I believe hiccup and astrid have the Cutest Healthiest Most relatable And most well passed relationship in fiction history Their cute They understand each other They rarely argue They both know when its time to move on They both trust each other and they don't break that trust The respec each other like no other cupple so much that they don't want the other to change They comfort each other when one is upset or helpless And the best thing about them is that they started a fan community that goes nuts when their together And even though they kiss twice in the first movie and multiple times in riders and defenders of berk they weren't a cupple proving the chemistry between them and how it takes Time for them to grow and develop strong feelings for each other and they officially become a cupple in season 4 of race to the edge which is 3 and a half years after the first movie which proves that there relationship is healthy because they took time to see if it would work out and it did Hiccstrid is perfect A mach made in valhalla if you will

actually, in riders/defenders of berk, they were at more of an awkward stage where they were friends that had crushes on each other, so they never officially dated until s4 of race to the edge. at one point in the beginning of riders of berk they both even denied the fact that they had feelings for each other

Yeah it’s a good thing to know their relationship is acknowledged. It’s definitely one of the many things that made the whole franchise so special and amazing.

Gotta be the only tv/movie couple where they correctly communicate with each other. No one shifts blame, they accept faults and because they were friends first they know what to expect from each other without much frustration

6:26 honestly I can give it a pass, since she was an underdeveloped character in that scene and this was a moment to prologue progression And that death stare Toothless gave her was just perfect, “I know you did not just hurt Hiccup, he an I are boys, don’t make me get a Christmas special so I can do a fly-by”, Toothless is a real one and I love him😂

What I think happened between Riders of Berk and Race to the Edge is that Hiccup and Astrid both grew up a little more and started developing different interests, they started looking at their relationship as a childish crush. They may decide to take a break or break up and stay friends because of the change of personalities that happens between teen and adult.

Wait, there were criticisms about Astrid marrying Hiccup later after she said they weren't ready?? That criticism really doesn't hold water. The film literally explains why she didn't feel they were ready yet. Even Tuffnut, as a side comedy, was trying to get Hiccup to be a proper 'marriage material'. That part was explained thoroughly in the third film. Hiccup was too dependent on Toothless. He didn't believe he was capable without his dragon. That's why Astrid felt he wasn't ready. And when he got over those insecurities, she knew it was time. Besides they didn't get married immediately.

Hiccstrid has got to be the most healthy relationship depicted in media ever. Trusting, understanding, supporting, equal. It's a goal.

I love their relationship because it’s so healthy! You can have external conflict drive the plot, because the same dozen or so toxic flaws get boring after a while. Cinema Therapy was going to do a couples therapy episode for Hicstrid, but they’re relationship was so healthy it was the first episode of Couples Goals lol.

Hiccsrids is one of the best relationships of all time, animated or otherwise. It really shows a healthy and supportive relationship with people who can still have their own personalities and aren't afraid stand up for themselves or go against the partners when need be.

Great job with this video. This is one of the most stable and relatable relationships in cinema. As I was rewatching the movies and series I actually noticed something that I think u didn't realize. So when Astrid wins the Dragon Race in the beginning of the 2nd movie, Stoick proclaims, "Yes! That's my future daughter in-law!" This implies that even though Hiccup and Astrid aren't married, Stoick has already accepted Astrid into the Haddock family. That is very significant to me. However, you got all the pivotal moments for this relationships in this video. Well done

I Love and hate this couple so much at the Same time. I Love them because their relationship is so Well written and had been build Up over some time, its almost realistic. But i hate them because every time i See them they remind me that i couldnt get this type of relationship (or Not even a relationship itself) which makes me sad every time. Dear Lord, this is a long ass explanation. You've been warned: One thing that I dont think people mention and its something that could just be my own interpretstion is that in the first movie, Astrid's coldness towards Hiccup felt a bit more like she was looking out for him. What I mean is that all her interactions with Hiccup before he started to train Toothless felt more like she's discouraging him from attempting to be a viking. Even though they weren't close, they've still known each other their whole lives (even if one side's perception of the other was not, at the very least, good.) This minor relationship would be enough for her to try and protect him since this is something he can't really handle. The other teens belittle Hiccup, but her interactions with Hiccup, at least from the way you mentioned it, make it feel this way. She just wants him to be safe, hence she said the things she said. To say that he's always in the wrong place at the wrong time can be interpreted many ways, but I personally see it as her believing that all of this craziness and chaos that comes to being a Dragon fighting viking is something Hiccup can never do. I've said too much, and honestly, I'd love to say so much more, but my point in general is: Astrid cared for Hiccup even before Hiccup met Toothless. She wanted to protect him from doing something he cant do. Its as simple as that.

I wish you showed Astrid and Hiccup's training, when they were fighting and Snotlout says to Fishlegs that Hiccstrid was at it again. I think it was before everyone knew about their relationship

To me the continuity with Homecoming and THW ending was the daughter's reaction. iirc Toothless never sees Hiccup in Homecoming as he is in the costume and he identifies him (and I assume the Zephyr) by scent. I assume to Toothless's eyes, Hiccup looks very different after 10 years and as he himself hasn't changed, that may show a lack of understanding with human growth which is why he is initially aggressive. The daughter is in awe but says he's beautiful during Homecoming and is talking about how she loves them, but come the end of THW she cowers away from him when he lands on the boat, even after she sees he and Hiccup interact playfully. That said, I'm possibly being uncharitable to a kid reacting to a dragon. The initial aggression could have been enough.
