This is the first time I had seen my 1968 Norton P11A after having been restored by A Biker's Garage. After walking me through their work, the guys fired it up so I could hear it for the first time.

My dad built the first P-11 in the mid 1960's. He was Leland W. Winstead of Motorcycle Sales and Service Grass Valley California. He took a Norton 750 Atlas motor and mated to a G85CS Matchless frame. They sent the bike to England in the hopes of a more finished product being sent back to the states but the bike came back just like they sent it? My dad bought that Norton Hybrid which would be P11 #1 I guess. I don't know who my dad was doing business with above him but he must have been connected to Berliner since he also specialized on Ducati's which was part of Berliner Motor Corporation sales deal.

I had mine built by the shop I bought it from, brand new. But it was far from stock. Incredible machine..N15 CS Engine,

Lovely -- rode a P11A from Washington state to Florida (in several stages) and all over Dixie for several years in the late 60's-mid70s, many, many decades ago -- wow, momories... -- Larry

Wow! I can't believe this. I actually bought this very bike and am now doing a correct restoration on it. Yes tz350e80s is right the front wheel is on backwards! When I took off the tachometer drive to remove the timing cover I noticed the bottom seal plate was missing along with the helical gear to drive the cable, just like in the video. I got rid of that ugly steel rear mudguard and installed alloy mudguards front and rear, then polished them. I also polished the engine cases, the timing side was quite bad. You can see in this video the deep gouges from the shift lever. I also got rid of the incorrect mufflers and put some correct shortys on it. I've only had to spend around $1700.00 to bring it up to par including a pair of premier Amal carbs. with all new cables. I'll be posting a video of the bike running on my youtube channel, where you can see the last one I restored, when it's done. I've been accused of restoring them way too nice, much nicer than stock but what can I say, I like shinny things.

I've had the same "discussion" regarding the location of the brake plate. If on the right side the anchor bolt or the entire section of the alloy plate will sheer off when the brakes are applied with disastrous results. Also, as an owner and restorer also, my advice is, if it's your motorcycle, you can have it as shiny as you want!

I have a N15 which is the early version of this and their quite a beast with the low gearing(which always has me prodding for another gear)Can be a barstard to start when hot,and your in danger of developing a lower leg like Popeyes forearm,but all in all a nice blend of Matchless and Norton bits and pieces 😎

Fuel on, tickle carbs, bring piston up to tic, iginition on, vigorous kick through. At least you didn’t try to start with the side stand down.

Lovely bike! i think the guy explaining how the speedo works is wrong. theres no shaft running from the speedo drive to the instrument... but a cable.

The front brake on this bike is set up wrong - the brake plate should be on the left side. Didn't these 'experts' look at any old photos or manuals?

The guy starting , is not British Bike owner, Get rid of those silencers ,
