I'm currently working on creating a Knights of the Old Republic based Mini-Series using Unreal Engine's Virtual Production Capabilities. The first step is creating a trailer sequence as proof of concept before we begin work for the full series.

@Wickem Why the fuck would they remake it in Unity? No, the job ads state Unreal Engine 4. The vastly superior engine in technology and ease of use. Unity has a bad reputation in the AAA space. Namely because there isn't a single giant game that uses it on the market with as big a status as KOTOR. So you should be disappointed because it won't use Unity, but fuck knows why you would be.

Pokemon BDSP is made in unity, its a AAA. not the best example, but I think we'll be seeing more from unity in the future

As a game designer, I had pretty much assumed that like most games from the early 00’s, the level design wouldn’t hold up to modern tastes, let alone be a good basis for a short series, but this really does look impressive. It’s incredible how talented BioWare used to be with their level designs, before the dark times, before EA.

I love that this is happening. My dad is really interested in the old republic storylines because the characters show up in a mobile game he plays but he's not ready to commit to playing through the full KOTOR games. I think your mini-series is the answer. Looks gorgeous can't wait to see where it goes.

One thing I always loved about KOTOR was that all of the uniforms and armor were unique to the era! it wasn't just slightly different stormtrooper armor and slightly different Imperial officer uniforms. The ships had a different form than anything we have seen in the movies. the uniforms were clear and distinct while expressing the individual values of their governments. I never liked the way they made things look in the Old Republic MMO it just kind of devolved back into the traditional art style. These models released show that the simple designs from Kotor don't look bad or unpractical even when put to a high resolution. I really hope we see more Sith trooper armor in Canon at some point, it's really a cool and unique set.

God this is great, if only they could get you doing something official so you don't get stepped on like the KOTOR remake and are properly rewarded for your work. Lucasfilm and Disney really ought to be doing this type of stuff and it's great to see dedicated people stepping up to show them how it's done!

That passion he had in the original trilogy I fell in love with in 94. That sense of escape! Keep it up! I actually did some writing (and rendered the opening crawls) on a KOTOR machinima trilogy that used the original game engine and assets as the foundation. Three 2+ hour films took the best part of a decade to finish. The main guy behind it is now working on a prequel about the Mandalorian Wars. In terms of the story, we basically cut most of the sidequest stuff, cut Juhani from the story completely (she has a cameo in the third movie but that's it) and structured the whole thing like a proper Star Wars trilogy. The second Calo Nord fight ended the first movie, the Leviathan sequence ended the second movie and for the third movie we actually created a new opening and basically removed the Rakata subplot from the final planet. If I remember correctly, the first post-Dantooine planet we went to was Kashyyyk, (which ended the first film), then Manaan (though we only used the very end of it to show the passage of time between the first and second films), Tatooine and saved Korriban for last as we thought it was more interesting for the MC to go there after they had discovered the truth.
