This is a genius. One thing I took from this is his need to not engage with the media noise, anything to do with being defined or to be placed within a pre defined context. His ‘function’ as he put it was, I think, just to be himself as an artist/person and to let things come through him in as pure and unaffected way as possible. This is what is lost in the race to ‘win’ or ‘achieve’ in the arts.

best MES interview online due to the intelligent interviewer. you can tell MES was at ease and felt respected by the good thoughtful questions and the pacing.

Always come back to this... reminds me of finding an interesting person to talk to in the pub at 11am.

A lot gets said about what a difficult interviewee he was. He seems pretty pleasant and forthcoming here.

Jesus - like a cop interviewing a tertiary witness to a crime but it’s great when MES asks questions himself; keeping himself entertained.
