadett there ever was but let's not be sad it's over,let's be glad a car like this happened and we enjoyed it in years it competed.

@@hillclimbracingfan5821Well you can buy new Kadett its dirt cheat and V8 small block 7.5K but main problem is all that work it takes months to do:( And i hope he add AWD this time because if iam correct i saw this car nearly crash few times in past.

@@joe125ful It was never easy car to handle to begin with and that’s also what i like. Because it really gave that widowmaker vibe,pretty much in same way like Schwaiger’s Porsche,Krupa’s Fabia or Schagerl’s Golf do.

@@hillclimbracingfan5821Mhhmm yes but i dont like it because why build race car that cant be driven easy and well to be still competetive,this not make much sense to me. Sure in track days this type of car can wok for some fun but in real race you need grip,much downforce as possible,best weight balance etc. its like compare Mustang and Subaru,Subaru be slways better platform for racing. Maybe this is reason why EVOs are slowly meta now.

Very unfortunate. This car was always a treat to see (and hear) in your hillclimb coverage. It will be sorely missed going forward, but I'm sure whatever Mr. Hovemann comes back with next will be just as good as this Kadett.

Took me a second to realize it’s a C4 ZR1 engine. What an amazing motor it is indeed. I own a 1992 ZR1. Next year it’s getting a Lingenfelter 415!

In Australia they were sold as Holden Gemini only option was a 1584cc petrol and a diesel. Great little cars could have done alright against the Ford Escorts etc but they never had any real factory support. Lots of fond memories.

LT5, and yes, this is the Lotus-developed, Mercury-built V8 made for the Corvette ZR-1 that also found its way into the back of the Lotus Elise GT1.

@@joeinmi8671 The problem with building them is they're so damn rare and expensive that there's almost no aftermarket support for them. If they were built in the same numbers as something like the Coyote, we'd definitely see more of them. GM almost had something similar with the Northstar, but between its head gasket issues and exclusively being used in Cadillacs that particular motor never had a chance either.
