Even if it hadn't been acid, it didn't seem like Perry thought the rain idea through at all. Obviously it looks nice, but I think regular water would've ruined the speakers and lights, and it would've made all the beds wet in the private rooms. Also I don't think a mass orgy would've been very fun under cold rain full of rust and bacteria. Half of them are wearing leather, and water isn't a good lubricant. Best case scenario, everyone at the party gets sick, some people get electrocuted, and the sex is unpleasant.

Let's take a moment to give props to the sound guys, especially after the screaming stops and everybody's down. That awful, slimy squishing and sloshing sound as the dying writhe their last is the cherry on top of the horrific visuals. Another nicely subtle moment: as the camera closes in on Perry gasping his last you can hear Jenny murmur, "Daddy..." in her dying delirium.

Chilling scene. Not just because the people who were killed went through unimaginable pain and agony, but because what lead up to it was an out of control kid trying to impress his father and that human desire lead to such carnage and pain and torment. And looking at it from Prospero's point of view- the realization that everybody's dying because of your terrible idea... Its an unimaginable level of agony. As an anxious person myself I sometimes think back to situations where I did something stupid like throw a rock too wildly into a pond and how that could have hit someone and killed them. It's my greatest fear and I think the best horror touches those. Also chilling is the parallel between the cruel experimentation on other animals and Prospero setting up an anything goes party for humans to experiment as an experiment to prove his idea.

Prospero makes the club’s true purpose quite clear to his two confederates (though not to his father and aunt): Lure people in with the promise of depravity, then control them with their own sins. @Nexils
@Nexils 8 ай бұрын
In the Divine Comedy the lustful souls are trapped in a storm, destined to restlessly blow in the wind forever. The heretics are the ones that are burning. The color red is most likely based on the Poe story where this episode is based on, where a prince named Prospero locks himself and other nobles up in a mansion to escape a plague named the red death and have a great time, but a figure dressed in red robes (representing the red death) manages to enter the house anyway and kills them all.

@VulpinetideCuteTimes0w0
@VulpinetideCuteTimes0w0 7 ай бұрын
@@Nexils You're referring to the 2nd circle of the inferno where the lustful are damned. What the OG was probably referring to was the "punishment" or cleansing that takes place in the seventh terrace of Purgatory (not hell), which involves a wall of flames where souls must pass through to cleanse themselves of their excessive love. I heard that this wall of fire is also not like the fire we are familiar with. Someone described the flames as being god's burning love, replacing or introducing better love than the one's the sinners of lust are familiar with. Does it still hurt? yea probably, lol. Purgatory, unlike hell, is not eternal damnation, it's more of a right of passage through cleansing so a soul has a chance to enter heaven. Only those that have not committed a great sin that caused the death of another or oneself and have accepted god and Jesus as their lord and savior, at the last moment of their deaths etc, will likely end up here. Don't mistake this for Limbo however, as limbo is for those who did not sin, but did not have the required faith (believe in Jesus or the one true god.)
@kevinpetroff5486
@kevinpetroff5486 7 ай бұрын
Wow, then 99.9999% of the US should have their skin burned off? Have you ever had a sexual thought? That means you're "lustful". This scene isn't about so-called "sin". Every character in this show died according to how they lived, even if they lived trying to better the world, like the character of Vik. And there isn't anything wrong with having sex, or orgies, or enjoying yourself. Be responsible, use a condom, treat others the way you would want to be treated, and enjoy life. No reason to shame yourself with baseless religious nonsense written by a bunch of sand-people 3000 years ago who thought the earth was flat.

Outside of Vic being the exception due to her girlfriend's death, not many of the Usher kids involved other people in their downfall (and the few that witness it only come away with trauma, heartbreak, or injuries that they eventually heal from). Perry's death was the most destructive by scale because so many other people at that party died along with him horribly! 0_0 It's like something straight out of the movie, Society...

I can't even begin to describe the level of anticipation and anxiety that filled my body throughout this episode that ended in the feeling of horror and emptiness after it was all over. I could scarcely believe my eyes how graphic this scene was and how excruciating i felt bearing witness to something that the words 'horrifying' and 'petrifying' can't even begin to adequately define. For me, the entire episode lead up to this moment with subtle but obvious hints, the lawyers accusing the family of environmental damage with the medical waste at the site, the using it as a venue, taping into the water tanks as opposed to doing it the 'right' way. Everything was spelled out for us in the first 20-25 minutes of the episode about what was going to happen. Flannigan, put us on the vantage point and we got to watch it play out exactly as it was supposed to. He put his audience in a mental place that all we could do was bear witness to this level of destruction, making us helpless as the catastrophe unfolded before out eyes and powerless to stop it. By allowing myself into the minds of these characters and empathizing with them during this incredibly difficult and uncomfortable scene, it shook me to my core. I was NOT ready!

This scene somehow reminds me of the real-life Ozone disco tragedy in the 1990s in the Philippines. The only difference is that in the ozone disco, the partygoers were stuck in a fire incident. On the other hand, in the second episode of The Fall of the House of Usher, the partygoers are stuck in the acid rain. Realistic horror scenes scare the s*** of me.

The first time I watched it I just came back from the club, you couldn’t even imagine the horror and terror I felt. I immediately had to binge the entire show and wasn’t disappointed. What is actually kinda sad about all of this is that Perry wasn't really that horrible compared to the rest of his family, yes this was all part of a scheme to blackmail rich people but compared to what the rest of his family does (with the exception of Napoleon who really wasn't a bad guy at all), it's really kids stuff yet he got the most painful death.

Dude this episode was so epic, devastatingly horrific but in a effed up way, beautiful, and what I mean by that is the cinematography in the way it was edited the script the music/score/soundtrack. I am a horror fanatic I often joke that I am numb to the genre, but this had me glance away the first couple times also the fact that Perry Prospero really out of all of the usher children may have been the most innocent. Not that he was in fact, innocent but I guess I could say maybe the least. But then again, I don’t know I struggle with that because he convinced his brothers wife to come to his soirée, just to see if he could, that’s pretty cold calculated so I guess we can say innocent he was not but the eldest brother and Prospero were a far cry from each other. What he does to his wife makes me wanna change him to a chair where he can have acid poured on him very slowly so slowly that he wouldn’t die he would just lose some body parts evil F•••!! And I love how Verna says to him right before he dies that he could’ve had a quick death, but he had it just go and take her home and then pull out the pliers. That was sweet justice watching his slow death. But I think Prospero didn’t quite deserve this kind of a death but who am I to judge this show was a masterpiece. The only thing that was a little cringe was at the very end, when omg what was Rodrick sister’s name Madeline I think when she was walking around without her eyes that was pretty cringe. I definitely could’ve done without that why I write such an epic show and then get lazy in the last 15 minutes and not only that this last 15 minutes in question was built from episode one when first mentioned, when Rodrick told his longtime friend, drawing a blank on his name, anyways, that she was downstairs. Another observation I have made I don’t know if anyone else has the Amazon prime has the original with Vincent Price for rent or buy only of course they would capitalize on it.😂
