@@PorschaTaylor-tc4gx it wasnt close at all. Usyk comprehensively beat Fury and it was AT BEST 8-4 Usyk if were being very generous. 9-3 realistically plus a knockdown. AJ and Fury did about the same. Sure Fury gave Usyk more problems but he got KOd as a result. We all know the ref saved him or itd have been a loss by straight KO. AJ didnt give Usyk any real problems but on the flip side he didnt take much punishment either and never looked in any real 'danger' like Fury did. Usyk has a reoccurring strategy of getting to know your opponent in the first 4 rounds, going easy on them to see them turn their energy up in the middle 4 rounds, giving them false confidence... then the last 4 rounds he pounces and shocks everyone. He's done this in every one of his heavyweight fights.

I think Usyk is even past his prime now, the first AJ fight was the best of him in terms of movement in and out of range. As you guys mention his lateral movement has somewhat lessened, but yet again so is Fury's movement. If this fight was made 2 years ago we would have gotten an even better fight imo
@MediaTextReviewer
@MediaTextReviewer Ай бұрын
Maybe Usyk's movement has decayed, but then again, I got the sense that his strategy was to plant his feet with Fury more than he would in some other fights. Fury taunted him as a "jumped up middleweight" who would "run rabbit, run" and just spring around and try to tag Fury and win on points without getting stuck in. The tough Ukrainian champion with over 300 amateur fights (and trust me, amateur fights tend to be scrappy as fuck) was out to prove that he could stand and trade with the bigger guy, bully him into corners, and even knock him around the ring like a pinball (and to be fair, that's exactly what he did XD). He wanted to stand his ground and go mano-a-mano in this one. Fury pissed him off for years building up to this fight.

Yeh sure sure, but as an older guy who's read books an cn careers play out in realtime, lemme tell u bout a guy called *Cassius Clay* back in tha 60s he was such a young blowhard they called him *'loiusville lip'* ...he proclaimed himself 'The Greatest' and once sed he wanted to murder an opponent 'cos he was *white* . Then he became a *war dodger* , not given a pass like Usyk, but refusing to do military service fer his country, using social justice disparity as an excuse, while many of his black peers lost their lives in combat. Over time he lost his titles in an out of the ring, an like Fury he never put his mouth away cos that was his trademark see, an ppl expected it. He went on to perform many courageous deeds inside the bxng ring, whilst surrounding himself with activist idealogues an a militant brotherhood. Over time ppl forgot many of the things he sed an did, an all they remembered were thos battles and acts of bravery in the sport he was born to excel in. Here endeth tha lesson.

@@BOYTOY_HEAVEN Like you I saw many of Ali’s fights because I’m also an old boy and remember him refusing to go to war, becoming a Muslim, changing his name, his hatred and rants towards his opponents. What was excepted in the 60s and 70s is poles a part from today particularly with race and sexuality. The difference between Ali and Fury as world champions, Ali fought every credible opponent of his era, he’d talk shit but would fight. Fury defence as a world champion has been pathetic and he’s not fit to clean Ali’s boots let a lone tie them and people compare them. The only comparison between the 2 of them is their disrespectful behaviour out of the ring.

@@PorschaTaylor-tc4gx Fury's plan for a while has been based around the fact he loses to Usyk and AJ. The fact he doesn't sell on his own name. The fact he wants money not legacy. The reason Warren gave for why he couldn't fight Sanchez, Kabayel, Hrgovic etc is because "I'm in the business of selling fights" and if Fury sells on his own name alone it wouldn't be a problem selling those fights. His last big payday opponents were Ngannou, Usyk and AJ. If he fights AJ first, he loses, AJ then fights Usyk for undisputed and no one wants to see Fury vs Ngannou. If he fights Usyk first, he loses, he can do alright financially vs AJ but no one wants to see Fury vs Ngannou. Everything he's done, ducking and lying, was to line it up for the most financial benefit using everyone elses names. Ngannou, then Usyk, then AJ. The fight wasnt close like people say it was, it was controlled by usyk bar the 3 rounds in thr middle.

What bugs me slightly bout Usyk is that the paid media constantly talk his skills up so much, that ego-centric characters like AJ an Fury (not gona count Dubois cos he's 'special' an not a champ) seem driven to try OUTBOX him an prove everyone wrong. Think back to Chisora, who lost 10 fights so don't really GAF - it was so obvs he knew he weren't gona OUTPOINT Usyk over 12rnds, so he threw e/t into trying to chin him until his stamina ran out (a strategy that worked OK for 5-6 rnds but ultimately not quite cos Chisora not mobile enuff to find usyk's chin consistently). AJ had TWO fights w/Usyk, but still didn't try step to Usyk and trade from first bell, cos he wasn't prepared to take gamble and risk being stopped later on. Then fukn Fury ALSO didn't gamble, instead trying to bt Usyk on back foot with uppercuts yada. This went fine until he got clipped square on chin r9, then almost lost on a stoppage. If fury don't throw the dice in first SIX rnds in the rematch, then it'll be same agin, jus like AJ...Usyk has way too good stamina to try bt later on in a fight...best chance is to stop him first 6-7 rnds, as we just saw.

The rules state that when the boxer is no longer standing without support of the ropes it is to be treated as a ten count not a standing eight. The referee is correct.

But you do know that Fury was only held up by the corner post. That is technically “down”. Those are the rules. You are not allowed to hit a man when he’s down. Usyk won entirely justifiably without having that post-match question pasted on him. We should be happy.

Jeff Mayweather and Ricky Hatton both say that FURY made the same mistake of trying to out box a more skilled boxer - too much movement, FURY should have planted his foot and used his power the first 6 rounds and than used his weight to smother UYSK the last half.

Brian, Fury's chin is completely shot - in David Price territory. Look at the gameplan - it was to disengage and avoid mixing it with Usyk. He can't put it on Usyk like he did vs wilder 2 because his team know his punch resistance is GONE

He gets beat when his age starts to really effect his movement/output. He’s already starting to slow down imo (since second AJ fight) and if he continues to slow down and *still* fight, eventually it’s bound to happen.

The ref made the right call by the rules, if a fighter is only standing because of the ropes, then it is deemed a knockdown and up for an eight count.

I like that the ref stepped in and treated it like a knock down Instead of stopping it! It WAS a knock-down, he just fell into the ropes so the Ref did well there and there's no Froch V Groves controversy. This was champ vs champ but generally when it's a champion vs a challeneger and its a close fight I prefer to see the champion retain. You should have to beat a champion clearly and decisively to take what he earned and Usyk did that!

That's u and *everyone else* in uk. But imvho as an older guy who's read books an cn careers play out in realtime, lemme tell u bout a guy called *Cassius Clay* back in tha 60s he was such a young blowhard they called him *'loiusville lip'* ...he proclaimed himself 'The Greatest' and once sed he wanted to murder an opponent 'cos he was *white* .

Fair breakdown, I did want Fury to win (don’t come for me 😅) but Usyk is an absolute class act. Love the way he conducts himself. The better man on the night won . I think in a rematch Fury has to come out more aggressive on the front foot from the get go. Fury also needs less people in his corner, how anyone can compute all those voices talking at you is beyond me. No need for it.

The recommendations for Usyk to retire on top and undefeated fail to take into consideration that his country is in an existential war of self preservation. The millions he makes, and the spirits of his countrymen that he lifts, have value far beyond what another champion boxer nearing retirement might have.
