In this video, I will do a side-by-side comparison of the skyline destruction in the halo tv series season 2 vs. the video game cutscenes. I think the show did a very good job replicating it, but I wish they had focused on the destruction longer.

The TV show didn't really let the tone set for long enough. Sure they were upset for a second, but then it was the surprise attack which changed the mood very abruptly.

for sure, spent too much time on dumb shit instead of setting the tone and showing how doomed they really are. All the kwan stuff should have been cut for more world building on reach. They tried. Like showing ackerson's dad and then he kills him so he won't suffer but its so damn fast. Or the blind spartan washout and his lover who both die but again its so quick you don't even care. also in the game you have some victories early so when the doom does set it it hits even harder. in the show there aren't really any victories. It's all mundane BS and then the covenant are there and kicking the shit out of them. I assume the show is gonna do it in reverse and show some victories AFTER. Because there is still that scene from the trailer where they attack the corvette.

Halo Reach did such a good job of setting the atmosphere without talking about it. Music and imagery was all that was needed to set the proper tone of all hope was lost.

It complete broke the Books rimeline, and to this day is a mess.

Honestly embarrassing that a 9 episode show wasn’t able to grasp the emotion, scale and severity that a 15 year old video game with 90 mins of cutscenes did.
