You unlocked a memory with those shape ups. My mom bought a pair that she LOVED and couldn’t wait to go for walks everyday to show them off. That was the most active summer we had as a family 😂

I worked at a shoe store when these came out. The amount of people that fell for the marketing was wild. I was 16 and knew it was a gimmick. Great commission though

I used to work at Sears and witnessed their "fashionable" clothes that were exclusive to Sears. They were clearly not items that would ever be worn by any of the sisters. 🤣

Kim actually made a 2008 calendar for her then boyfriend Reggie, Kris thought it was supposed to be a public calendar and released it on news paper stands in Calabasas. Rob was there and saw them so he called Kim and they bought all of the calendars there was. It's a possibility that someone had bought the calendar and sold it, it could be REALLY rare right now

Kendall and Kylie did a collection with an Australian brand called Forever New (Ever New in US/CA) and it was a complete bust. They paid for them to come to Australia and promote the collection at shopping centres and everyone just come to see them and never set foot in any of the stores…. Everything went into sale 😂

This video about the Kardashian brands is a good reminder to me that when people are successful they most likely have tried and failed many many times before succeeding. A good reminder to myself that I should just go for it, try and try again. Learn from failed attempts and one will succeed

The problem with most people is that after one failed attempt they do not have the resources (money) to try again- at least not back to back like the Kardashians do. But I agree we should never give up!

I totally owned a pair of Sketchers Shape-ups back in the day. They were the most unstable shoes that I have ever worn. I’m seriously surprised that I didn’t break my neck wearing them. 😂

I didn't realize what crooks the Kardashians are- that debit card was insane. $100 to activate it? That is pure robbery. As the daughter of a manicurist, I can tell you OPI makes bomb products, so I am not surprised that even a decade later they were still vibrant. My mom - even though she finally retired last year - still has OPI polish from 10+ years that is still good to go

Quick pro tip: Old nail polishes can be refreshed using a few drops of nail polish thinner! OPI has their own polish thinner I would suggest you try. The colors will be good as new.

As a person mainly into makeup KZfaq I remember the whole Kylie brush debacle. The high price from the brush set would not have been an issue, if the brushes would have been luxury quality. However I did not see a single positive review on the brushes, the consensus seemed to be that the brushes quality did not hold up to the price they were sold on.

To be successful you need to learn by trial and error and thats the same in business- you actually learn more in failure than in success as anyone successful will tell you. I found this super interesting its not like they were successful in business because they are Kardashions, they just persisted and tried (and failed) at projections and learnt as they went. I actually have a lot more respect for them now!

So regarding that Sears line.... My mom and I totally got a couple of items from the collection back in the day lol. I worked at Sears so I got a discount, and mom being a Mexican Boomer absolutely gravitates towards any animal print. I think the last item we still had, a cheetah print body con dress, was sent to Mexico some months ago in a box full of clothes. Yes, the quality was not premium, but mom has always been very good at taking care of our clothes, even fast fashion items.

As a bookseller, that book was so annoying to come across in the fact that they came in wrapped (because she did have inappropriate selfies for the general audience) and nearly all of them had people unwrap the plastic to gander at those inappropriate selfies. It’s a lot to have to continually replace the plastic wrapping on just one title. Edit: and Kendall and Kylie’s book? Someone once ripped out the “signed” page, and I’m pretty damn sure we couldn’t return that title to the publisher. We were stuck with that bitch for a while.

What I love most about this video is that is shows that even the most successful people have failed multiple times along the way. Back in the day, Macy's department store had its own version of the popular "shape ups". I had heard how great they were but was very disappointed when I bought them--really awkward and clunky for walking. I ended up keeping them in the car as "emergency" tennis shoes. HOWEVER...years later, I developed a problem with my big toe (hallix rigidus, to be exact), making it painful to put weight on my toes or the ball of my foot when walking. *Guess what was the only shoe I could wear comfortably?* Haha, yes, those clunky "shape ups" were a god-send as they took weight off the front of the feet. I wore them until I was able to have surgery. And I still have them around...

If you don't mind my asking, how did that start in your toe?? Like what were the first symptoms you noticed? I'm having an issue with my big toe and that's the closest thing I can find to what might be happening, but I don't have any limited range of motion, so I'm not sure if its just early stages, or what.

@@Palitato I used to walk my dog a mile or three most days.... During those walks, I began to notice some painful intermittent hurting in the front of my foot, around the big toe. It eventually was not just "intermittent"; I mean, it came to a point where I had to avoid putting weight on the toe when walking. Could not continue with long walks. I had never heard of hallux rigidus until going to a foot doctor! It's not the same as a bunion, though the pain is a bit similar. (I have a bunion on my _other_ foot at the moment. For me, bunion pain is not just around the top of the foot where the bunion is (which happens to be near the big toe), but also on the side of the bunion. With hallux rigidus, the pain was localized to the big toe, where the cartilage between the toe's joints had worn away, leaving bone rubbing against bone.) Warning! The first foot doctor I went to immediately told me I had a bunion. I always get a second opinion, if possible. The second opinion was "hallux rigidus". So then I went to doc #3, who, within about 2 minutes, also announced "hallux rigidus". I ended up using doc #2 for my surgery, and he was great. (He also did an x-ray confirming that it was indeed hallux rigidus.)

@@andydufresne5297 thanks! I definitely have localized pain, and there's a weird lump at the base of my toe, on the top of it. It's very hard, and feels like it's part of the bone. Definitely doesn't look like a bunion!

@@Palitato If possible, try to get it checked out, because I'm guessing it's only going to get worse, not better. (That's not just me talking, that's other peoples' experience, too!) Funny thing is that the first doc I saw was recommended by a couple of folks. He's the one who said "bunion!", and he gave me an impressive explanation of what a bunion is, what causes it, where my pain was coming from, etc. His demeanor was very professional and he seemed very knowledgeable. He did not take an x-ray or any sort of image. I was so impressed with Doc #1, I never expected my second-opinion doc to give me a different diagnosis! But he did! Second-opinion doc also said that the best way to confirm hallux rigidus was with an x-ray. We did that in the office during the visit. Then showed me the x-ray, pointing out what was happening with my toe (hallux rigidus), why it happens, and what my options were for treating it.

I got some of their boots about ten years ago, from revolve online store, I'm in UK, they were actually really nice, one black leather ankle boot and one black tall zip up boots. I still have them in their boxes somewhere. You've reminded me to dig them out.

I worked at Sears when the Kardashians line was there and We never sold any of it until it went Clearance prices. And then not very much, I remember boxing a lot of it up and it going to Charity. Love the Polish part of the Video, your face when you noticed the smell! Makes me wonder how bad it was!

I have vivid memories of going hiking with my family wearing my shape-up sneakers and complaining how badly my feet hurt to the point where my mom and I had to switch shoes. 🤔 I got a similar shoe (toning shoes) from a different brand (a better one IMO) and they are THE MOST COMFORTABLE shoes I’ve ever owned (and am constantly on the hunt- bc they don’t make them the same way anymore)- I even hiked Machu Picchu in them! Really I’ve hiked all over the world with them. They may be heavier than some other shoes (not excessively heavy though) but I remember when I was in elementary I became obsessed with these really heavy doc martens that I would wear all the time- now those sandals were like 10 lbs each 🤣🤣🤣🤣 got amazing calves though 🤣🤣🤣🤣

One business venture of theirs I will always remember was their 2010 clothing and accessories line called K-Dash by Kardashian sold only on QVC. They collaborated with designer Ginny Hilfiger (Tommy Hilfiger’s sister), and actually had some cute items ranging in price from $20-$240. They had some really cute bags!

I thought it was interesting they had so many “failed” brands and stores. I never followed them, but I guess their fame made their business ventures profitable regardless of the items being of good quality or not, or even if they items were bad ideas.
