"GFRIEND (Korean: 여자친구) was a six-member South Korean girl group formed by Source Music in 2015. The group consisted of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji. They made their debut with the EP 'Season of Glass' on January 15, 2015. GFRIEND won several 2015 Female Rookie Awards and has garnered momentum since their debut despite being from a small company. In 2016, they continued their success with their third EP, 'Snowflake', and won first place on many music shows with the title song, 'Rough'. GFRIEND disbanded in May 2021 after all six members left Source Music upon the completion of their six-year contract."

A unique feature about gfriend is that they don't really have an official rapper, which most groups today depend on. Adding to that, the girls all can sing well. Being able to replace the lead and main vocalist. All of them are equally great dancers. All of them are talented. That's why buddies always say ot6 or nothing. I'm really sad to see them go but now they get to be free. I hope they have a bright future ahead of them.

Although I hate how it everything ended so suddenly. I must say that Mago was such a huge song to end on. I mean seriously it was one of their biggest hits from their long list of amazing songs.

@@evergmetrozone so many! 😭 Besides Gfriend: Berry Good, Gugudan, GOT7, HotShot, B Of You (B.O.Y), IZ*ONE (they were contracted to disband but still hurts), 1NB (in 2018), Seven O’Clock, BLACK6IX, MYTEEN (in 2019), and ENOi Just to name the ones that come to mind. 😞 ETA: Added two disbandment years that were 2018/2019, so while they weren’t recent, they are still missed! Thank you to the user who pointed that out! Good songs from all these groups.

I dare to say G-Friend is the best girlgroup of 3rd gen K-Pop. In term of skills, choreography, discography, and visuals they are the best out of the best. I was so devastated to hear the sad announcement. K-Pop will never be the same anymore without G-Friend 😭😭

All of their song were so good and the girls clearly put so much work into every comeback. Unfortunately it took their change starting with fever for most international people to notice them. The OG buddy know how amazing their older songs were 😭✊🏻

It’s sad to see my favorite groups go. TBH I mostly likely won’t be into KPOP anymore. GFRIEND kept me in but now they are gone, I have no strong interest like I use too and I’ve been a KPOP fan since 2008, so I’ve been through tons of groups and it’s crazy. KPOP just isn’t the same anymore.

So true. Now days, many companies are going for international success and money, the result?, Black Pink-sounding songs, branded as "dark and edgy". That is not what Koreans want, but it's what Westerners and Koreaboos want. There are still a few good groups left, but with the exit of Gfriend and others, some lights have gone out in the Korean music industry.

With Mago they left as queens! When they released Apple & Mago I was always imagining how their next songs would be.. Because those songs were huge style changes and were very unique! I wished that there would've been one more song :( The song that really got me into GFriend was Fever! And I love Fallin Light! Apple and Mago are on Top! #thankyougfriend

Why are you even confuse about that? You don't even stan them, innocent concept and melancholic songs aren't your cup of tea then here you are still questioning about it. If you hate their previous sounds it doesn't mean that other people hate it too. Imagine calling Me gustas tu, Rough, Love whisper and Time for the moon night a bad songs.

LOL their past songs were much better to me. The level of instrumentations are god level. Mago and fever aren't my cup of tea. Apple was a different concept but still the GFRIEND sound still there for me.

I met gfriend when the release of time for the moon night. I didn't focus much on supporting them because I'm addicated on playing dota2 at that time. I comeback and listening to their song again last week. But suddenly someone told me gfriend was already disbanded. And now I'm binging all of the memoria show, and I realize I should've focus on them more than what I did.

I’ve loved Gfriend since day one, and I want to thank you all for being my ultimate group. Each song you drop, I fall in love with quickly. I remember when people hated you during the Season of Glass era, and it upset me since you girls didn’t deserve that kind of hate. Gfriend deserved love, and that’s what I gave the group undying love and support in anything they would do. I know my heart will feel empty without you dropping new songs or doing reality shows, but I still got beautiful things to look back on with you guys. GFriend! Look After Our Dog is one reality show I rewatched yesterday, and look at you all so young, but it still made me laugh watching you all take care of dogs. Some people may ask why you cry or be upset about a music group disbanding, but Gfriend was special to me. The music they put out felt like a warm hug, and watching their reality shows would always put a smile on my face whenever I felt alone sometimes. Thank you for being Gfriend, the group full of unique people and incredible talent. I will miss you all being together, but I hope we can see each other in the future.

Tbh, I've being thinking what is the use of acquisitions if they will lastly abandoned. And not to mention, not even 1 year have past from when the acquisitions happen. And I'm being wondering why BH acquire them in the first place. Not to throw shit but just wondering since our girls actually quite good being in SouMu (even though not as big as big 3 gg, but still they were quite popular in Asia) and from the sources I got, they don't have any debt left. Means they were already fine on their own. I know the acquisitions was means to expose them to the world but what we got actually more harm than benefits. But yeah, what past is past, now the future is more matter. Even though, I still feel the loss, but I will never stop from supporting them with their path. Hope they can find and do what they're really want and happy whatever they do.

I have been a Buddy ever since day 1 of GFRIEND. I have seen them grow. I grow together with them. GFRIEND came out when I just finished my high school too😢 My memories with them is uncountable. They gave me strength and told me to never give up😢

Ive heard Glass Bead upon debut, thought it was too similar to ITNW. In 2016, I came back and listened to both Me Gustas Tu and Rough, thought they were bops and improvements from debut. As I was focused on other groups, GFRIEND was not in my radar again until last year when they released Apple, and I was blown away by their transformation. Afterwards, I listen back to their discographies and thought they had one of the better underrated ones of 3rd Gen. Sad to see their run end unexpectedly, however much like their last title track MAGO, they all walked "tall" (get it cuz they're known for their height...) together into the unknown and hope for a bright future to come.

Even though I am very disappointed with your choice to leave us, but...Now that I understand why you chose to disband ... I will remember you for all eternity. Fighting! These girls raised the bar so high that they were only compared to themselves. Every new release was anticipated with major expectations, will them outdo themselves? And they never failed to deliver. Extremely hard working singers and dancers starting from such a small company, they could only have counted on their talent to achieve success and they made so big to the point where BTS company had to embrace them. They gave us everything we were expecting from them and more. Their sound is unique, mysterious and magical, they make you feel immersed into their own world. Take a break as long as you want, girls. We'll be waiting for you all!

All though their music was never my cup of tea it's pretty sad to see them break up. They just seemed liked the kind of group that would be together for a really long time. I wish them the best and hope they enjoyed their time as idols.

It's a shame why gfriend had to disband suddenly. gfriend is a girl group that I think has a variety of musical colors. but what I like the most are the songs that are rich in strings, which are rarely found in other idol groups. love gfriend, i will miss them❤️

the video was amazing just like all the others on the channel. gfriend was a group that released several memorable songs and a successful career, they are currently missing in kpop, but it's great to see 3 of the members forming the "viviz", Yuju debuting solo and the other members following their solo careers.

I have been a casual kpop listener since the beginning of second gen kpop but GFRIEND is my best, most ultimate bias group. I will never ever love another kpop group they way I loved them. Thank You GFRIEND, for the six years. I will never regret becoming a Buddy. Stanning these six beautiful, multi-talented girls, definitely one of the best decisions I made in my life. i clicked this video and i completely forgot they disbanded and now im crying 😭😭 i started listening to gfriend so long ago and i feel like i grew up with them its so sad that they are no longer together T^T
