Raiding in WoW has always been the most popular feature of Blizzard’s most popular game to date and it can be confusing sometimes to understand why for the modern player when there are so many alternatives to the game nowadays. Raiding is viewed as the pinnacle of the game’s existence, challenging the most seasoned veterans and casual players to think outside the box and give it their all. We have watched for nearly two decades just how much the fights and players have progressed from the “standing and hitting” dilemma to thousand dollar funded organizations to topple the bosses the quickest upon release to prove they are among the best in the entire world. It could be argued the Race to World First, a phenomenon that has existed since WoW’s beginning, has helped keep the popularity of WoW so afloat, as now anyone can tune in and learn from the best of the best. Over the course of this video we are going to be talking about the complete history of raiding in the Battle for Azeroth expansion, an expansion that surely sets in stone our current perception of raiding in modern World of Warcraft.

As someone who didn't really start playing till the end of BFA, it's great to see videos like yours that go through the history of the game that I never got to see first hand. Keep up the great work!

The funniest part imo of the N'Zoth bugs is when the encounter bugged so hard, Blizz had to hard despawn N'Zoth to stop an accidental bugged kill, and in the process despawned N'Zoth across all of NA. Still remember seeing that happen and the hilarity of it all.

The whole "21st man" was something I assumed all the high end guilds did forever, I cannot believe they never did that until BFA. It's a great strategy for pretty much any tactical situation. In the military its referred to as overwatch.

all the changes after 8.1 untill the end of BFA, i adored it. 5/5. i can’t believe how good it got. and G’hun’s raid? still loved it. the rest of the game was just rough at the time. hated the GMOD boss though w t f

G'huun was the worst fight I ever progressed on. Not only was it incredibally frustrating to wait 5 minutes until your warlocks had proper gateways and so on while all you could do was pray and hit some trash mobs. But it was also 0 rewarding. He only dropped trash. Uldir was the worst raid I have entered.

To be fair, BfA was ok until 8.3. I don’t miss how much grinding there was. However, at least old wow heroes story lines were good. 8.3 is a failure to bring WoW closer to a lesser diablo imitation and made short work of N’ zoth.

I think it's a little disingenuous to say that Method became Echo. Many of the best players left Method after the scandal. Echo is its' own standing guild, that currently stomps the still existing Method every raid tier.

raiders come and go all the time and their streamers and leaders basically become the guilds faces. I dont even know how many og raiders are still in method. from what i remember scott stepped back and stopped raiding aswell. I'd say the guys that left method were method and not the other way around. if that makes sense.

Echo at the time was everyone from Method except Sco. So Method did become Echo more or less.

Kinda ironic Ion Kazzabasket said it was "mathematically impossible", as it's something a certain someone has stated before and it was proven wrong :P Great video though! For some insane reason, I actually watched all of the RWF in BfA, even though I hadn't played myself since the opening of that Helya raid in Legion. Was a fun and intense race. And a good thing about people streaming it and guilds being both NA and EU, was the fact that no matter HOW fucked up your sleep schedule was, you always had something to put on the screen to either watch or watch until you fall asleep.

Lets not forget that you absolutely NEEDED the legendary cloak to even fight N'Zoth. Even in LFR you needed the cloak because its was essential for one of his mechanics. I hardcored BFA. Was in a Method sister guild and honestly BFA was some of the most fun ive ever had playing WoW. The corruption power and azerite traits made the game so much more fun for me. You actually had some customization to how your class played.

Bfa was the first expansion I couldn't find something I enjoyed even warlords I had some fun I quit during bfa and Shadow lands and was convinced to come back for dragon flight

18:05 they have this in SoD with the crafted pieces having effects that only work in sunken temple or the emerald dream areas, i know it isnt retail but maybe they start bringing them back more.

BFA was the first time I’ve raided and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I only got up to heroic and didn’t do anything hardcore it was just super casual but really enjoyable.

I really liked BFA's raid set, Uldir was probably the weakest but it was still solid. BoD is like just top tier out of any expansion. It'll always be remembered as the raid where Liquid choked at the very end tho (or well honestly they've done it multiple times since but) I remember our guild selling a ton of Glacial Tidestorms to fund our exploits in Nya'lotha lol.

BFA was a missed xpac for me. Got kind of burnt out In legion bc I was in a guild pushing mythic on every raid tier and by time BFA came out and I hit max lvl and started raiding I was just done. Came back in the start of shadowlands and felt like the game was truly over. Decided to try dragon flight but by then I didn’t have a guild or and friends anymore so it was just LFR or pugs and that didn’t give me any want to raid hardcore again. Hoping the war within turns around and has great raids and not a shitty gearing system like in BFA bc I hated the necklace shit and missed my badass weapons. But it’s nice seeing how dedicated players still are to beating some of the hardest raids blizz has given us. AND GO NA!

BFA was...wierd expansion. Most of it was just bad, but MY GOD the raids were amazing. Aslo one thing you forgot abaut N'Zoth. The fight was so long on Mythic you straight up start in phase 2...

4:10 no. Zul was also overtuned, UNLESS you did a complete cheese strat with 5-6 subtlety rogues, funneling all the damage into the boss from adds. You would bring crawgs and other adds near Zul, let all of the rogues get 5 combo points in 1 GCD with shuriken storm and then Eviscerate the boss over and over again until he was dead. This was the time, when SS would also buff Evi's ST damage, which made it possible (and Blizzard did blizzard things, promptly removed this buff and pretty much killled Sub rogues until the end of the xpac). Only after a handful of nerfs, the fight became somewhat OKayish during farm period if your guild didn't have at least 3 sub rogues.

Also as for memorable experiences? Taking down mythic N'Zoth with a 40 man tank raid all wearing the HP increasing essence for every tank in your raid and everyone stacking as much Twilight Devastation as we could, with a bare minimum of 18% TD Imagine our surprise when Blizzard took away our kill....despite it being an in game system and not a bug or exploit abuse.

Another good video. With that out of the way, and with all due respect to those of a different opinion, I believe this idea of designing raids well one players’ mistake can wipe an entire encounter isn’t a good mechanic and it really needs to just be taken out of the game. Mistakes are going to happen and this level of punishment is extreme and does not respect the players time.

Normally with wow xpacs I play at launch but I've normally dipped out before the first patch even drops but BFA I really liked (with the exception of azerite gear, fuck that shit) and played right though until mid 8.3. that's the most I've played a X-Pac since Cata when I hung up my "hardcore" MMO player mindset. I thought BFA was great overall.

Like seriously easy during world first, you just have to have no life to figure it out faster than other no lifers. After world first it is simply "when boss does this someone does this" and hit the dps and healing checks by "when boss does this, pop your cool downs" , super easy mode stuff.
