Thank you for sharing this Andrew. It's so important to have a space customized for your workflow. Like you said, it's very interesting to see how uniquely different everyone's studio is. Also, I'm glad to hear that you will be doing weekly live streams.

Funny enough, the best part of my set up is knowing that it's going to change in the future. It's an unfinished basement right now and I'm making the most of it for the time being. My wife and I have plans to finish the basement and we have plans to have a studio. Right now, recording means I don't take it too seriously and as a result I'm producing content (music/video) and this is what I need to do to get better at both. I used to get caught up in the fact that my gear was holding me back. That a lack of access to high end equipment was going to be the deciding factor in whether or not, my music would be successful. Right now, I'm making the most of my current set up and hopefully when I'm ready to create a proper space, I'll be that much more clear on what my needs will be. I love that yours is all in one space and knowing your dimensions are super helpful to help me envision what mine would/could be. Great tip about the wireless mouse/keyboard too!

I'm in a room like yours. The bluetooth keyboard and mouse are life savers. I don't play drums, but when I'm recording acoustic guitar or vocals, I'm about where your drums are and I do the same thing.

i like the fact that i even have a home set up at all! but also the fact thats in my room so if i wake up with an idea i literally take one step and im ready to go

Nice setup. I like the easy access to instruments that are ready to go. Makes it easier to keep the creative flow going. You’ve got a lot in there, but it doesn’t feel crowded.

That's a cool set-up and work flow. I've got a similar situation where I have my drum-kit always ready to go. But, where I differ from you is I use primarily Logic X. With this, I can use an iPad to remotely control my DAW from the drum kit. Makes it easier to see what I'm doing, and I can change my ear mix on the fly. See if you DAW's have tablet control.

My drum room was added onto the end of my house. So that wall has a big gap between the house and room. A 6" thick middle wall (there's 2 rooms in a big add on about 800 sq feet) seperates the 2 rooms. The front wall and outer side wall are both double framed/double OSB sheathing/insulation 2x4 walls. I need to add to the ceiling badly. The room itself is about 20'x13' too haha. My ceiling is 10' too. It lets the drums really sing.

Hey Andrew. Love your studio setup. I also use only 1 room. One thing I really like about my setup is how I use the USB ports. My laptop sits on a stand with a USB fan on it. I have a lot of gear, but my laptop only has 2 USB 3's and 1 USB C. But I have a digital mixer that I use as control surface as well as presonus faderport for transport controls when I record vocals. I have the atom beat pad from presonus. Native Instruments komplete kontrol 61. Wireless mouse and keyboard. Hard drive docking station. Another portable hard drive and my interface. I figured it kut. I use a USB C docking station. And two USB 3 docking stations. 1 runs into the other. And my interface plugs directly. The docking station also powers the laptop. It's a quick setup with everything plugged in and on in 10 seconds. Another thing I like with my studio is smart lighting throughout. I have 1 switch with programmed scenes, and also a motion sensor to trigger a standard look when I walk in the room.

glad to see this pop up in my suggestions. After years of playing guitar I'm trying to put together a home studio in a spare room that doubles as a storage place. You've got some cool ideas here.
