Fallout: New Vegas has a long and rich speedrun history, that is filled to the brim with ridiculous glitches and tricks. Across the years, the speedrun community has worked hard to push the world record for New Vegas further and further - resulting in one of the most optimised speedruns of the entire Fallout series.
But how did we get here? and how exactly were these ridiculous tricks discovered? Well, join me as we venture though the long and convoluted history of Fallout New Vegas - recounting every World Record and every Glitch found.

I love that one Rhydou run. Instead of just complaining or trying to get people not to count it, he put his mind to it and proved he could beat it his own way. That sort of sportsmanlike attitude is something I love about speedrunners.

Incredible work Jabo! Shoutouts to my boy Sharo in this video. He's one of the best speedrunners that I know of and I really miss the old F:NV streams where he was pushing for sub 10

Kungkobra is not only a speedrunner, he's also a modder with a pretty impressive resumé under his belt. His knowledge of the game's mechanics and engine translate well into scripting and environmental design.

If you haven't yet, check out Karl Jobst, he does similar videos but on different games, and with his own style/humor. He's also been a big name in the whole Billy Mitchell story and is being sued by him. So if you've heard of that but never looked into it, his videos are pretty short but informative about the subject.

Always intersting to see how it started from. I tried to see how quickly I can complete it just for the fun of it, no glitches or anything just playing the game normally and how much you actually need to play to get to the end. I think it was around just under 50 minutes according to the ingame timer (not sure how different time it gives from the external tools), it was great fun.

Really great video. Had fun & learned a lot about the history of the speedrun of any % NV. I know in the life of many games we reach a point where people claim wrongfully that it's over, it's done, we can only shave off a few seconds with flawless execution, resulting in a loss of interest. But sadly i feel like this time for any % NV it's the case. I hope it's not and someone will bring another new trick up his sleeves (fitting for a game revolving around the strip) Thanks to the speedrunning community of New Vegas as a whole, you did bring a lot of fun & joy to a well liked game.

I’ve been casually following the Fallout speedrunning scene since 2015, so this was an amazing nostalgia trip for me. Great work, Jabo! I would also like to note that this community has produced/revealed some amazing talent. Jabo, obviously, is a charismatic live-streamer and creates some of the best Fallout content on KZfaq. The same can be said for Tomatoanus. And Kungkobra is a budding mod dev whose debut new world/quest mod is one of the best I’ve played.

Banger video as always!! Speedrunning really caught my interest back in 2016 with the Dark Souls 3 all bosses runs, and since then I've been on and off paying close attention to the developement of different runs. I've come to love that initial route/glitch finding process that happens with the release of a new game, witnessing just how fast the WR evolves when the community is active. It's so fun to be utterly amazed by a new WR, only to see a new one be posted just hours later. So in short, this video captured my favourite part of speedrunning perfectly.

This is a great video. I've been playing fallout new vegas for a long time mainly because of it's amazing modding community, and the speedrunning side of it has always amazed me ever since i found out about the reload dashing. This was a really informative video amd hopefully it gains the attention it deserves.

On console, I've found out how to jump farther and faster forward by pressing forward at the right time while jumping. I can get it 10 times in a row sometimes, and has allowed me to get places I've never been before

I love that just about 8 months after this video was released, just today on 8.3.2023, WaveClipping submitted a run of 9m 01s ... just 8 months since the last video and the WR is already almost half a minute shorter! Sharo with a whoppingg 9m 07s in second place - also absolutely brutal.

See, ive never been a part of the speedrunning community, but i always remember hearing about the big records throughout the years. World record videos would always show up in recommended and i can see why its been so popular for the most part of FNV's lifetime.
