SKYDRAMA.NET | Storm Observation Vlog #51 chronicles the April 26th, 2024 tornado outbreak in Nebraska and Iowa. Chasing with ‪@donkeysanddownbursts‬ we documented roughly 10 different tornadoes over the span of nearly 4 hours. Nearly all 67 minutes of this episode is tornado video. A day I'll remember forever.

Thank you for treating these storms with the seriousness and respect they are due. I cringed, literally, as other chasers woo-hoo’d and high fives as people lives were being shattered. Your kind words at the beginning were heartfelt and appreciated..and this documentary was very well made. Thank you again. ❤

You guys got some absolutely incredible footage, without screaming and "whooping". I really appreciate that you respect the storms and don't act like "yahoos" that need to punch the core in order to show the story. The **only** thing I would ask is that you respect people's private property as much as you do the storms. The Minden footage was fantastic, but I really hope you had that farmer's permission to be on his property. Here in Oklahoma, we have a huge problem with "storm chasers" that have no problem driving right up on people's private property and tearing it up in the rain and mud. It usually starts out as just one person doing it, then others follow. Anyway, with that said, thank you so much for this upload. Y'all had a crazy day and I really respect your professionalism. Stay safe!

I'm in southern Wisconsin, hit by the first ever tornado in WI in February. My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones in 2024. I lost trees, house damage, thousands not covered by insurance. I can't imagine adding loss of a loved one to that. My prayers to everyone in 2024 who have been impacted by the weather. 🙏 ❤️

I'm so sorry to hear you're dealing with any damage at all. My home sustained major damage from a hailstorm in 2020 and even the repairs from that felt like a disruption and violation of our safe space, I can't imagine losing more to a tornado. Hope the repairs are going okay.

I'm a simple man. I see a SkyDrama video, and I sit back knowing it's going to be one of the most captivating and well thought videos of the year. Absolutely superb job getting incredible footage of some of the more incredible tornadoes I've seen in years. I have spent an embarrassing amount of hours watching storm chases and tornadoes and weather, and you still manage to blow me away with the quality, the humility and the control you have over what can only be described as a chaotic situation. There's never a measure of panic, only careful consideration, respect to the environment and the people involved, along with incredible footage. Not that I needed more reason, but am given more today with why you are one of my favorite chasers and one of the most respected people in the entire weather community. Thank you for all that you do and all that you've done to make the world and the weather community a better place.

This was a tough chase as it was my home. Watching your footage of the wall cloud rotating over downtown Lincoln is spine tingling. Also the "people in Waverly are acting strange" - same while we were on the interstate... some people on interstate are acting strange. Then scan the horizon and boom on our right. Similar to you guys... wait it's behind you? ours was wait, it's to our right? we were looking straight ahead as that was where the rain was wrapping around. Since we were behind the storm, we stopped at Waterloo, NE as damage path for Elkhorn tornado started there and no way through the road at the point. honestly i had enough and was ready to go home. So great to see the view that we probably would have had, if we hadn't gone for the storm early. But that's what we do in our chasing, we want to be there for the early part of the storm too... look forward to watching second half of this later as i know little of what the iowa storms/tornadoes looked like and appreciate your more meteorological approach to storm chasing

Aside from the terrific video, hearing the alerts from your mobile going off while the tornado sirens wail while following these monsters hit the mark for me as a storm enthusiast. Additional praise for keeping your cool while documenting these storms. The reaction from some of the other chasers can be a bit off putting. Well done all the way around.

48:58- My god man, you can see like 4-5 very defined funnel clouds rotating around like a central void- that is an absolute monster tornado. That thing is scouring the ground I bet close to a foot deep at times. I hated to see it hit a structure of some kind- I sincerely hope that wasn't someone's home and that no one was in it. That's the type of tornado that kills ppl who- like you said, do the "right" things. They follow all the right advice and take precautions- and it gets them anyway. That same thing happened in both the F5s I was in- one was when I was a baby, so I don't remember it- but apparently it tore slabs off shelters and pulled ppl out. Destroyed homes and took ppl out of their basements, etc. The second one was in 2011- Hackleburg Alabama- and it did the same thing- not to me, luckily. I wasn't actually in it- I was right behind it though- saw what it did and tried to help clean up. It was horrible- lots of dead ppl. Thank you for taking it seriously and thinking about the ppl affected- makes a difference.

If you pin where these happened, Omaha was SUPER, SUPER lucky that the Elkhorn, Eppley and Minden EF- "3" 's weren't all even a quarter of a county off of where they actually formed. The residential shots for Elkhorn is the best tornado footage I've ever seen.

Thank You for this video and thank you for your seriousness, reverence, and respect for these storms. I am a storm spotter here in South Omaha, NE. At the time of this tornado, I was in San Antonio, TX with my two of my sisters to help my stepfather assist my mother who at the time was in the hospital. My sister Angie and I are from Omaha, and we were getting Weather alerts on our phone the entire time. I was able to watch some footage from a storm spotter in Omaha, NE that filmed the storm. I was concerned for my family at the time, but I knew my wife was taking care of our kids and the 2 foster kids that were staying with us during that time. I was also concerned for my team of security officers that were working on this day and I texted my other lead to make sure they were okay and if there was any damage to Boys Town West Medical Campus. Fortunately, there wasn't any damage to the Medical or home campus. I saw the damage that was done around the 215th & coach area along with the damage done in Elkhorn. On Sunday April 28, my Pastor and some members of our church went out to assist with clean-up for those who were hit by the tornado. Now the week of the 19-22 of May, Omaha, NE could see another round of severe storms including tornadoes. Please stay safe Andrew and thank you for what you do.

Thank you for actually letting us hear the videos in their originality, without the excessive ITS A VIOLENT TORNADO, VIOLENT VIOLENT TORNADO, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! garbage so many other chasers seem to, or having ridiculous music slapped over it. It's easy to tell you guys enjoy the weather overall, but you're respectful to those who are affected by it. It's pleasant to see. Earned a new subscriber.

As a person who has a late April birthday I have also been fascinated by the midwest weather. The first April tornado that captured my attention was the tornado that hit Xenia, Ohio on April 3, 1974. The newspaper coverage and a short blurb on the TV was all I learned about that event in my hometown on the South Shore of Boston. It was not until 1981 that I visited Xenia. The local library offered a much more detailed look at that devastating event. What interested me was how the way we respond to such weather events has changed thanks to what Dr. Ted Fujita witnessed after Xenia. It's my hope that more people will heed the warnings that are based on science and trained spotters. Each time you go off on a chase each is different. As you said about Vlog 51, who knew you would be "filming the most spectacular atmospheric event of my life." Thank you Andrew for all the time and energy you put into your productions.

This is top quality footage, this is what makes a difference between a money hungry shouters (Reed Timmer) and true humble passionate whose purpose is to save lives. The attention to details and determination, plus next to none comments during shots makes you a Pecos Hank class storm-chaser. I already know this channel will burst in popularity as it's not made for cheap to lure people into some silly storm-chasing business, but rather to document and showcase the recent increasingly violent activity of our Earths atmosphere. You gained my sub today Andrew, hundreds of thousands to be added shortly. As long as it makes you feel good, please continue this fearless endeavour - me and hundreds of others will watch passionately at the edge of our seats. Thank you Andrew. Glad I found your Vlog.

The people that drive into the circulation to take measurements are the only ones doing any good to further the science. The money chasers are those that sit in a safe spot and use sharpening filters to make pretty pictures and those that take the footage of storm chasers to make videos after the fact. You don't even know the difference between glamor shots and real storm chasing my guy. Learn about the field before acting like a authority.

I'm going to go ahead and say you are BOTH wrong and clearly don't have skin in the game, but I appreciate your input. Reed is far from money hungry, and sinks every dollar he has into the science. He screams not for attention, but because he is genuinely that passionate and excited about big storms. I've known the guy for 20 years, there is no one more kind and passionate about severe weather. Me, I love distant, tripoded shots, because it's what I like! I don't sell my video, and I rarely even plop KZfaq ads on it. I've studied meteorology my entire life, and I wait all year for these once in a lifetime moments. That's why it's MY preference to setup somewhere that I can view the entire storm and not have to be constantly driving. A tripoded, steady video of the tornado and surroundings is what helps me relive these days. Thanks for watching, but please keep your opinions about people and their motivation to yourself.

Andrew, did that tornado hit those grain elevators at about 13 minutes? When I was a boy in Illinois, a tornado warning went off while we were in chruch and we all ran across the street to two large elevators, one which was empty. The church was vaporized by an EF3, but those elevators only got surface damage to the exterior. It was a strange experience beause of the echos within that space and the sound of the storm was amplified within. Is it your experience that empty grain elevators are a good shelter in a tornado? That elevator saved over 40 lives.

I think it’s so important for people to do research mostly when they live in places in Tornado Alley like I do. Whenever one happens it causes me to over and over again do research and on April 26th (right before my birthday as well) I found out we had a tornado watch and right away the sirens went off. Somehow my brain just went to grab my blankets and stuff to cover myself with just from my body remembering all the research videos I’ve seen. Even if I wasn’t thinking much about it, my body and brain knew what to do with how much research I did and still do all the time. Many people should do many research as well

Thank you for what you do it helps keep folks safe we need a good chaser around the Leavenworth Kansas area it would bring me comfort and make me feel safe I live in northeast Kansas and too many tornadoes happen here and It would provide me comfort if someone would chase her for a visual so I know what to expect when it's happening we almost got hit by a tornado those four days of severe weather outbreak and the last day is when we almost got hit i almost had a stroke my heart was racing and pounding so fast I was so scared for my life my safety and well being. No one sticks around to chase here cause they wanna be with the other chasers but we do get bad weather here worth a chaser being here

I see great natural beauty in the fluid mechanics of these storms but I always feel a gut-wrenching horror, the instance I start to see debris ripping up skyward. Great work in capturing your experience with the credibility and integrity of meteorology. You two more than earned the expensive hotel. :)

I have been terrified of tornadoes since I was really little. It doesn’t stop my intense desire to watch and learn more though. I take all warnings very seriously and if I ever get the chance to travel to watch something this extraordinary I will take it. I would never watch one here at home because I would be inside sheltering. I have a family to take care of and to protect. Thank you for being respectful and for not making this an adrenaline hit like many other chasers do.

That "carousel" tornado towards the end was so flippin awesome looking 👀!! It had soooo many vortices! And the way it had a tail (or whatever you want to call it) the entire time... it's definitely one of the coolest looking tornadoes I've ever seen (right up there with the Tuscaloosa EF-4 and all of its tentacles). Great video!

If you ask me the Tuscaloosa tornado was one of the most visually horrifying looking tornados I've ever seen. Because of the "tentacles" the smaller Cullman storm was similar looking as well. The only ones I think were worse visually was El Reno 2013, looked like it was manufactured by a machine, and Joplin, because of the sheer size and ominous presence in the dark.
