The Everly Brothers were, and still are, the gold standard of duets. There simply has never been a duo like them. They had an endless string of hits in the late 50s and early 60s, and every one was a great song and a big hit.

The Beatles said that one of the bands that heavily influenced them were the Everly Brothers... and you can tell. The Everly Brothers are regarded as one of the best duos of all time. They were incredibly in tune with each other and sounded fantastic. Btw, it's pronounced Ever-ly. I love this era too. There's an innocence, gentleness, and purity to alot of it. Today's music sounds extremely aggressive, angry, and showy by comparison.

Late 1950's and early '60's was my coming of age period - a calm before the storm (just before the British invasion, the civil rights protests, the Vietnam war, the hippie generation and anti-war movement turned the world upside down). 2020 is beginning to get that feel - but without all the great music that also exploded back then.

It's pronounced with a soft e, like in the word "ever". This is actually 50s, then into the 60s. Don (the one on camera right) and Phil Everly were the sons of Ike Everly, who was a popular country singer/guitarist and radio personality in the 1940s, and the boys began singing professionally on Ike's show when they were pre-teens, and had been cultivating their harmonies since they were very little. These guys are examples of early rock royalty...HUGE stars in their day. Although they had several falling-outs over the years, they would always get back together and continued performing together until Phil passed away in 2014. There are plenty of examples of their studio work right here on KZfaq. Just do a search and listen, because their harmonies are amazing. I would place the Everlys, The Righteous Brothers, Simon & Garfunkel and Jan & Dean on the top of the mountain for rock duos. And it's interesting you mentioned the Beach Boys, because Brian Wilson does consider the Everlys to be one of his musical influences, as does Barry Gibb.

So many of the bands and singers you've featured on this channel count the Everly brothers as a huge source of inspiration including the Beach Boys, the Bee Gees and the Beatles. Thanks to my parents I got to see them preform live in Las Vegas, I also got to see The Righteous Brothers preform in Las Vegas. Of course both groups were way older when I got to see them but they were still amazing. I was blessed to see so many ppl live because of my parents and I was blessed that they made it happen. RIP to my wonderful father who would get me tickets so often. RIP to the wonderful artists that you and others are reacting to that have since past away. I was born in 1972 so some of these groups were b4 my time too but as I said I was very blessed thanks to my parents. Covid has been a very hard time for me because of the health problems I have. On a side note since I grew up in the 80's Don Everly of the Everly Brothers it was his daughter that the song : Sweet Child Of Mine By Guns and Roses was written about. My friend and I used to sing these songs in my bedroom after school and our voices naturally did the harmonies, great times, full skirts with lots of stiff net petticoats and wide elastic belts to make a tiny waist, girls looked so pretty back then!

It sounds like they are using special echo machines or some sort of gadget to make their voices sound better but the fact that this is their actual voices is amazing, love this
