Italy's 2006 World Cup victory marked the end of its footballing dominance, as the Calciopoli scandal that same year led to Juventus's demotion and weakened Serie A financially and competitively. Despite AC Milan and Inter's Champions League wins in 2007 and 2010, Serie A has since struggled in European competitions, losing top talent to the wealthier English Premier League. Infrastructure issues and outdated tactics have further hindered progress, along with a decline in youth development. Resistance to modernization persists, and while Italy won Euro 2020, it has performed poorly in World Cups, failing to qualify in 2018 and 2022, highlighting a significant fall from grace.

i do believe that spaletti could change some things in these next years the fall of ac milan and inter since 2011 was the final nail in italy's coffin but now i believe italy could totally qualify for the world cup and be a hard number in the euros, if they rely on young hungry players and get old underperforming players off the starting 11

The difference between Italy and England, is the English football is full of money and financiaments, meanwhile in italy passion and love is the engine of the team, but when you make the result at the end, Italy has 4 wc, 2 EC and England? So guess what who is doing worst.....

I wouldn't agree with that. I will tell you that Italians have enough financial resources. Problem is that they don't have talents or even they have young players they are not given chance to play. Simple stadiums are rare and rare. Local people don't visit local small stadiums for supporting their kids. Less and less kids in Italy. No attention to younger immigrant players which could help them, conservative thinking etc

There's a little word for that it begins with a B and ends with a T. Italy is historically known for spending big money as well as ownerss making cash injections into teams before premier league clubs started to do so as well and very often a lot of that money wasn't even their own( witness Berlusconi leaving Milan in debt). "iTaLiAns hAvE nO mOneY" nonsense. How do you think that Napoli and Inter bought Ronaldo from Barcelona respectively , both times breaking WORLD RECORD fees? Because serie A is and always has been one of the absolute wealthiest leagues in world football and even now, despite having relatively stayed behind in terms of budget, their revenue is still comparable to that of the premier league. Even the second league of professional Italian football serie B is richer than MOST first division leagues in Europe. Serie C literally has a higher revenue than the entire greek first division but remember Italians have no money it's all about their passion 😂.
