My goal certainly isn’t to be hated. 🤦‍♂️I just wanted to do a video that was easily accessible to newer watch enthusiasts and that necessitated going a little more barebones and dropping talk about parachrome hairsprings, column wheels, lemania movements and what-not. Glad you liked it - praise coming from a person with 55 years of enthusiasm for watches - that’s extra appreciated 😀

I’m a seasoned collector and knew 90% of what you said, but I learned a couple things from you. You’re spot on. The collector market agrees as seen in auction results for IWC. You are doing a great job for new passionate watch enthusiasts. Keep it up!

One of the rare KZfaq reviews of the Oris ProPilot X Cal. 115 that is fair with it. I own one, this watch is such a beast. It does hold in excess of 10 days of power reserve. Cumulative drift per month: +15s on my wrist, with adequate overnight positioning-amazing. Why it got so much bashing has to do with skewed value-for-money conceptions and your video rightly gives clues to form a balanced opinion.

One thing I ‘d like to add is that, if you are after very good price-quality a lot of German watch brands qualify. Sinn, Damasko, Guinand, Archimede, Dornblüth u. Sohn, Nomos, Glashütte Original, Mühle Glashütte, Botta, Chronoswiss etc

This is the first time I have seen a video that tell the truth in so brutal way and I love it. Love the example given to show disproportion of watch quality vs price and how to choose a good watch with reasonable price. If the video can pause longer on certain scene with pictures and writing, so that I wouldn't need to pause or rewind, that would be better.

Great video and excellent content! If I may suggest… when you place an image in the video or text, slow down the image so that we can see it a little bit longer, as for text, sometimes there is not enough time to read it. You are different from other KZfaqrs keep on the way you are going!

I recently started collecting watches and a trap I got caught in is buying on line. You really don’t fully appreciate a watch unless you can actually hold it and try it on. Over good video.

Have to agree - In the metal all the way. I only purchase online if I've had it in my hands at an AD first. I know it's unfair to AD's in a way, but if the wife can do it with clothing and shoes, I can do it with watches.😃

I’ve really wanted a Hamilton Murph, until yesterday. Saw one in a store and got to try it on. It’s shiny, all polished. On line not so much. Didn’t like the dial as much as I thought I would. Didn’t see it bumping my Union Glasshütte Viro off my wrist.

The Mark XX is better value for money and with IWC finally putting their own movements into their watches, I think their value prop has improved substantially - especially compared to the specific model I evaluated in the video. I like their watches a lot myself. Dreaming of a big pilot someday.... 😀

Hello Mike, I really enjoyed this video. I am in the market for a decent watch. I am torn between the Seiko 300m (new Marinemaster) and the Tudor Black Bay 58. I know Tudor is COSC certified and all but I cannot get over the monoblock case of the Seiko. What is your take on the Seiko 8L35 movement inside the Marinemaster? Thanks for the feedback. It’s appreciated. 😀 Good question. Overall, my understanding is that it’s a good workhorse movement, which seiko has based on a more high end movement that has stricter manufacturing and testing tolerances (and finishing) Seiko makes good, accurate movements in general, so I would be totally happy with it.

Maintaining expectations, where seeking brand name, and there will be a premium. A chinese watch, where the sterotype of is correct? Good and bad from any watch maker. If someone likes and values that, that is the watch for them.

I just come back from you know where, a citizen is useless when a shell over your head and everything goes out........ I go back to Casio......and it’s still useless, no 100hour countdown no day countdown, no gps......I mean we are in this stagnation so long, why not make something really useful?
