This is an old hobby in India. I know collectors who have been collecting from the 50’s. I am myself a collector from childhood in the 70’s...

Here’s a collection to be proud of. At one time I had 560 1/18. die cast . When times were tough or I was restless I would go downstairs and calm down by enjoying these little jems. Some people would come over and look at me like I was crazy while others could t stop looking at my collection with admiration. I didn’t care it was mine that’s was what mattered.

Excellent video it's great to see other crazy people out there. My collection is now around 8500 models primarily 1/43 scale but if I see something I like I buy it. Just remember he who dies with the biggest collection wins!!!

This by far the best and most interesting video on diecast car collecting I have ever viewed. Thank you Zeegnition. Also the Indian collectors who were interviewed were an inspiration to new and old collectors. I admire the intelligence with which they approach their hobby, and i hope and pray that they inspire hundreds of other collectors to follow them and study the history of the automobile and the works of art which the models are. indian collectors are probably the best and bravest despite the location of India away from the metropolis of diecast in Europe & the USA.

I can imagine how difficult it must have been even finding a single hobby shop in India, let alone finding a source for buying model cars and trucks. I lived in Guatemala as a child and would buy Matchbox Series cars from a grocery store of all places, but as a young collector back in the early 1960s you bought from any source that you could find. I know that the internet has changed collecting to a point where you can collect from anywhere that there's an on-line computer. This has been such a big factor in the growth of the hobby. Thanks for sharing this video of some great car model collections from India.

Great upload, especially the explanation behind, however when I started way over 45yrs back as a hobby, prices, availability and diversity of models were 'manageable, still expensive, but now it entered the 'business', money rules the world, putting 'life in general' at an unbelievable strain. Few know and showing it now, all people can say. Sell it as it is too much, enjoy the money, not working one day till you die, imagine. Is there a therapy for old collectors? Still like your collection, video, thanks!

This many collectors items are good for businesses as well, it can be traded as collectors, sellers, and as items that does not depreciate, as they are in equitative values. Good form of investment to back up idle assets transformed into museums and insured, the way collectors, philatelists association realizes the impeccable, irresistable taste for quality, luxurious and the affordable for many generations. Dated certainties.GDP up all indicators down. Worldwide, Gold bar, silver, bitcoin. Try some time, it is artistic and the realized no losses.

Nice collection.......I would like to see more diecast manufacturers focus on quality and detail, rather than cheaply made facsimiles without keeping the cost out of reach for children to get involved with collecting....

Steve Vroman' I agree. The worst thing that ever happened to the Matchbox Series was when Lesney sold the series to Mattel. A majority of the detailed scale models offered by Lesney disappeared and the few that survived had morphed into uninteresting pieces with those horrible Hot Wheels mag wheels.
@teebodk3917
@teebodk3917 5 жыл бұрын
@@williamcharles9480 This didn't just happen to Matchbox, but model cars as a whole. The 1960s was full of extremely detailed model cars and a race between makers to come up with ever more "working features" like steering, suspension, opening doors, bonnets, boots, sliding seats and so on. Jeweled lights, fine decals and chrome trim were among the other features. All that changed when the flashy "bling" design of Mattel became popular. Within a very short time, all the big brands followed suit and started churning out futuristic fantasy cars plastered with flame stickers and ridiculously oversized tower-engines... and of course: fast wheels, which meant hard plastic one-piece wheels instead of the old metal wheels with rubber tires. The thing is: these primitive models only cost a fraction of the development and production costs for the previous detailed ones, and the kids loved the bling and kapow-effect. Add to that, that workers often went on strike and that the financial climate was getting ever more harsh and you had a "perfect storm" for the downfall of detailed model cars (or toy cars, as they were called back then) On existing models, the opening features would get deleted - no more license plate stickers, no more jewel lights, no more chrome, no more painted details - there are many examples of models from (in particular) Corgi and Dinky, that got the "dumb down" treatment in order to lower the costs and stay competitive. Also, the new full-size car models would no longer become available as scale models, because the makers prefered (or could only afford) to churn out fantasy creations. This is also the reason why 1970s and eraly 1980s cars are really hard to come by in any reasonable quality. Some have been made in recent years, but there's still a large, unfilled void. Thankfully, things have improved and most car makes are now once again available in good quality (even the partwork series can be pretty nice) and in matching scales. There are a few exceptions, mainly for brands like Kia, Hyundai, Daewoo (they do exist, but mostly with pullback engines and in obscure scales) and also japanese cars made for export markets. Greetings from a collector of roughly 2500 models, ranging from 1/87 to 1/8, and vintage (early 1950s) to 2019.
@williamcharles9480
@williamcharles9480 5 жыл бұрын
@@teebodk3917 As you said the "Dumb Down" treatment reflects the mentality of those who demand such products. Here we had relatively intelligent children being attracted to the perfection of scale model replication replaced by simple minds wanting to play with toys that were grotesquely untrue to scale and simply rolled fast. Truly sad and a reflection of the generation of adults that followed. Mattel buying out Matchbox was also a sickening disaster.
