Many of the roads that exist in the Falklands were not built 30 years ago when troops had to yomp their way through the wet and boggy ground from San Carlos for their date with the Argentine Forces. The enemy had embedded themselves in the mountains. It was here that the Falkland Islanders played their most pivotal role in guiding troops towards Argentine targets dug in on the mountains.

A film of the Falklands War needs to be made from the islanders perspective, including how a British officer phoned ahead to receive vital information about the whereabouts of enemy troops. RIP Susan Whitley, Doreen Bonner, and Mary Goodwin sadly killed by friendly fire, and all the brave lads who fought but never made it home, including Geordie my husband's Best Man.

I just watched a video on KZfaq called The Falkland Islanders War. So good. Goes into lots of detail of the Islanders who helped the British, and made life as difficult as possible for the Argentinians. Highly recommend 👍

@@christinalaw3375 the military junta were becoming increasingly intolerable to Argentinian people; invading the Falklands was to unite everyone and celebrate finally having the islands they called Malvinas in their possession. Recruits genuinely thought they were liberating the islands from British occupation without understanding the islanders were also wholly British in culture, language and loyalty.

Wow... that is a really interesting accent. It sounds somewhat like a fusion between a British, Kiwi and South African accent. With a population of just a few thousand, I guess there are not enough Falkland Islanders in the world for the sound to be universally familiar...

I watched a video about a hypothetical invasion under current conditions. While the British have built bases like the one shown (I remember something about three radar stations) the Argentinian economy has gone down the crapper and they haven't invested or upgraded their forces at all.

J Coy 42 Cdo, yomped half the night toward Goose Green with 2 mortar rounds per man, after dropping those rounds off we took up positions near the airfield cutting off any possible enemy escape before they surrendered.

The inhabitants voted for the uk so no. Also the only time it was argentinian was when a Business venture was set up with approval of both britian and buenos aires and when the guy running it asked for help against american ships Argentinia just made him governor of a island they didn't own and the US ships they tried getting rid off destroyed the Business venture alongside the attached settlement and then the british actually went to live there since they had made their colony there in 1765 which they had to abandon. So tell me how long was it argentinian and how long british
