It's Fast Friday so today we're sharing a little about the process of building a Slate Performance "Fast and the Furious" Eclipse Replica! The majority of this video details one of our more recent builds that we completed for a customer here in the midwest. This car specifically started as an exterior only build. At the end of the video we showcase some of our interior & engine bay options. When it comes to building a "Fast and Furious" Eclipse we've streamlined the process to allow our customers to pick and choose options available all while being able to maintain the essence of the original car. A lot of replica builders want to make the car an exact replica which can take several years to track down some of the parts. Technically, most of our cars are what we call "Tribute Replicas" because in many cases they are not "exactly identical" to the hero car. Die hard fans may have an issue with this but most car enthusiasts prefer to have a little more power under the hood, usable creature comforts, a good audio system, and a car that is uniquely their own. We achieve the unique factor by allowing customers to choose certain things such as performance upgrades, wheels, suspension, seats, etc. One of our most unique requests recently has been reupholstering the oem rear seats to match the customer's choice of Sparco racing seats up front with matching Sparco harnesses (see 3:58 mark of the video). The movie car was powered by a 140hp engine and front wheel drive. Most of our cars are all wheel drive, manual, turbocharged 4G63 engines with tasteful modifications making them fun to drive. Some of the build process that sets our cars apart from others is the fact that our cars receive a full restoration. We remove all of the windows and take the cars down to the steel body construction to start with a fresh foundation for body work and paint. We don't only address paint and body. Our cars are equipped with new coilover suspension, required steering components, brakes, tires, belts, hoses, etc. We address all of the maintenance issues so our customers receive a car that they're not only incredibly excited to look at and show off but also a car they know they can hop in and drive without issues!
