Fun fact the first helmet you mentioned, is actually three different molds. The 2006-2008 one (like the first game) has a smoother head. The Next slight variation made the brows slightly more visible. And the third version added to temple bevels between the ears and the brows.

There were 4 cowls. The original bulky one, the slimmer one we've had for years, the half helm with the shorter ears and no jawline, and the weird eubber cape one. There's also the very new one with the eyes

You forgot about the helmet with the eyes. It's a combination of the classic helmet and the one that we got a decade ago, plus you don't need a special face like the original one did. That helmet would be nice to make a Batman Beyond minifigure (Terry McGinnis).

Literally only showed one picture of the classic cowl, the other cowl you showed was the dark knight cowl that they ended up using a lot in between the short ear version
