Bassline is surprisingly funky for a late 80s kids cartoon 😮

This cartoon was broadcast in Peru in the 90’s with the original english intro theme. Heard it everyday after school. Now, i can understand the lyrics 😂. Love it! Greetings from Lima! ❤

I saw one episode of this cartoon when I was around five years old on a visit to the UK, and this catchy theme has stuck in my memory for over three decades.

Fun Facts about the song's creators. They were written by Gavin Greenway and his father Roger Greenway who also sang the song. Roger is known as half of a song writing duo with Roger Cook for such UK songs like You've Got Your Troubles (The Fortunes), I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony) (Susan Shirly) and Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress (The Hollies) to name a few. Some modern-day movie watchers would have heard some of their songs in recent films like Kong: Skull Island (Long Cool Woman) and X-Men: Dark Phoenix (My Baby Loves Lovin) Then you have his son Gavin Greenway, not only did he and his father also collaborate with Peter Maddocks on his other cartoon series like Penny Crayon and Jimbo The Jet-Set, but he would also go on to conduct movie scores for films like Antz, The Prince of Egypt, The Thin Red Line, Chicken Run, The Road to El Dorado, Shrek, Gladiator and MANY other film scores for other big name film composers like Hans Zimmer, John Powel, Harry Gregson-Williams, Patrick Doyle, James Newton Howard, and more. He also worked for Disney creating the scores for the firework show IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth and the parade Tapestry of Nations both for EPCOT. As well as BraviSEAmo! for Tokyo DisneySea.

possibly the best kids theme tune EVER! few years ago we had a big surprise birthday party for a mate made it a kids tv themed one, and somehow got the 30-odd people there to sing this tune, as someone had it all printed out massive on one wall. never heard this full version before with the verse at the start, just a shame it doesnt go into the theme used at the end credits 'you may see an annaconda, a giraffe a kangaroo, but you'll never find a nessie in the zoo!"

Damn this song brings back memories, got to love it. BRING BACK FAMILY NESS!!!!!

Fun fact: Angus and Elpeth were used in a book by Peter Maddocks in 1983 called "The Sneezing Whale". They looked exactly the same but they were Welsh instead of Scottish and were called Thomas and Gwyneth. So that explains the T on Angus's shirt, Eizenn.

CBBC was at its best back then and Family Ness was one of my favourite cartoons when I was little.

Another theme song anchor in the foundation of my childhood. Such a classic, as soon as I hear those notes go floating across the waves, just wow. Epic nostalgia. Thank you for uploading the full version. Oh to go back and spend a week in the 80's again.

The feeling I used to feel when this theme started up, this was before I even knew my great grandfather was in fact Scottish, I got to meet him some years later as he was astranged from the family for some time, it may explain why I adored this series so much ❤️❤️❤️

For those wondering who the singer is, I actually got confirmation from Simon Clew (Gavin Greenaway's media manager/long-time collaborator) that the singer here is actually Roger Greenaway.

This is the sounds track from my own 45 single as you may have seen on the familyness website, its infact a promo record and i have never heard of or seen another copy. The promo sticker has been photo shoped out dew to copyright at the time. I am gald people are enjoying my recording i made even now, it nearly ended up in the bin!

In response to "GnC Films" (i dont see the "reply'' button anywhere xD) if they released in cd or vinyl (which they probably did) im sure it will be kinda hard to find, i looked in ebay and they just got some DVDs of the show, maybe if you look around online or on music stores

Didn't do they do a full length version of the theme tune in the last very last episode? It was different from this one, they did do the intro part but also another "You'll never find a Nessie in the Zoo" verse which is played over the credits usually.
