notable stuff from the comeback of 2023: in 2022 there was some slight percentage of people constantly revisiting the game after they left in 2020-2021 but the comeback of 2023 also had something to do with the revival of the obby community and the games getting popular by yt content

Here are more reasons fe2 slowly faded into irrelevance. 1: it got stale. Although we had new, weekly updates, 90% of maps we would play would just be the same. So eventually I quit alongside the release of undersea facility. 2: crazyblox patches significant skips within the community. Backjumps were removed, added back, then removed in the span of 2 months. Walljumps eventually got removed too, making fun; skippable maps boring. Also, as soon as air diving gained traction with the instant switch in direction, crazyblox patched a skip related to it that made it impossible to air dive next to walls. 3: the community itself. Because of the influx of new maps, community members would become more toxic over opinions. This drove many (including me) out of the game for awhile. 4: the revert back to monthly updates/bad map choices. A new update every month may seem like alot, however if you get consistent on a hard map in a week, it just becomes boring. After the anniversary update, which had a load of enthralling maps, the game became boring again due to monthly updates. Eotl was probably the worst map to ever graze this game. After you finally trudge through the mediocre decoration and insufferable gameplay, a bug might prevent you from winning. Deserted district was too easy, and the skip ruined it too. A lot more maps I haven’t covered.

I agree, I never even got the badge for “end of the line” because the last button at the end was extremely buggy, I beat that map at least 20 times, only for a buggy button at the last part. The removal of weekly updates was also kinda frustrating, since we could at least have one thing to look forward to for a week. There is a spectacular amount of community maps that could be added. The game has huge potential, but crazyblox doesn’t seem to realize what would happen if he added 1-3 new community maps weekly. That’ll certainly make the game a lot more playable and interesting. But of course, we can’t expect so much out of Crazyblox anyways.

i mean i left in 2020-2021 because 2 things: • the corner clip drama on roblox (rest in peace) • repetitiveness slightly making people more disapointed and making them quit the game and for the people who did not get bored but then we ended leaving too bc it felt too boring to keep playing

Patching walljumps and backjumps is something that should have been done since the beginning tbh, thats Crazy's fault for taking way too long.

Backjumps and wallhops aren't that easy nor consistent so they deserved to stay in. It's not very fun to do the same easy map over and over again since skips that are actually more challenging than the map itself but give you a faster time is a fair trade

i remember, from 4/13-18/2023 there was a DROUGHT to the games updates, so much i had to quit, after playing for almost 3 years.

The big reason why I mainly think flood escape lost its big popularity is cos new games starting popping up like toh and brookhaven and all of that but the people who were still doing obbies after prob were just doing tiered obbies and Jtoh

I can see that as a possibility, but by the time these games grew in popularity, Flood Escape 2 was already collapsing.

fun fact: at around late 2021, it was im pretty sure the peak of fe2 in the speedrunning community however, at around late 2022 to early 2023 the speedrunning community died cuz a major patch happened to roblox that wouldn't allow to do a technique called backjumping. also there was just too many maps that were added

March 3rd was the patches. Multiple speedrunnrrs hated it so much someone stole the game and removed the patches or made an older version. Examples are FE2 Reborn, FE2 2019 and 2021

i feel like revamps make a lot of players stop playing for example: bs:ed got a revamp which made me not play for a year dungeon quest got a revamp which made things look worse somehow fe2 was probably trying to make stuff better but the revamp made lots of people stop playing

Great video. I rember ALWAYS playing fe2 in late 2017-mid 2018 (Don't rember exact time) but over time I lost intrest and did not play it for a while. During mid-2023, I played fe2 again and noticed A LOT of new things lol.

bc the removal of the OG code mode of CM maps, the copyright thing, the slides and the revamp... i stopped playing, so many maps were lost...

I would like to point out that patching glitchs removed like 30% of the already weak playerbase as long as anything to do in the end game when you beat all maps. It uad potential as ot had mechanics only found in it like backjumps.

7:06 Um actually, we had the addition of Northern Mill (Normal), Toxic Woods (Hard), and a new agility mechanic called Airdiving in the January of 2023🤓☝

this is just me but i started to lose interest when they changed to each maps per difficulty per month instead of 2 maps per week. there just wasn't anything to look forward to each week anymore imo
