It was so cool to watch Jeremy walk Scott through, I find that sometimes it is good to slow down and explain things to someone who has no idea. You start to think about certain things differently.

FYI: the OLFA utility knifes are typically found only in the paint department of Home Depot in the USA. Almost all other utility knifes are found only in the hardware department of Home Depot in the USA. I figured that out when I was looking for 8" scraping blades so I could magnetize my bases in bulk with two epoxy syringe.

For grass and similar terrain cover, I often use fine saw dust and mix it with blended (in a Magic Bullet) oasis foam available from the florists or from the dollar type stores...The "wet" version of oasis is a darker green than the "dry" so, depending on how dry your grassed area is, the amount of green to pale (usually pine) sawdust is entirely up to your need for that particular diorama. Cheap too. To make it in bulk, I use saw dust fines and mix it with a little green or tan or yellow shades of paint, dry it out and store until needed...also affordable.

so one item i can recommend that a lot of people may not think of for glueing stuff together is called ""no more nails"" thats its brand name but the cheaper no brand ones work almost as well, this takes quite a while to fully dry but when i used it to fix a shelf to the wall (no nails or screws just this stuff) a few years later i wanted to take down the shelf and the ""glue"" had bonded so well that it ripped off all the wallpaper under it and the top layer of plaster. it doesn't melt polystyrene, it sets almost like a putty and it washes off most things with just water (after it sets you have to cut it off with a knife or peal it off if its on your hands or something soft) it also fills gaps which i found nice when making Terrain.

Been following Black Magic Craft for about a month, Miniac about 3 weeks. I'm an aspiring Model Railroader in N scale, as well as a DM for a small group of players. I was looking for a new inspiration and found Black Magic Craft. Awesome! Then saw Miniac on the channel and subscribed to his channel. I have been enjoying both channels as well as Squidmar and Bard's Craft and Goobertown Hobbies and.... Well there are a few. But! This video was memorable in that it introduced terrain building to the Miniature Figure painters and in so doing, explained some more basics that I either missed in previous videos or just didn't realize applied to this craft. The banter was also entertaining and I would certainly encourage more of these collaborations! Thanks to you both for wicked awesome content! Keep it going!

Glad I discovered this collaboration video. One small gripe though: only school glue is water soluble after it dries. That is why is called school glue. Regular wood glue (dries hard) or Elmer's all-purpose glue (dries flexible) will not dissolve if you add water later. The advantage of Mod Podge is that it dries clear, which doesn't matter if you are adding paint to it anyhow.

E-PVC is also called Sintra. We use it for Cosplay. you can find epvc at any plastics distributor. Call your local sign shops they usually have scraps

Epvc is expanded pvc board. Sign shops and large format printers use loads of this, and often have skips full of off-cuts. Comes in a range of thickness from 3mm to 20mm. Trade name is foamex, but also known as forex or foam pvc in some areas.

Home Depot sales thin pvc foam board. It's special order. I am trying it out for a base. I beveled the edges out with a bench sander so minis don't fall or slide off it.

Consider leaving some space on the base that you won't use as part of the base, but rather as a method for clamping the base to the table while it dries. It should help diminish base curling, and you can cut off the holds later

Awesome video, quality advice and tips which are absolutely ESSENTIAL for terrain building. Another quick tip is rather than using air dry clay, which will soften with water and generally is less durable, try using a wood filler or poly filler to fill in the gaps of your terrain. It’s easy to apply and texture and is a lot more durable.

i love using model magic on temporary ball jointed doll mods. you can get rid of the mod by soaking the doll part in water. because these dolls are made of resin i do recommend using modge podge as a barrier between the model magic though. wet and wild brushes are so good for makeup, paint, pastels and a lot of uses. they also last forever. i love those brushes though i do mix my makeup brushes up sometimes ^^'

It's hilarious watching Maniac put the modge podge on. He is being so careful. When I do terrain I just slap it on as fast and messy as possible. Ain't got no time for that!

That particular Home Depot stocks the Olfa Knife near the paint section. Just stumbled on to them myself there last week.

Go in the streets for sand boys! Its Canada in winter: they put sand on every road to prevent slippery roads. Get a scoop let dry: free sand with great variation! (easier to do in spring tho). Great collab :D

I can actually come with a small sugestion (when it comes to the patern in the Stone. Alot of Insulation materials do "melt" if You use an alcohol based pen (Marker) and that gives a nice look to it. like someone carved the stone

I bought some of that Extruded PVC on amazon for a pretty decent price. I can say that it's a good material, but it's still difficult to cut with a box cutter. I got a little bit of warp in them, but I suspect that it's because I used Spackle to model the terrain, which I feel shrunk ever so slightly and warped the EPVC. Great Video! I've been watching both channels for a long time now! great to see a crossover episode!

I looked for a long time until I found EPVC. It’s super easy to find at Lowe’s or Home Depot, it’s in the same department as sheets of glass I plexiglass. Reasonably priced, easy to cut, carve, heat up and bend and is super durable.

I use a swan morton scalpel in the UK instead of a craft knife. The blades are cheaper in bulk and the blade is much tinner
