What will be the seismic shifts in the year ahead? The appearance of this outfit convulsed world politics for several years; struck fear into the hearts of people all around the world. Islamic State is the most vicious and murderous jihardist regime the world has ever seen.
In 2017, it will be smashed. The defeat of Islamic State will be one of the most significant things to happen in 2017. Forces from some 60 countries have taken the fight to Islamic State. It now clings to two key strongholds, one in Iraq and one in Syria.
Controlling territory is what defines Islamic State. Recruits have been drawn from all over the world to fight for its declared domain.
In October 2016, an Iraqi-led force launched a concerted effort to reclaim Mosul. The city is set to fall within months with the Syrian stronghold of Raqqa and a few remaining pockets likely to follow shortly after. But many of the fighters themselves may outlast Islamic State.
For the west too it may prove a pyrrhic victory

@@Alsahli_717 In fact Russia during Soviet Union time doesn't use much airplanes, however the Swarming tactic became obselete Russian modernization on military includes missiles, air superiority and artillery as a must. They are doing a more slow operational attacks but effectively destroying or weakening the capabilities of their enemies in the long run. They also lay open areas for enemies to escape or to let enemies advance on a much favorable positions (Feign retreat). These are Putin's military tactics used all the time on invasions or interventions because they are effectively being used in Russian history despite possibly higher casualties Russian military is a thorn on roses to cope with thanks to their artillery and air support enemies surely get higher casualties when they are on open fields or cities when Russia get an intel on them. They don't prioritize tanks much since the Chechen wars on the Modern Warfare especially Urban areas that's why they used much of their old tanks.

Very sad ,unfair and disgusting what was done to my brothers and sisters in Iraq. I am a Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim ) so i know what aggression is. I hope Iraq recovers. It is deemed "illegitimate" precisely becuase it is contrary to the status quo, so this is an ironic comment. Why is international law legitimate and theocracy is not? in the worst case both are man made and in the best case the latter is divinely ordained.
