The small arms markets of Darra Adam Khel have made themselves known throughout the world for the immaculate ability of talented Pashtuns to handcraft a large number of small arms and produce almost identical copies of numerous Western designs for over a century. In this episode, we look at a few rifles that were produced in Darra, along with their original Martini-Henry or SMLE originals. In addition, we take a look at a local monstrosity that is an 8mm magazine fed, M1917 Enfield action married with a Kalashnikov outline of a receiver and actual folding AKMS buttstock.
This episode will be the first in a series of three total, looking specifically at these small arms from the gun markets of Darra from the long gun perspective, the Kalashnikov perspective, and a handgun perspective. as well.

Imagine what these guys could do with a modern engineering shop? Pretty impressive. The Lee-Enfield would still be a very useful and robust long-arm in their harsh environment.

@@lmAIone Nahh ur wrong on that one buddy. From the experience of my parents yes they were poor but they they went to school and get a degree and now we live a really comfortable life in the states. People stay poor because they give up with that mentality of "once your poor you stay poor". If you just take that to heart u will stay poor because u dont push yourself, but if u want to make a better lifestyle then push your self. Don't tell people who is poor and stay poor is so fucking wrong. Btw im a filipino-american and my parents are grew up in Philippines. So if you are poor now work hard to get a better life, now it will take a long time but u need to dedicate yourself to that goal to achieve it. That is what America is all about

I'll never forget an Afghan army officer showing me his pistol, it looked like a Mashup of a few pistols but the best part was that they marked all manufacturers names they knew into the slide. It said Smith and Wessen, Baretta, Colt and a few other that I forget ... I smiled, looked impressed and handed it back ...

Thank you, ive been waiting for a gun channel to do a proper cover of these Kyhber Pass guns. I cant explain why but I just find them fascinating. Most laugh at the crudeness but im interested by it. I guess its just part of keeping your mind open and learning about other people. So many people close themselves off from the world. Anyway your videos have gotten much better Miles! To be frank your earlier videos were hard to watch. Pronunciation on point here. I can see the effort that went into this one. Good job.

The Bolt action AK has a receiver/bolt designed from a P14 Rifle, so design wise, strong enough for 7,9mm ammo. The rest of the AK is decoration, but the folding stock is well proportioned to clear the Bren clone Magazine. A bit of a beast to fire with the stock folded! Doc AV

looks like a krink booster on the front of that thing too. i mean an ak action is two lug lock up so not that far off. like the smith got tired of seeing left over parts from each gun and decided to make one out of both parts. pretty awesome actually. had to build a completely bew reciever to fit the throw of a bolt action. i seen a thing about similar underground craftsmanship in the philipenes or something making a bunch of 1911 clones amd selling them to order for local thugs n shit. some of them were really good other times were sketchy as hell lookin.

ACTUALLY, Americans do better with foreign pronunciations than most other nationalities. For example, we pronounce our commonly used foreign words more or less correctly, while Europeans pronounce them as they would expect them to sound based on their own spelling rules. And then you have the French, who make up entirely new, contrived French words for things for which common words already exist, all in an effort to avoid nasty foreign contamination of their precious language. Talk about xenophobes!!! And the English, don't even get me started on them. Just listen to how they pronounce words like beret and fillet. The Germans do the same thing. It's really about time all this ignorant bashing of Americans came to an end, because that's all it is, ignorant. It's a myth perpetuated by people who have no clue whatsoever about America, or about the world in general, and whose only firsthand experience with such things comes from the stupid box. Because if you actually get out and do any immersive traveling in foreign countries you'll find that Americans aren't really much different from anyone else, despite what the media and self righteous poseurs would have you believe. P.S. I'm pretty sure this guy is actually Canadian BTW. Oh, and maybe you should look at some school room maps in British English, French, German, and Spanish; because I can assure you that Americans aren't the only people who translate geographic locations. In fact, I would say in general that our geographic names are closer to the actual names than the equivalents you will find in French, German, and Spanish. And while we're on the subject, why isn't this a two way street? Why do you not criticize other nations for not pronouncing United States correctly, and in an American accent? Don't you find it rather insulting that the French say Etats Uni, especially when we pronounce their country's name more or less correctly? And don't you find it insulting that the French say Allemagne instead of Deutschland, and the Germans say Frankreich instead of France, or Franzoesisch instead of Francais?

There are many small metal shops all over the world that produce everything from firearms to truck parts, cooking utensils to edged weapons. Thing is, a lot of those hand fitted parts are very well made. Certain firearms have hand fitted parts when they are originally built which makes it possible to create a high quality duplicate.
