This was so poorly researched. just general platitudes and lacked detail. Images were poorly linked and DeSoto was canceled in 1960, not 61. The 61 model was its last. It could have been a great timeline documentary but was so disappointing.

Learned to drive on a55 Firedome and have loved them from 55 through final 61s. It's Delightful 🎵 It's Delovely 🎶 IT'S DESOTO🎵. And tell them Groucho sent you. 😉 My ultimate dream cars are 61 LeBaron and 61 DESOTO. The grand finale of Exners fabulous finned fantasies. Fortunately DESOTO went out with FINS soaring high and was spared ugly styling of 62 Plymouth and Dodge! 🤮

It would be based on the Chrysler, not the Dodge or the Plymouth.

World War II was from 1939 to 1945 not 1942 to 1945.

Chrysler made a big mistake killing off the DeSoto and bringing out that cut-rate Newport series. It ruined the Chrysler's prestige image. By 1962, the sales of medium-priced cars was once again rising. Yes, they had already moved the Dodge upmarket, but then they came up with the Dart, (the full-size version), which eventually made the Dodge nothing but a variation of the Plymouth. Now, there is no more Plymouth, and soon, there might not be a Dodge car, only Dodge trucks, called "Ram".

Desoto's problem was its spanish name. That's all.

DeSoto didn't have any problems until they brought out that cut-rate Firesweep model, which was a disguised Dodge, and like all 57 Dodges and Plymouths, it was very poorly built. Dodge, for 58, brought out an expensive Regal Lancer that was priced at DeSoto's market. Those two unwise moves brought about DrSoto's death spiral
