Award Winning Fan Film!!!
A nostalgic trip to the classic 77's STAR WARS feel. Short after the events of A NEW HOPE, R2-D2 and C3PO must return to TATOOINE to locate an Imperial artifact for Luke Skywalker, while the Jawas and the Empire are lurking nearby...
The film was created in Unreal Engine 5, using Lumen and Nanite

The film started as a learning project. I jumped into Unreal Engine 5, excited about new possibilities brought by Lumen - the new lighting system, and Nanite - the way to stream the meshes that saves usage of the computer resources.
When I downloaded the Valey of the Ancient, I thought it looks a lot like Tatooine from Star Wars and how I wish I could see how our beloved C3PO and R2-D2 would look in there. And that's how it started. Then from shot to shot, the script came along and the Star Wars story emerged, growing to become a full fan film, when a wonderful bunch of talented people joined and put so much love and work in it!

@@Av-vd3wk It is pre rendered. You can't get that quality in real time. Real time is good and simplifies your workflow, but when you're happy with the look of your shots, you render them out in higher resolution and quality. That's why most of the time, if you look at the games, the cinematics look better than the game itself

This was so well done, it does not need any allowances made for its fan film status. If the entire finished film had run just 10% faster, it would have matched the pacing of the original. The production values were better than the original in some places: and why not! Fans today have a great tradition to build on, which didn't yet exist for Lucas and Co. My biggest problem was the voice of C3PO. I don't think it matters that the voice was different, but the character was different. 3PO is more brisk and assertive with his comments. And he is often impatient and at times contemptuous of R2D2.

I love this one and have downloaded it for personal viewing, it captures everything great about the opening Tatooine sequence of A New Hope, no big battles, just two lively droids that happen to be lost, this is the magic of Star Wars for me, light hearted stories about characters and situation in a very relatable galaxy far far away. Very good and the relationship between C-3PO and R2D2 is spot on. Fans should check out the NPR radio adaptions of the early 1980s, available from various sites including KZfaq .

For a fan film, 9.5/10. The graphics were very good. The transitions were spot on, very Lucas/Star Wars. The voice of C3PO can totally be forgiven, made up for by the interactions of the characters and that they conveyed more with beeps, woteenies and chitter chatter than actual words. Well done.

The voice of C3PO can be overlooked since he is apparently equipped with advanced vocoder hardware which can mimic all sorts of voices anyhow. The woteenies - along with all the other Jawa speech, noises, and behaviours - are actually very entertaining.

The Rise of Skywalker alone took more than $1 billion worldwide... so as much as we may love the scaled down, authentic feel of these fan films and indeed the originals - you and me and every other sucker/idiot that paid to go see them unfortunately just says to Disney they're doing a bang up job. I mean $1 billion! For one of the worst films ever made... It's mind boggling...

Loved the push-in on R2 as the Jawas started their attack on him and the Imperial Probe Droid. Very dramatic. Excellent work all around.

Great film. The visuals were fantastic. I was drawn in so much that I wanted more from the story. What was that crashed pod? Why did Luke want it so bad? Where does this fall in the Lucas storyline? (Questions like this happen when you put out a good product and people want MORE)

We see the "fair trade" worked out between R2D2 and the Jawas. But I'm curious what "fair trade" ("special arrangement") C3PO made with the Jawas. Did he actually deceive the Jawas, deceive R2, or even offer R2 as bait? Is he more of a lying and manipulative _political_ droid than a loyal and trustworthy _protocol_ droid?

Some of these fan made shorts, are far better visually than the original movies of the 70's and early 80's. Its amazing what people can do these days visually with home computers. I am pretty sure the software and production was still pretty expensive though.

Excellent work! I've just started playing with Unreal Engine myself and it's amazing what can be done with it. Some very high end stuff on a low end budget. Terrific fan film. I'm curious, what deal did Threepio make? Maybe you should show that in a sequel! Subscribed!
