Exodus (19 June 2000) - Ethnic Germans are moving back from Romanian villages to their homeland.

At the beginning of this century, 700-thousand Saxon Germans lived in Transylvanian Romania. But since the revolution 10 years ago, hundreds of thousands have sought a new life in Germany, and their villages are quickly becoming ghost towns.

Romanians have adapted the vampire myths to great effect economically , with a flood to tourists coming . But how much of this is actually German heritage ?????

Saxon heritage is not particularly german heritage. Germany and France killed saxons and the rest fled to romania and established in transylvania.

Gipsies are not the biggest ethnic group. By census, they are third after romanians and hungarians.

Times had changed, now transylvania is very modern.

Indeed, Sibiu city centre is much better kept nowadays.

Video filmed in 2000 and uploaded in 2018, did they put the video on private and forgot about it ? Maybe something changed from 2000 to 2020.

since that time the German population has continued to shrink .There are now less than 30,000 ethnic Germans in Romania and thats down on the 800,000 before WW2 .

Well, you can check on google maps, in streetview the Church has been restored (in the Nochrich village at the beginning of the video) and compare Sibiu now....beautiful restored city center.

Maybe it wasn't up in 2000 because youtube was founded in 2005 lol
