For people who think that the numbers on the display is the speed WRONG it is the rev counter it tell the driver when to change gear ..... Hope this helps.

+Patrick Enrique Bührmann that is why it is bolloxs its like a car. he is sitting back behind a COMPLETE screen with total surround. I have been 210mph on a zzr14 and it is REAL scary. looking via a tiny visa and screen lift my head and drag takes you offa the back.

Are you not intelligent enough to understand that a world record is based on a definition of a word and that to win this kind of record these days you need to bring the concept to its very limits and that this will lead to an unusual appearance ? I mean its obvious to me ! Its an extremely powerful, internal combustion 2 wheel vehicle with a big shell around it to reduce drag and make down force. Do you also believe an F1 car isn't a car too ? What is it then ? Are you 12 ? I really hope so.

i bet the g forces of the crash would kill him in this small short light thing just having an intact roll rage doesn't mean survival the spin can kill you easily and 376 mph is far faster than 300 kph this guy made it past 600 kph

KoivuTheHab you really think all its going to do is slide check out the video of the guys who crashed at about 200 on the salt flats only he was able to push himself off his bike which proceed to go spinning and disintegrate and yes 376 mph was his average which is over 600 kph

Streamline motorcycles have been around for a lot time now. These types of motorcycles and cars are not uncommon on the salt flats of El Mirage Dry Lake in California, US; or Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, US.

That's the tachometer, he drives it all the way to 10,000rpm then the red lights iluminate to tell him to change gear. It has 6 gears but for the record run only 4 were working… watch the documentary it's a fascinating story!

Scott Bryant And why is that? All it needs to do is prevent burns from the friction (road rash). He isn't going to run into anything. That deceleration would be the most dangerous thing he can encounter, and it's not possible where he is at. If he were to fall off, he was just slide until he stopped. Your comment is silly.

I understand what you are saying. However, deceleration can occur when his tire hits even the slightest bump, he loses control and the bike starts to flip, crashing into the ground. Just because its on a "flat" surface doesn't necessarily means winds couldn't have eroded some of the sand. The same could be said if the front tire rapidly loses air pressure, such as if it bursts from hitting the smallest stationary object at over 200mph.

kermit150261 yeah but in real life to make time slow down for you you'd have to be going 99.9999% of light speed. And then 100 hundred years would go by in 2 weeks for you. Hehe pretty cool :D but you can't go back in time :(

Josh Marsden Interestingly, time dilation actually occurs at much lower speeds as well. For example, in 6 months time aboard the space station, astronauts age 0.007 seconds less than those still on earth. Even walking down the street, there is a time difference compared with someone standing still. Time is different for everybody and everything...quite amazing.
