As my KZfaq username suggests, I’ve been chasing the thrill of pulling Charizards. I used to open packs from neo genesis all the way up to the EX era when I was a kid, and you’re right it was very difficult to even find a Charizard. In fact I never pulled one as a kid, and that’s what sort of brought me back as an adult (plus the awesome 151 set) I finally got to experience the excitement of pulling a Charizard. Childhood dream accomplished lol, and shameless plug I’ve done a lot of these pulls on camera. Lowkey pulling the celebrations Charizard was my favorite over the 151 though, just because it’s a reprint of the card I never had as a kid.

I’m sorry but you’re both wrong. It was easy to pull Zards back then. You were practically guaranteed to master set in 1-2 booster boxes for crying out loud! Sorry you were unlucky but out of the over 40,000 FE base set packs I opened, I pulled exactly 1,194 Zards. That’s roughly 1/35 chance. Which is accurate. 77.6% of the time they came from Venasaur packs as well (confirming that theory for you too). Mystic is also wrong about them making pulls easier in S&V due to kids attention spans. At least partially… that was a factor, but the primary reason is due to the sheer size of these sets in the last 10 years. Remember how I said you could master the earlier stuff in 1-2 boxes (around 3-4 boxes for late WOTC-Platinum)? Ya… that’s impossible for 99.9% of people now. There’s too many cards (especially counting reverse holo copies) that you can’t even comfortably fit them all in one binder anymore even; but most importantly, NOT mastering for less than 900-1,200 packs on average. That’s why the pull rates have gone up a little with S&V. Heck, they’ve dropped drastically again though for TF. Anyways, good luck to you on your Zard hunting!

I've got back into collecting about 2020 right after I did a clean and found 4 binders full of vintage and newer cards couple first editions nothing to crazy but that's what made me get back into it and the memories as a kid as I used to beg my mom to bring to buy boxes and then try to pull any holos I could the one that was my top 3 favorite cards where my Blastoise my first edition graded 10 Gyarados and then the original Zapdos cause Zapdos was my first ever favorite legendary. Then my son loved the show and I told him I had cards and showed him my collection and then he told me to get the newer ones cause he loves the artwork as I do and then it was a wrap from there. I try my hardest to complete the set I'm going for but recently my son pulled the Blastoise ex while I pulled the other Blastoise alt art then he pulled the Zapdos GX card I pulled the Zapdos alt art. Then we both got the same Charizard which was awesome cause I told him how unlucky that was to pull Charizard out of the same booster box.now I'm after anything to do with Zapdos and also Lugia seeming how they Are my favorite.

The cool thing about tera charizard is that he doesn't have that pesky water weakness, instead being weak to grass. Since the game came out, there's almost always been a water deck that hits hard. At the time of this comment, there are maybe 2 viable grass decks in standard and neither brings much to the table outside of hitting charizard's weakness. The problem with this is that while Tera Charizard is dark, the rest of the deck is fire, so you can easily take care of any grass pokemon that charizard can't handle. Another thing i like about tera charizard is that he focuses on speed over power. Historically, Charizards tend to do a ton of damage offset by an absurd energy cost. Tera charizard does a respectable damage for a cheap price, but gets better as the game goes on. That said, who's complaining? The best deck in pokemon is super easy to build, since the ace pokemon has been reprinted several times, two of which were promos.

That xy charizard ex red and blue collection box is what got me back into pokemon. I bought the charizard, blastoise, and venusaur boxes and pulled all the top cards from that set from those 3 boxes. I used to collect as a kid but stopped for around 10-15 years then once those dropped in what 2015 or 2016, I've been back at it ever since!

All 1st Ed Charizards are Shadowless :) the only 1st Edition Base Set card available with a shadow is Machamp because it was in a deck. Otherwise Shadows were not added until unlimited was printed
