THE EYES OF TAMMY FAYE is an intimate look at the extraordinary rise, fall and redemption of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker. In the 1970s and 80s, Tammy Faye and her husband, Jim Bakker, rose from humble beginnings to create the world’s largest religious broadcasting network and theme park, and were revered for their message of love, acceptance and prosperity. Tammy Faye was legendary for her indelible eyelashes, her idiosyncratic singing, and her eagerness to embrace people from all walks of life. However, it wasn’t long before financial improprieties, scheming rivals, and scandal toppled their carefully constructed empire.

Really? I didn't like it. It either glossed over or completely ignored some of the most important events. It went overboard in portraying Tammy Faye as a nutjob. There was a big Difference between Jim & Tammy. Tammy truly started out only wanting to show ppl that God loves them. She knew nothing really about money accept what Jim and that sneaky ass rev wanted her to know. She and Liz were the first to get out there and accept the gay community. When all hell started breaking loose she saw what the need for material things had done to her as well. At which point she moved forward in her life bringing happiness and love to all those around her. I have heard EVERYONE who has stated they met her at some point (In a store, library, gas station ect) she was always sweet, humble, and kind. her personality of wanting to bring joy to the masses, was genuine. Both before AND after the scandal !! But JIM BAKKER is nothing but a snake, selling snake oil!!! Don't think for a minute that Fallwell didn't know about what Jim was up to, and getting paid also. He wanted to get his hands on PTL so bad. It was laughable watching him tell those ppl what a lying, cheating, jerk, Jim was. Fact is so was Jerry Fallwell. (If I spelled his name wrong, so what). I just don't believe that Tammy KNEW she had become a crook herself and when that realization hit her it hit her hard. As her Mother often said.....Tammy you follow blindly.

I thought the wardrobe designers for that moving did a TERRIBLE job replicating Tammy Faye's wardrobe. Tammy Faye was all about shoulder pads. She never went anywhere without a choker necklace and big, bold shoulder pads. Even when dressed in a jogging suit, she always made sure those shoulder pads were high, bold, and proud. The dresses they put on Jessica were dowdy and drab - not at all reflective of the cutting-edge late-80's style the real Tammy Faye was known for.

1:58 It's all about using a type of hypnotic speaking tone accompanied sometimes by easy move-along music and of course energy, feigned or real on any given night. Just look at the audience. I say this not mockingly. I know this is just the movie but it is the same in real life in mega churches everywhere. I'm loving the outfits worn in that time period ~ out of a pure nostalgia.

Maybe when Jim & Tammy started out, they had a good idea, but when the money started rolling in that was the end of them, famous people have a way of controlling others. In the 1960's a guy by the name of Soupy Sales had his own TV show & at 1 one time he told his viewers to go into their parents wallets & send him all the green stuff because & he would get rid of it for them, he even gave the children an address of where to send the money & boom, Soupy started receiving bags of envelopes with money inside when u added up the money it came to million of dollars, shortly there after the show ended & Soupy was fired. I can only hope all the money was returned to the parents provided a return address was on the envelope, very funny guy, but very rotten in his thinking. Jim & Tammy did the exact same thing started asking people for money so they could help others, the only others they were helping was themselves, they became like billionaires overnight. Lived in beautiful homes drove expensive cars, had a theme park designed & built just like their hotel & donation boxes were everywhere all for their benefit. PTL club even had an air conditioned dog house & had no dog, they told people to send in there money so they would be helping others, the sad part is the others were Jim & Tammy, 2 rotten crooks.

Tammy knew what she was doing. She was the frontman for his con. He used his wife to get the charisma that he didn't have. He didn't give a crap about her. Sometimes money is blinding but it takes a real trashy person to want more and more and have no sympathy towards anyone. She obviously thought that as long as she is well off bts antics don't matter.

I grew up in NZ church in the 80s & never heard of this couple or their ministry. Maybe because we didn’t have Christian TV Network back then. After watching the movie & then all the interviews of the real Bakkers, I can see how tacky their act is. They come across as a happy clappy couple trying to spread the gospel by entertaining etc, but I think they were using Christianity & TV as medium for financial gain. They act like they’re just trying to be nice etc, but I think they knew exactly what they were doing.

Handle God's business and His children with care. You may like them, you may hate them, you may approve or you may disapprove of them but remember because leaders and peoples have mistreated and abused them civilizations have disappeared from the earth and strange phenomenons in weather patterns have driven whole tribes into corners, into rocks and crevices to spend out the end of their pitiful days. You may not believe in the God of the Holy Bible but someone, some intelligent being somewhere in the vastness of space loves them ordered the Holy Bible written for them and operates with a huge hand and a stretched out arm in caring and avenging them. Call it another dimension, call it a parrell universe, call it anything you like but they are loved, protected and avenged. Maybe you should have allowed a peaceful God to recover from the original damage you inflicted on these people. Be afraid be very afraid, apologize and move respectfully away. In Psalm 105 you will read that His judgements have never left the earth and His covenant with Abraham is everlasting and the same promise He confirmed to Jacob as a law and to Israel as an everlasting covenant. His great nature is shown in His everlasting promise and record.... He suffered no man to do them wrong yea, He reproved kings for their sakes. It does no harm or change to His prophecies if earth enters the great tribulation with ruins and structures greatly damaged from violent huge storms and phenomenal convulsive seemingly natural events of destruction on man and his progress. By no means is God going to just hand this planet over to the filthy and the wicked. Many of you are not going to repent. You are not going to stop trying to destroy everything God like until He sentences you, binds you and casts you into a devil's hell.

She clearly looks nothing like her, but I think she did an incredible job and her little giggle is great.

wow!....she doesnt even sound or try to sound like Tammy and that really takes away from the whole movie because Tammy had a bubly sound to her voice and this woman is FLAT!....she wants to be noticed over the character she was suppose to play and so she ruined the whole movie....at least the guy sounded like Jim and had many manerisms but she didnt even try!........the whole move is dissappointing...shame on the directors for put out half assed movies!
