To watch a real good adaptation of the Edgar Allan Poe's tale forget about this trash and go to watch the 1960 version directed by Roger Corman. That's good cinema

I'm very fond of the original works of Poe and have read almost all of them. And I'll admit that modern adaptations of classic stuff tend to suck just out of their main goal to please today's masses, but I also have to second @BuzzardPlanet97 on this one: Mike Flanagan isn't just some mediocre Hollywood writer. He is an artist in his own right, who can produce outstanding stories like "Midnight Mass" without the need to just adapt someone else's work. Although this series has a very different feel, I enjoyed it a lot and especially all the little nods and hints to the original stories by Poe. It was obvious how much respect Flanagan has for him.
