One interesting theory I saw on reddit is that Irv is listening to Ace of Spades over and over while painting so this memory leaks into his subconscious more powerfully with the use of music; and that he might show up to work one day with a cd player (or some other music device) with only Ace of Spades on it. Irv's innie then gets curious and plays it, then subsequently wakes up from the song, remembers everything his outie was trying to implant about the testing floor, and unleashes hell starting a new wave of the innie revolution. 😱 Probably speculation but super interesting because of the way music works with memories and the brain. Also, You should definitely read the Lexington Letter that Apple released, it gives a lot more context on Lumen and has fueled a bunch of theories! Absolutely love this show and can't wait for season 2.

Haven't seen anyone discuss the "raising of the goats" room adding more suggestion that Lumen is researching cloning/growing individuals. Sheep were some of the first animals successfully cloned. Also, haven't heard discussion about how flat and affect-less Gemma is, and yet MDR is assigning emotion (as humans) to random digits and bits of data. Guess: These are recorded experiences of "shells" like Gemma that are being annotated with emotions by MDR to be able to add emotional experience to newly grown individuals.

Helena was severed just hours after Petey disappeared. But 5 days later, Petey said he was reintegrated for 2 weeks which means he was going to work reintegrated for over a week and no one noticed. But when we see him reintegrated, he can barely function and even though he ran away from the person that supposedly reintegrated him, he says he trusts the people that did it. This could mean everything Reghabi said to Mark was a lie.

Reghabi said to Mark that if Petey followed her instructions and did not run away, he would have the negative consequences of the reintegration under control. He probably kept going to work and following Reghabi’s instructions for 2 weeks, but then something scared him and he ran off.

I really liked Severance and binge watched it. Another minor Easter egg was when Heely was in the ladies bathroom before she was to give her speech and the bathroom was very dark and behind her was a vase of red flowers. In that scene, it looked very similar to the hallway that John Tutturro's character kept painting. Such a great show! And your synopsis is insightful and interesting.

I think that they will reset their memory,or erase the part when they came out. They did that to Irving,and thats why he remember the door he is painting. Harmony saying while driving to the party "I will fix it,like I always do". And the promo for season 2 is "You`ll feel like you never left". Cant wait for the season 2 to come out. Best show I`ve seen in years!

if Irving innie's mind was wiped, that wouldn't be the reason his outie is painting the hall and the door, but it would be the reason his innie doesn't remember it. Most likely his outie paints it all the time because somehow that image somehow passed from his innie to his outie due to some traumatic event related to it.

It seems as though Cobel wants Marks innie to remember Gemma. She steals the candle and intentionally places it in the wellness session and she places the baby in a room that has a wedding picture of Mark and Gemma. The reasoning for this most likely relates to her mother and possibly trying to bring her back via Severance
@TwixiMixiPixi
@TwixiMixiPixi 11 ай бұрын
Many people think the same thing happened to Cobel's mother as with Gemma, where she was taken by lemon after supposedly dying. This means her "innie" character is a mask over her "outie"'s and she's trying to find her mother and hopes she remembers her.

I wonder if what Cobell said to Helly just before she went on stage was not to make Helly stop, but to enrage her even more. That’s why Cobell wasn’t the one to tackle her. She wanted her to go out, reveal herself, and rip into severance.

An interesting thing about the green and blue clothes and color schemes. Helly’s green and blue are dark green and blue. Heavy. Like a cloud. Then when she wears the blue top and yellow skirt. Like the light trying to break through the clouds, even though she was going back in to be tortured. Was it symbolizing her breakthrough or the company’s. Finally when she wore the yellow. It still wasn’t sunny yellow. It was a golden. Even though it was golden head to toe. It was a yellow that wouldn’t reflect much light (if any) light. Finally with Natalie and her job. She demonstrated perfect loyalty. However loyalty is never rewarded. Finally: Ricken isn’t the opposite of Lumon. He is the same. He is creating a cult of his own. The book is orange, not red. Orange and blue are opposite on the color wheel, they are complimentary colors. They go together. They don’t clash even though they are opposite.

As someone who just watched the show, I am grateful for the analysis. The biggest question I have is what MDR (and other departments) actually do, what the numbers mean and how it ties in with the Lexington letter. Also notice how Ricken's book read was strangely cult like with how the other dude was screaming out that he found his baby. And the baby goats like wth!? So many gaps and so much more to explore in future season(s). Irv's outtie also recalling/ painting the testing room that his innie doesn't remember makes me think of the clean slate and how many times they've actually used it on them. The mystery of Gemma is quite intriguing whether they inserted the chip after the accident and if her normal self is actually gone or being suppressed.

The goats signify cloning. Gemma's body was cloned after her death. She was either invovled with severance before or after her death. If it was before, they have a copy of Gemma but didn't restore it and Ms Casey only exists without the outtie of Gemma.....or if after, Gemma is gone and there is only Ms Casey. Ultimately I think Gemma will somehow be restored though. Anyway - the goal behind the cloning is to restore the board through cloning and severance. Also there might be a military angle to sever soldiers. Send them in and out of battle and sever memories to combat PTSD, and also have a blank severed copy to restore into a cloned copy. Results in an army you only have to train once. Regardless - the process of severing and cloning are the main undercurrent and motivation of Lumon. They want to monetize this process in many ways - was even talk of severed children at one point.

There's something about Rick and his cult that is kind of scary and is obvious that it will receive further development. That's related with the other big question that the series let me: is there a reason, significative to the plot, to portrait some people of the outside world as dumb? I refer to things like the dummy questions about WWI in that non-dinner dinner or like that bogus etymology of "camaraderie". Maybe those are just loose details, like directorial decisions on their specific episodes, or maybe they are way to establish a world of kind-of-dumb people.

If she orders a clean slate of Mark (because we know she's getting her job back), Devon stills present a threat. Will she have Devon get into a car accident so that she can ultimately be severed too? Any threats need to be extinguished. Remember her hunt for Petey.

Absolutely love this show. So well done - gawd I hope they don't wipe their memories in Season 2. Also didn't even realize the red/blue trope, and that finale was jaw dropping. I'm so deep in the theories on Reddit on this show - it's fascinating.

a couple of things no one seems to be thinking about that i am wondering about after watching the show. 1) doesn't it kind of seem like the 4 employees of MDR mirror the 4 tempers of Keir? Dylan frolics about the office making jokes and enjoying his work, Mark is in constant woe as his burdens pile up, Irving seems like a nice guy but there is certainly some deep seated malice in him, and upon taking the job Helly is the epitome of dread. I think that whatever work they are doing, it may pertain to the tempers, and they may have somehow been carefully selected (or perhaps in the case of Helly, trained?) to do it. 2) The code reader on the elevator isn't real. It can't be. I forget his name, but the guy who is Cobel's kind of right hand who puts Dylan into the over time cointingency asks him desperately if he brought the card home. If he could bring it home, that means he could get it on the elevator, and that isn't even coded. It is literal instructions on how to do.. well... something i suppose. Anyway just a couple thoughts. Liked the vid!

The elevator reads letters and symbols not paintings/drawings so they can take it out. That’s how they can also take the cards out since they are just a color and lemon droplet/drawling. I also think Irving and Helly are flipped as far as tempers. She’s malice, clearly because of her outside self and because she’s constantly going against the innie workplace and Irving is dread in that he’s always dreading and overtly careful of everything. He doesn’t really try to do anything negative but dreads what could be and is overtly cautious

Was Ricken’s book accidentally left inside Lumon, and if so, why didn’t Milchick try to find it? Seems reckless to just forget about leaving contraband lying around.

Cobel stole Mark’s book and brought it to Lumon to show to Milchick. Milchick left the book unattended when he needed to deal with the stolen card and use OTC on Dylan. Then Irv found it on his detour to visit Bert.

Love the videos. I just have 1 question that hasn't been addressed in any video. It takes 2 people to flip the switches for the Innies to access their outties bodies (or 1 strong Dyland G) so, when Milchik was physically at Dylan Gs real house and he was on the phone talking to *someone* who was it? Cobel didn't know... and presumably it is a 2 person person job so really , who were they?

Just found this channel and wanted to ask are there any shows you recommend like this? I just started watching Mr.Robot and that show is amazing when it comes to detail, I have a background in IT and went to school for coding so every time they say something that isn't made up (i.e "Lets hack the mainframe by running GUI partions into vector bla bla bla) makes me much more intrested. Also I don't know if you talked about this before but a file that show up (in the Siena folder) is the same as one in the list that Irving has, Coleman. The folders sound like places (Petey mentions Sunset Park folder) and the files like last names. Maybe its not just their brains the numbers corralate to but everyone else as well?

I think Ricken is also a bad guy, because all of the people at the reading party behave like a child. My theory: 1. Ricken could be a Lumon's high ranking officer. 2. All the people at the reading party are newly chipped people undergoing experiment. 3. Most of the people in the town might have been chipped. 4. Devon is not even Mark's sister. 5. Those so called 'Outies' might just be secondary 'Innies" personae.

I would say this is a little bit exagerated, personally I like the theory that Ricken is just a dude, but the people that listen to him are newly chipped, wich sort of makes them forget their personalities, so they need Ricken to give them one, wich is why they are as enthralled by his performance as Marks Innie.

Another clue to that Lumon now is far from its intended state, is the lack of security and doors. Security room has couple of seats and bunch of control systems but only one guard. And there are labyrinths of corridors (also a metaphor for wandering in mind) on the floor but no actual blockage between the departments. Something should’ve happened that changed the operations. Maybe under-financing took place because of bad pr, which resonates with your reason for Helly to take the procedure and go public.

Also might be that every employee of lumen is severed and there’s just different thresholds for different upper floor jobs. Hence no need for security outside of the main entrance or entrances bc they have no reason to worry about the outside world at work bc it doesn’t exist to them. The only thing lumen has to protect is keeping everyone in and skeptics out. I think Natalie is severed and used as lumens puppet without her knowing
