Yup. Definitely one of the best TV Shows of all time. Perfect balance between storyplots and characters development, tragedies and humor and happy endings. Not to mention its limited option on allowed villain characters.

According to the showrunners, she was one of out 400 different actresses who auditioned for the part. Before this she had a lot of trouble landing roles because of her mixed ethnicity.

Couldn't agree with you more. Both Coulson and Mack made bad/emotional decisions as leaders but the show didn't seem to care about that. Daisy was more than capable of leading at the beginning of Season 3 before Hive and led the team out of the Framework in Season 4. Then in Season 5 she is told that she will destroy the world, her father is dying, and her best friend tortures her and the guy who sold her into slavery is suddenly a part of the team ... who wouldn't be a bit emotional. Then don't get me started on Yo-Yo - she withholds pertinent information and then is nasty when she doesn't like Daisy's decisions. The show claimed for years to be this show with strong females, but I've also never seen a show use so many sexist, misogynistic tropes or shit on its main female protagonist like AoS did. How they handled her leaving post Hive and her mental health is criminal, and I never really could forgive Fitz and Mack for that scene in 4x02. And how they used gaslighting and victim blaming and women can't be leaders because they are too emotional in season 5 is offensive and makes it hard to watch or forgive Fitz, Yo-Yo, Simmons and Deke. I mean they couldn't even apologize when she steps down and say yeah we're sorry that we blamed you for your torture, never gave you a chance to lead and were so nasty and insubordinate. How hard would that have been? I guess it shows how far we still have to go for true gender equality when the criticisms you listed are some of the oldest ones used to condemn strong women - bossy, dramatic, emotional and weak.

The fact that Mack was able to be the most sane throughout the second half of Season 5 without getting soaked in by the prophecies and crossing lines shows that he has the emotional maturity to be a leader. This was evident as far back as Season 3 when Coulson made him acting director in the mid-season finale.

@@Unversed333 that’s cause mack wasn’t that important of character. they kind of just sidelined him and than we’re like oh shit he needs to have something this season let’s just make him directors cause he calm and cool sometimes. like his whole story was him helping a kid, and basically saying he gonna quit shield. I don’t know why you are saying he was the only one emotionally stable when in like the first episode he said he couldn’t do it anymore, and that he wanted to quit. It was stupid. And he does it like every season. Whining about how he wants to quit. Don’t get me wrong Mack is one of my favorite characters i just think it was stupid to make him a leader in a season that he didn’t play a big role in.

@@rachels1313 Yess! Well I have to admit my first thought wasn’t sexism. I can definitely see where you are coming from. And how they sidelined a lot of the other characters emotional outburst, but when Daisy does something dramatic it’s like a big problem. I just hope that when and if Daisy ever joins the MCU (which i think she will) she has a big leadership role, and or plays a big role in team decisions. For now in my head i’ll have to stick to some of the comic book storylines where she was director for a little while atleast.

It's not about how much a role he has played. It's about his qualifications to be a leader. He stays by his decisions. He doesn't let emotions cloud his judgment, not does he compromise what shield stands for. There have been times we he has to be the moral compass for the characters. Making Mack director was the right choice, and the team all voted him despite the disagreements they had in the beginning. They know that they lost themselves in this season and recognized that Mack stood by his core beliefs. And the decision being a vote instead of a hand off shows a level of trust.
