I miss the 90's! It was a great time to be alive, I was young, gas was $.99 a gallon, there wasn't any ricers, and everybody didn't have they're heads up they're asses, and cars didn't have stupid touch screens in the dash and the top 40 didn't lick balls!

90’s music licked hairy balls.

Unfortunately, the ricers today drive straight piped chargers, challengers and mustangs. Og ricers at least weren't that fast overall, just obnoxious with their fart can mufflers. Now you have a new or older generation of obnoxious reckless drivers, but in 400-700hp cars.

I clearly remember hurrying down to our public library after school at the beginning of every month just to be the 1st one to read the newest issue of Hot Rod. I graduated high school in '93 and still remember pouring over this event, day dreaming about what it would be like to see those cars run. Really made my Christmas seeing this footage. A total time capsule back to better days

Cool. Had these videos on VHS. Ha. Those were the days when major grear heads built their own rides/ blocks with buddies.. Love watching these racing at the local drag strip. Got into muscle car as a kid back in the 70s. My older brother took me to one.. and I was hooked 😊 to this day. Funny.. Still have the VHS player in the garage. Ha.

In 1992, I found it very extreme to read that in hot rod magazine and to see the pictures. In Germany !!! America was far away ! Very far away ! Now 2021 to see the video here Is a goosebumps feeling first class ! What is probably become of all 30 years later! I know that some are deceased! By the hot rod mag. That was the first generation of street racing ! Long before murder nova and big chief and co !!!!

I still have the VHS but no way to play the movie. I bought it off the rack when my younger brother was working at Champion Auto Stores in '92, it looked pretty cool, I just didn't know it would be with me this long.

Crazy to think the cars built in 1967 were only 25 years old

You know, when I see the word "street car," it brings to mind the trolleys in San Francisco. I definitely don't want to see them race.

I had intentions of making this event. I had a 10.60 index 68 Chevelle that I added a 300hp N2O fogger to my 427 based 496. I was in the 8.90s at Carlsbad Raceway that summer. Had the car at RJ’s Race cars to update the cage. But I was still in the Navy and our deployment got moved up two months. I still regret missing it.

And then came Swedes,Norsemen,Danish Vikings and a pesky Finn with record tiny budget invested in a totally nonsensical platform:a B-1 mopar in a Swinger!The fact remains that Scandinavians led by Swedish charge totally dominated the first World street cup in Orlando. Had it been that elderly Björn Cronqwist not sleeping in start,Swedes would ve won every class in that World Cup!American car culture in Sweden is something crazy,just look at recent Sick week held in Florida where fastest class was dominated by Swedes.Even here in Finland where I live ,we have and have had,a vibrant American car culture since mid 70 s.I bought a 1964 Malibu SS with 396 bbc and 4 speed back in 1992 and was addicted by street racing immediately.Malibu ran mid nines with 538 blown bbc(4.625 bore,4.00 stroke) whilst being street driven.Just pure enjoyment cruising in a blown big block Malibu setting off car alarms as you thundered by.

My how the times have changed!!! You can roll up to a stop light anywhere in America these days and have an 8 second quarter mile car setting beside you and never know it....

Legendary cars on a legendary track. Too bad memphis international raceway is no longer there.

It made me so mad when they shut that track down. I had just got into cars at that time and the track was the closest to my home.

If they were street cars why did they all arrive at the track on trailers? Did I miss something?
@KingJT807 ай бұрын
Trust me I was around then as a kid and the cars were well known to cruise on the streets. It isn't like today's 8 second cars

The narrator used the entire dictionary on this video. Boy, the ET's street cars can run has sure changed- just look at the guys that run Drag Week.
