Remember the Erl-King? Revisit this classic in the English translation in this narration with imagery and sound effects. You have never encountered this ballad before? Well - here is your chance!
"The Erl-King" was written 1782 by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in German as "Erlkönig". The translation by Edgar Alfred Bowring was created in 1853. The illustration by Moritz von Schwind was created 1849. The original text by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832), the translation by Edgar Alfred Bowring (1826-1911) and the illustration by Moritz von Schwind (1804-1871) are in the public domain.

Note:
I created this video in week four of the "lockdown in place" period due to the Corona virus (SARS-CoV-2). As I always pictured the Erl-King as the personification of disease, the poem kept popping up in my head recently. Though it might not be soothing, it is my topical approach to digest the current situation. I hope you can also enjoy it.
