The wonderful thing about this hobby is that you can buy cars to run, to have them in the showcase, to play with your children or to take them apart and improve them as much as you can.

People always ask me about that on my track, "What's your fastest car?" and the truth is, the car that is the fastest car is terrible to drive for newbies as it has just way too much power. I just have a home track, so I spend way more time trying to get my cars performance aligned, so that races can be even. I buy the cars I like, but I stay away from some brands/cars that I think will drive terribly. I don't mind cars not being a rocket, and needing some tuning, but I hate spending a ton of time on a car for it still not to be even decent, or fall off the track every single lap. I bought a few Fly cars and have since sold them due to this.

Well said lesson that I have just recently learned the expensive way. Dave had you done this video 4 months ago you could have saved me buying every performance car and upgrade on the globe. More money then brains in my case, but I do learn, eventually. Thx

That's The way I've always done it, i buy what I like and I enjoy racing it, it's fun to do.

I think what is the fastest car can’t be logically answered. They’re several factors, 1. The track layout, 2. The driver and the drivers skills, 3. The hand controller, 4. How is the car tuned and tuned correctly to the track. Each race track has characteristics that needs different race car set up. Watching some KZfaq videos from experienced slot car drivers and tuners. Also your comments (Dave Kennedy) are also correct points. Thanks for the video.

There’s always been sentiment to the cars I buy. Mostly as a Motorsport enthusiast. Especially being exclusively Carrera digital. So many IMSA cars past and present. Finally getting into tire tuning and no mag, and I’m still only at 60% speed limit on a 56 foot circuit

I like all my cars my cars to drive well (i.e., their own best lap times) , and that's part of the fun - getting the most you can out of a particular set-up.

You are right and the faster car on a wood track can be the slowest on a plastic track and would you be able to handle the car ... It also depend on how you tune the car any car can be faster but not any driver can make it win ... So yes get the car you like and improve it with time...

Half the fun and getting the car out of the box and tuning it up. And when you think that the car is no longer able to make a better time .. look better before buying upgrades because you can probably still find a few hundredths of a second :-)

From my perspective the cars simply need to be smooth handling cars and only just fast enough to where you must slow down when going around a curve.

I’m new to the hobby first off but I think when some one asks that question they don’t know how or if the cars are very different so they are asking about a car that is the fastest. furthermore winning is fun I’ll like the car if I can win with it. Not many cars are ugly in my opinion I just want a good car. when you are new at something you ask basic questions. Like going out to eat and asking what’s good. Idk I don’t think it’s fair to look down on someone asking that.

When I was running Slingshots for more than a year, that was the number one question. And we heard it from nearly every customer that walked thru the door. 1. What’s the fastest car out there? 2. What’s the fastest car in the case? 3. What can I do to make my car faster? And now was our chance to engage him/her/them into the hobby.

If a car catches your eye bu is just nasty driving...well maybe not..unless you enjoy tuning to get a decent runner...mot any car can be a runner...maybe not fast..
