What i love about your videos is you always show us the item inside the box. I know there are many magic reviewers want to keep the secret for the trick so they can not show everything in the box, the just only "tell", but you always show us exactly what we gonna receive and i really appriciate that. Keep doing that, please.

Reminds me of those three other marketed releases by Noel Qualter: “Shit-faced!” - a picture of a public toilet vanishes and re-appears stuck to your forehead. No magnets! “Fumbled!” - a folded square of tissue paper disintegrates into little pieces behind the performer’s back, before being discovered scattered across the floor. No rough and smooth! “The Burp” - a utility item enabling a multitude of effects, including the impression of being an utter prick. Instantly repeatable!

Thank you for review unfortunately I have it on order from Alakazam last week before I have seen this and I just saw Harry's video first challenging this and then I watched yours after and you seem very straight forward in the way you justify your opinions about it. If I had seen this before I ordered it I might have been hesitant placing the order. I will feedback once I have mine in my hand. I agree about knowing where to get replacements of things you need like putty. What annoys me the most is some effects come without the extra things you need to do the effect and it isn't mentioned and in this case the putty is supplied but not explained where to get more. I started magic in 70s and 80s and 90s when you had to go to a magic shop usuallt before internet so you could ask all these questions face to face and see the effect demoed. I have got lots of magic I bought like this that are still in box upstairs because I find they are not workable as perceived. I am autistic so I need clear unambiguous information and I was convinced by trailer this is a real worker.
@EverythingMagicPro99

It’s not a terrible effect, Simon but it doesn’t do what it promises. Just ask Alakazam for a refund. It’s your legal consumer right. I hope you’ll stick around on my channel and hopefully I can help you from filling the magic box upstairs with more useless tricks.

It is a real worker. This trick will be amazing in most instances IF your act works with it. Mine does not. Some of what Perry says in the video is accurate. A lot is not...or I should say is grossly exaggerated. I would not recommend buying this trick to people, but that is because I personally would not use it. The viewing angles are fine, and I think that...and this may just be my autism fixating on that complaint...Scott Perry is being ridiculous about "how bad they are." You simply cant perform this for someone BELOW the trick. So if you perform this for seated people you will need to perform it lower than for standing people. As any magician knows, some tricks you simply have to adapt your positioning to perform. This is no different.

Thank you for the review. I also watched Craig Petty's rant. Between the two I learned more about this product than I would have if you hadn't done the review. Craig has a minor point that perhaps you could have ignored some criticisms like the confusion over why Matthew is on it... who cares. However, I could make the same point that Craig should have just ignored these points as most viewers are going to ignore relatively insignificant points, such as why Matthew is on the video. All in all, thanks for the review.

Appreciate the sub. Yes, I’m quite disappointed with Alakazams video calling me a liar and saying that my review is merely “complaining”. Not what I expected of an established magic dealer. I just try to show people what they receive (without giving away the method) with products and offer my opinion. By no means do I think everything I say is correct or that people have to agree with me.

I have just discovered your channel because I bought a SpiderPenX. I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree that there is exposure in this review. Something you seem to be very good at not doing in your other videos. Instead of describing how your hand goes under the plastic with the deck you should have just said there is a point during the trick where two magnets come together and there's a loud click. Let's said this was an excellent and useful review it might save many people lots of money. Excellent.

Very honest review. I saw Craig Petty do a review of this and he had Noel on and was very chummy with him. He then gave it a rave review saying you can perform it anywhere. On stage, walk around, close up at etc. I knew this to be wrong as just by looking it, I knew the method, and could see there were all kinds of issues with it. One thing I hate is chummy reviews where they hype the trick. The problem is, magicians are used to being less than honest in their patter and this kind of thing seems to come naturally to some and over spill into other areas. Also Harry Nardi was totally unprofessional in his comments on your honest review. Thanks for giving the real view of this. I wouldn't have bought it anyway as the load looks terrible and the removal of the top card is obvious. I shall certainly follow more of your reviews and not buy anything from Alakazam after this, as well of being very wary of anything Craig Petty has to say in future!
@PositivityGaming
@PositivityGaming Жыл бұрын
It can be performed anywhere. The only bad angle is someone sitting on the ground! I dont like this trick personally as it doesnt fit my style, but it is a solid trick with a wonderful visual effect. The complaints here about viewing angles are bizarre and the complaint about how it sounds...really!? There is nothing truly bad about this trick, if this is the type of trick you want to perform. Also of course it is hand made! That doesnt mean it is badly made! Further when you buy a trick like this you are largely paying for the intellectual property and the need to not have to make it. $37 is very reasonable under those circumstances.
@PreservationEnthusiast
@PreservationEnthusiast Жыл бұрын
@@PositivityGaming Usually on a stage show you are raised up, so those in the front rows can probably have an underside view. Agree about interpretation of hand made... it can mean a variety of things and I didn't read much into it. However, Vanishing Inc described the gimmicks as "extremely difficult to make" so there wouldn't be any more made after the first run sold out! More marketing hype trying to close a sale and misleading. I think most people can make stuff with tape, shims and m**nets. Intellectual property is an often overused term. I don't see much new or original here. Remove top one and let bottom one fall which was held up by a m**net. It's been used for penetration effects many times before. Coin in bottle and many others.

Is this done with two identical cards, magnetized together, which you put on either side of the plastic? And when you do the move, you use another magnet to lift the top card? Wouldn't that cause an issue with the plastic if done wrong, or if done too often? How strong is the plastic? It would explain why they don't clearly show them putting the card on the plastic, because that must be the toughest part to do without revealing anything. Or is my idea wrong? I realize there must be other details in the routine, but based on my guess and what this reviewer is saying, this does not seem like a quality trick.

The trailer infers that you can drop the card on the plastic then almost immediately slap it and it goes through. That therefore is in my opinion an unfair trailer because you CAN NOT DO THAT. There is something that the trailer misses out that you need to do…and therefore the trailer is in my opinion unfair. How do I know what you need to do…I’ve seen Noel himself perform it. If the trailer was fair it would show the entire performance without anything edited out so that potential customers can make a fair informed choice about whether they want the trick or not. The sad part is that the ‘thing’ you need to do isn’t even that bad/hard. I’d have much more respect if that part was kept in the trailer. Out of principle I will not be buying this. Trailers need to reflect what you will get after your have spent your hard earned money on the trick. There are too many trailers made in this fashion nowadays. In short…Noel himself doing the trick is not the same as Noel doing the trick in the trailer. That ain’t right.

Such an evidently powerful effect must have _some_ contexts where it works very well. A small group of adults standing around you, for example; do it and create a major buzz. When begged, do it again later. (It can be repeated later, but not in a typical high-rotation walk-around context; you may be right.) Too many reviewers accentuate the positive, but there's a risk _here_ that you have accentuated the negative. Sure, the marketing claims can be contested. However, I've seen worse offenders than The Fall... Your review, and Steve Faulkener's, provide _very_ useful information though. Some people who watch your review can sensibly decide to buy it anyway. I wonder why so many viewers, reviewers, and sellers are so _sensitive_ about one person merely saying something that they disagree with. They seem to think that what one person says online will totally persuade anyone who views it. So, in umbrage, they strive to condemn and nullify those they disagree with. Why can't people let differences of opinion simply pass by with little or no comment? Sigh.

Okay. So I have bought this effect. Having watched this review. I would like to give some feedback. Firstly I would agree that if you are wanting something that comes straight out of the box with no skill needed of any kind, then maybe this effect isn’t for you. Yes, there are some things in the trailer that had people known about you may not have purchased this product. However, I have very small hands for a man and I find it difficult to palm cards, but practice practice and more practice has meant that I can palm a card without anybody seeing and therefore can palm this because it’s all about the presentation. You don’t need to be able to Palm a card to do this effect, if you think when you “push” the card through the plastic bag they are going to be burning your hand as you palm the card, then you need to look at your performance skills more than the method itself. Next. The gimmicks. They both fit in standard deck so what’s the problem. Could you have made these yourself? Yes of course, so why didn’t you? You pay for the secret. How many of us are still the same deck of cards we were at Christmas? I’m not. Reset. Yes Noel talks about going to a corner. How many do bill in lime or something then don’t reset? Angles. No issues at all. The effect means a person either side of you and someone in front. I’ve done this in a packed bar. “Raised stage”. Who’d thing of performing this on a raised stage? Not because of the angles but the audience would be too far away. But I could see that they are so far away that you could perform this. It’s all about the right effect for the right show and this isn’t The Falls fault. Having said that, whilst it doesnt
@seanmcausland6491
@seanmcausland6491 Жыл бұрын
Play big it would be easy on stage but why would u. Now I set a challenge for myself. So, in summary, I think that this review was a bit harsh, but that’s just my opinion just as much as it is the reviewers opinion. I think virtually all the negatives that are portrayed in this review. Come down to the fact that you need to be able to manage your audience, and focus on the performance, because if as I said people are looking at your hands, while the card is falling, then your performance isn’t good enough, and that isn’t the effects fault.
@EverythingMagicPro99
@EverythingMagicPro99 Жыл бұрын
All good points. I didn’t say it’s impossible to perform with small hands, nor did I say spectators will burn the dirty hand. It depends entirely what audience it’s being performed for. I would not be confident performing this for my clients. My point about the gimmicks is that the trailer exaggerates “hand made gimmicks”. There is a huge difference between an actual hand made gimmick like sharpie through card and a card with a bit of tape on it. I’m not comparing this to bill in lemon. The trailer says “5 second reset”, “perfect for live performance” and “the ultimate walk around”. It’s none of those things. They are marketing lies. As I say in the review, angles are good for the 3 people it’s being performed to. It’s not good for anyone else. As with all my reviews, they are my OPINION. Everyone is welcome to have their own opinion.

Then indeed Up getting The Fall (in a mystery box, so I didn’t pay for it “directly” and would have zero problem not using it), and I actually quite like it. I think the reason is- ironically- I did NOT watch the trailer or read any of the hype. I listened to your thoughts, then checked it out myself , and found it’s something that fits my style, and I already have a great lead in for how to get into it. Anyways… thanks again for being straight up, and also agreeing that it may not be a “bad” trick, just not one for everybody (most magic, to some degree or another?). Cheers.

Ok, card in plastic bag comes to mind….similar premise but way easier and more practical if you wanted to do this sort of effect. Now regarding the magnet, a clear plastic ring with a magnet attached to the top of it would be a little bit more suitable and realistic for real world and a much better idea than putty. These are just some ideas that would of ‘improved’ the effect/idea. Unfortunately I’m making the best out of a bad situation. 10/10 Scott for information and honesty.

After thinking about your review, I think it would be beneficial for you to try to put magic products into one of several categories: This is amazing, likely to be a classic / This is great / This is really good / This is good / This has a few limitations / this is not workable or breaks easily / this thing doesn't even work. After watching a few reviews I would say this product falls in the "this has a few limitations" category. You could have dispensed with many points such as the hand made "issue" and the matthew "issue".

I actually never said anyone has to palm, Mark. People seem to be twisting my words. I said that this truck is difficult to do for people who are unable to comfortably palm or fit a poker sized card in the palm of their hand. If a person cannot comfortably fit a whole card under their flat hand, they will really struggle to perform this. The trick does not require palming though.

How are Magic props/ tricks covered by Trading Standards? How much of the cost is packaging and intellectual property? With the magic industry being so niche, I don’t think it’s ever reached the trading standards radar. I’d love for it to be more regulated. With regards to refills - it’s utter nonsense that producers don’t tell magicians where they can buy these things but instead charge us marked up prices for very small quantities. I am not associated with anyone, or any company involved in this project. But since you seem to think 10 years as a pro means anything, I have over 50 years in magic, and over 40 performing. Either semi-pro or full time. My credentials go far further than that. You also have some very big time names commenting, and seem to think too highly of yourself. None of our credentials should matter here. Any of our credentials. I was an active inventor, creator, and handmade manufacturer who quit after having so many products ripped off in the 70's and 80's. Many creators have quit for the same reasons. I only heard of you because of all the controversy you are creating. All tricks have limitations. All. Show me a trick with limitations, and I will show you myself, and many tons of performers pulling off a lot of tricks that take hudzpah to pull off. Certainly there are bad tricks, and poorly made gimmicks that regularly come out. This is not a bad trick. Or a bad method. Do what Malini did. Practice palming cards in public. You can easily call someone forward, shake their hand while holding a palmed, signed card, and then load it in their pocket. And my hand is smaller than poker cards. Use deep gambler's cop. This effect is not entirely new. Nothing in magic ever really is. About 20 years ago this more or less same trick was sold as a coin through glass table effect. I have a version from the 1940's that used the same method for a one by one coins through table effect. All have limitations, and all fry people if done with confidence in your performing skill, and people management/likeability. You sincerely seem like a decent person, but it is not cool to show people what you get, and how tricks work as soon as they come out. It is entirely possible to film both positive and negative reviews of new effects without blatantly revealing methods. In fact, that is how most reviewers have done it for decades. Ethics are most important here. Whether you know it or not, you are deeply crossing into unethical exposures in your reviews. Especially when they are brand new effects. (Put plainly: the magic selling industry is about selling secrets. Sure there are some clunker tricks out there, but what some like, others don't. If people stood outside movie theaters and told everyone going in the storylines and plots of the movies, and how they end, how many people going in will still pay good money to see the movies, they now know everything about?)
