I made this video for one of my favourite songs, using still photos. 54 of the pictures are mine, 26 (most of which are used in the quick montage near the end) are not.
The zooming can sometimes be jagged if your connection isn't great.
Thanks for the compliments, everyone!
I CLAIM NO OWNERSHIP OF THIS MUSIC.
lyrics:
This is our "Music from A Bachelor's Den"
The sound of loneliness turned up to ten
A horror soundtrack from a stagnant water-bed
And it sounds just like this.
This is the sound of someone losing the plot
Making out that they're okay when they're not
You're gonna like it
But not a lot
And the chorus goes like this:
Oh baby
Here comes the fear again
The end is near again
A monkey's built a house on your back
You can't get anyone to come in the sack
And here comes another panic attack
Oh here we go again
So now you know the words to our song
Pretty soon you'll all be singing along
When you're sad, when you're lonely
And it all turns out wrong
When you've got the fear
And when you're no longer searching
For beauty or love
Just some kind of life
With the edges taken off
When you can't even define what it is that you're frightened of
This song will be here
Oh baby
Here comes the fear gain
The end is near again
If you ever get that chimp off your back
If you ever find the thing that you lack
But you know you're only having a laugh
And here we go again
Until the end
Here is a chronological breakdown of which photos are mine, and which are not:
me:
railway signal
spiky fence
tricycle
wheelchair/stairs
poster of face with open mouth
city buildings and sculpture
stacked styrofoam boxes
statue of man about to leap
skewed sunset
loudspeakers
asphalt road
black door in brick wall
scary tree
cement enclosure
amusement park ride
dark, humid tunnel
statue of angel and mailman
sun and clouds
rusty UNION
skewed old buildings
bridge
foreboding pole
giant pilons
under pilon
water tower
side of brick building with vents
blurred figures
fence with out of focus background
blackened cement
foggy road
electric poles on hill
old wooden sign
rocks and poles in water
rusty 529
shadow on cement building
top of tank with ladder
close-up low angle of brick building
shell of abandoned building
rusty metal stairs
ProGreen crane
time-worn building wall
clean sink
abandoned equipment
structure against clouds
boarded-up train windows
b&w building
branches and fence
dirty water and bridge
streetlight against clouds
snowy cityscape
metal bolted T
electrical wires and trees
metal cables
radio tower at sunset
not me:
rusty sinkhole
filthy toilet
rusty gear
broken mirror shards
lake with weeds
dusty dead fish
tornado
swamp
mangrove swamp
hamburger
another swamp
rusty stain
rotten tomatoes

I can't think of any other song that so perfectly sums up anxiety and depression "when you're no longer searching for beauty or love, just some kind of life with the edges taken off" - perfection. This song has provided the soundtrack to many a drunken lonely night for me too. I think it may actually be Pulp's finest moment.

This song is the story of my life for the last 12 years. Cockers lyrics are incredible, the music is mesmerising ( as are all Pulp songs ) and so, so true. I have listened to this drunk and sober. Its even better when you are drunk ! LOL. I could write a book about this song and how it saved me on many nights. " The sound of loneliness turned up to 10 " - superb, says it all when uve been there. UNTIL THE END !!!!!!!!!! Paul. Ireland.

This truly is a perfect song. It may be my favourite Pulp song. They have made many fantastic songs over the years but this one really speaks to me. The music is amazing and Jarvis Cocker is my favourite front man of any band over the past 20 years.

Well, I bought Different Class when it came out, and thought it was my favourite Pulp album, 'till I heard This is Hardcore, it's much more strong as a whole imho... I know it's not a conceptual album, but songs are kind of connected with that "dark" sound they had those days. It's something special... the deluxe version is tremendous!

The line "when you can't even define what it is you're frightened of" stuck in my head. That's how I feel now, lying in bed, door closed, I don't want to leave the room, but there's anything to be afraid of. Idk, it's not rational, I can't move, I know it'll go away eventually, but what the hell is it?
@clauditorium

Anxiety can make a person freeze up. It's not always about something specific. You might want to speak with a therapist about it.
@kb-zealot
@kb-zealot 3 жыл бұрын
@@clauditoriumYeah, freezing up. I think this is the kind of problem that's easier to ignore/wait-out than to try and fix though. It's unpleasant but contained. And I really don't want to talk to a therapist
@clauditorium
@clauditorium 3 жыл бұрын
@@kb-zealot If the problem ever becomes less tolerable, you might want to consider it; I've found therapy to be helpful. But there are also medications that help keep anxiety at bay. Some people who suffer from it learn breathing exercises that help.
