2 жыл бұрынRockstar Games announced the shutdown awhile back, December 16th would be the final day for GTA Online on PS3 and Xbox 360. Considering we won't be able to check the official servers in 2022, let's pop in one last time and check out the state of the game. How many players are on? Is the game stable? Connection issues? You know the drill, let's play some Grand Theft Auto V. It's only fitting considering we'll be living with this game for the next 2 decades anyway, right? (Please say sike).

Because of this game and the Online aspect of it, i almost failed my 1st year of High school. I've spent well over 400 hours (more like triple this) from October 2013 till May 2014. I was fully into easter eggs, glitches, leaks, tips and tricks, fastest cars everything online related i was fully invested to it, i would even say addicted. And because all of this, this game will always be in my top 3 games of all times, especially PS3 Version. Truly devastated that they are shutting PS3 and X360 servers down even tho they have the money to keep them up for many years. But every nice thing must come to an end so to this version of the game, i will say thank you for so many memories i will never forget.

Considering that most PS3 titles no longer supporting online servers, except exceptions like CoD and Battlefield, I'd say Rockstar keeping a last generation version of the experience online for 8 years is pretty generous of them, alongside 8th gen and soon to be 9th gen online support.

@@vicrattlehead5051 I think they're all under Rockstar, and their studios. Heard that the PC version of GTA IV no longer has multiplayer sadly, since they changed it to a GTA IV: Complete Edition without the multiplayer.

Well I'm fine with them taking it down. Modders took it over. It's just a challenge trying not to have Modders get me to Level 8000. Man on the PS3 though if you're Lvl 8000 it's not anything wow. But on PC I don't know much but they do say some shit about it.

You can still do those today. Just Different vehicles and less Connectivity Issues. The last 2 days I stood up until 2 AM just doing Heists. Gotta love that Cayo Perico.

Well now there rereleasing it for a 3rd time on series x and ps5 gotta convert players over some how just like GTA trilogy rockstars best way is forcing it on us get rid of the old version and make the new our only option in my personal opinion this game should have died on PS3 and 360 and be remembered as the gem it was and not the cash cow it is now I hope most do not support this and let this game end as the top dog it was and not what it is becoming so it can die with dignity and not ridicule

@@SlavicUnionGaming dont play on PC but even if I did I still wouldnt upgrade even on PS4 I would still stick to ps4 barely touch online anymore so even if they took down servers it wouldnt effect me not 1 bit 🤷 I got nothing against story mode my complaint is how much they push online to make money and it has become so blatant and greedy now its sick

If you have played gta 4 on pc then you may remember r* closed the online servers of gta 4 on pc by march 2020... later modders made custom servers for the pc users of gta 4 I hv played gta 5 both on consoles and pc including ps3 and ps4 so yeah we may get some custom servers for gta 5 as well

gta iv mp is client-based similar to old cods like mw2... you know in mw2 when someone rage quit you'd get the disconnect error? that's because the host left the game and it is transferring to another person. GTAIV is almost exactly the same. GTAV is server based meaning the developer has to maintain servers for online to work. since GTAIV doesnt have servers naturally its online will last longer

@@peytonwakham22 The game has a master server to know who is online and for matchmaking. That is indeed very cheap to run, servers like GTA V cost a lot of money.

Isnt that boring tho? You got 65mill from a modder, you beat the game basically. You'll end up buying everything, nothing seems like a grind or challenge anymore. I prefer to play legit, it gives you something to actually play the game for

While I haven’t played GTA Online much when this first launched, it is still unfortunate that it has to be shut down on those consoles. Especially when on PS3 at least, it’s the only way for players to play that online without a need for a membership. Of course the PC version is free of this but man does this make me wish that both consoles’ successors and THEIR successors move away from locking Online multiplayer behind such paywalls.

I’m amazed at how this game looks and plays so well on 15 year old hardware and yet CDPR struggled so much with trying to get Cyberpunk to simply function on 8 year old hardware.

By the time GTA V released on PS3/X360 the hardware was 8 years old. Not 15. Yes, it still looks good and plays nicely but map loads slow online, it freezes during loading screens sometimes... It was pushed to it limits and works well. And Cyberpunk was released on 7 Year old hardware, not 8. PS4, XOne came in 2013 not 2012.

I remember goin to get this on launch day for PS3 with my Dad. We got the last PS3 copy lol. Had tons of fun with it and I grinded the hell out of it. I was level 343 by the time the PS4 version came out. I didn’t transfer my character to PS4, I just made a new one and after 7 years I’m still only at level 124 cos I never found the PS4 version as fun so I didn’t really grind it until about a year ago

I love collectin trophies and I got the platinum for PS3 gta 5 and if I transferred my character then all the online trophies would unlock straight away for the PS4 version when I played it for the first time so I wanted to earn every trophy again cos I had a lot of fun collecting them the first time. It was fun doin it all again but not as fun as the first time

I remember there was a money glitch that got me everything in the game, including cars you could only find in the story mode. It eventually got boring and I haven’t gone back online since 2014.

I remember pre-ordering GTA5 and being mind blown by the peoples waiting and the line outside. I live in Quebec, Canada, and this kind of thing is not as common as it is in the US, which just goes to show how excited people were about GTA5!

I spent countless hours on the PS3 version of GTA 5. It was the last game where I actually had a crew of friends, friend’s relatives etc all banding together to play a game. I would stay up well into the morning, only managing a couple of hours of sleep before high school and everything for a long time 😂 I know the frustration and resentment is building towards Rockstar for milking the game for all it’s worth and I’m basically with that state of mind currently but regardless it’s genuinely one of the greatest games of all time. So many memories ❤️ I also actually wagged school entirely with a friend the day of release and we sat in a McDonalds almost all day just full of excitement until it was time to rush home haha

If GTA 6 ever does come it will probably be no sooner than 2025 or 2026. I’d see Rockstar announcing in 2024 that it’s in development. Long time away tho, so people need to chill with getting their hopes up.

I played this game for the very first day until the very last day on PS3, full of amazing memories, literally the game that I have played most. Not sure if it's my favorite GTA ever (maybe GTA IV is my favorite), but this is definitely my favorite online R* game, I just love heists so much lol. Rest in Peace GTAO PS3, i'm glad I finished all the 100% trophy list for it like 2 months ago.

I was trying to get the platinum trophy but couldn't get people to play with me for the crew cut and back seat driver trophies and rockstar disabled bounties on PS3/360 so I couldn't get the run like the wind trophy, those were the last three I needed for the platinum (I 100%ed the heists update in September and got the last single player trophy at the end of November), the PS3 I was playing on died a day before the shutdown too but maybe the people that are getting ps3 games back online could get gta online working again and I can get the platinum, I got the game in August 2017 but didn't play online and I should have done that first before finishing story mode.

I went into Game and the woman working there said no one can get onto it because so many people are trying to get on GTA Online and the severs couldn’t handle it and to see it in this state now and being shutdown is mind boggling to me lol

I played it on ps3 on and off the past few months including the last week. I won't miss the modders and griefers though it was a mess in public lobbies as bad as pc in some ways. They definitely could have kept this going though I doubt the resources to so where that extensive. The thing I'll miss is the original mission timeline and cutscenes that existed on these generation consoles. They broke a lot of that on ps4 and pc with all the updates and dlc

I missed playing on closing day. Last gen shutting down makes me sad. I had almost 600 hours and a ton of memories on last gen GTA. Can't really say the same for 8th or even 9th gen consoles.

I know you had loads of memories of GTA online on 7th gen but I would say that the 8th gen GTA online is better than the 7th gen version. One reason is that there is obviously more content and there is more ways of making money and the game looks and runs much better and there are loads of stuff you can do with the game and different types of creativity you can achieve with the better hardware and more power.

I really wish I got to do this on my channel. I did two videos a couple months ago where I revisited GTA online on PS3 and then I wanted to do it one last time on the final week, but my PlayStation 3 gave me the red light of death lol but I bought it from a pawnshop just so that I can do those PS3 videos lol so I guess I have to go buy another one now. I miss this Online version so much already I didn't get to play the day before it was shutdown because I had other things in the way and I didn't get to experience the Online mode one last time so I'm pretty sad at the moment i hope this game gets reverse engineered some day since there's ps3 games that already have been reverse engineered

rockstar should've respect us ps3 players and im one of them who is even till now still playing on ps3 and gta5 was one of the most played games online on ps3 we all had fun even when theres a hacker , its sad that they turned of the server and i miss it so much us poor gamers cant just afford a ps4/5 and buy ps plus etc.

if you sold your ps3 and saved your money you could get a ps4 from marketplace, ebay, or craigslist for $100 or under. ever since the ps5 came out the ps4 has gotten cheap on 3rd party markets. i’m poor too and still save money to buy things i want. don’t make excuses. those servers cost money to keep up, so if the ps3 servers weren’t making as much money they eventually have to go. same will happen to ps4 then ps5. these corporations are in it for the money, they don’t give a shit about a kid being happy. i know it sucks bro but you just gotta keep stacking whatever little money you can get until you reach your goal. not everyone can be rich, but if you aren’t it’s really an advantage. you’ll have more hustle than any of your peers who had it easy in life. use your disadvantage as an advantage. don’t complain

So many memories gta on ps3 got it and nfs rivals for Christmas 2013 took me about a year to beat story mode because I was in college and could only play on weekends and holiday breaks then I started playing online when heists came out in early 2015 ended up getting addicted to it which resulted in taking 3.5 years to get a 2 year college degree one of the first games I bought for ps4 along with an nfs game in 2016 when the ps4 slim came out still addicted to it to this day sad to see the og online version come to an end that was the last game I own for ps3 that had online function oh well guess can jailbreak my ps3 now since I no longer have a use for online access

Me and my brother have so many memories with this game, specially the PS3 version, since we got it from our Christmas, I could write about it here but it would make me cry, so all I have to say is: R.I.P. GTA Online for PS3 and Xbox 360 One, if not my favorite generation of a game.

This hits me hard because i started playing this game on the PS3 way back in 2013 up to 2015 then i upgraded to the PS4 after Rockstar ended the updates for that generation of the game.

One time, I decided to go back to GTA Online on the PS3 just for fun. It wasn't even 30 minutes in before I made a modder mad. He spawned the entire lobby to the desert airport, bent me over the hood of a car and violated me in front of everyone. It was so funny but so humiliating at the same time. LMAO !!!

I personally won't miss GTA Online. I dropped it a couple of months after heists first came out. I will always remember it as an unbalanced, slow, buggy piece of shit. I won't miss one person terrorizing an entire lobby of new people with a tank they bought with mommy's credit card. I won't miss lobbies never filling all the way due to the worst matchmaking system in gaming history (did they ever fix this?). I won't miss randoms jumping into a heist, fucking it up and leaving and constantly pulling my hair out trying to get the right combination of people who had enough brain matter to not drool on their controller finish them. I won't miss some dude coming the other side of the map, shooting me, and running and quitting before I got my revenge. I remember being stressed out and angry more than having fun overall. However, to everyone who still plays Ps3 GTA Online, my condolences. I'm always sad to see online servers shut down, regardless of what they are. I was a big fan of MAG, and now you know how I felt back on January 28th, 2014. At least you still have the single-player. MAG is a $60 frisbee now.

I personally would add the fact theres nothing worse than a modder fuck up my account by leveling my characters when i didnt ask for or just because they dont like you,lets have a stupid hat and flying for no reason,how about blowing the fuck up outta nothing ?Fun times............ i had to quit..But i saw the birth of this game back in 2013 and was a hell of a blast!!I still hold pics from that year in Rockstar site,the fun was actually unmatched,but.... f them!

Its kinda crazy because before the PS4 version launched, i had about the same feelings as you. I dont know what clicked with me afterwards but i kinda started to embrace the madness and i started to enjoy the game. Used to grind with friends with every major content update that dropped, had some epic standoffs with randoms in free roam and i spent hours making maps for me and my friends to partake in. Dont get me wrong though, the game is cancer asf. People will always find a way to be a free roam warrior and ruin the fun for everyone and the new content, such as the infamous Oppressor MK2 is making griefers have a grand ol' time. I've been over GTAO for abit now, but I will say that I had allot of good times on it.

Wow, you have some real problem with glitches and connection here. I did the heists quite recently and the only glitch was the one where you can't finish the prison heist. I completely agree that the loading for this is really horrendous though.

i remember the first week of gta online when everything was freaking out and servers would fuck around every few minutes. must've been 9 or 10 back then, now i'm 18 and still playing the pc version . i remember my friend and i got super excited one day when we finally got to rank 32 and the titan started spawning, used to stay up late and roleplay around fort zancudo acting like private militia... i will forever cherish this game

I heard that GTA servers for PS3 are dedicated servers (which costs the company money) while GTA 4 is peer to peer (doesnt cost the company nothing)

partially true; gta 5 online lobbies have always been peer to peer on all platforms, i think the costly upkeep is on databases storing player stats and they've just taken that offline.

Played it a lot in the last few erros just to get the last two online trophies for the base game and the platinum trophy. Its a shame that Rockstar made the decision to close down the servers, i found lots of full sessions still going strong until the last few days i had played it (around december 10th). Its sad because this was the last big game for the PS3 and so many people were still playing it

I remember this last day. I first started GTA 5 on PS3, and then to PS4, and now to PS5. Crazy how that works. So many memories on PS3 like grinding Rooftop Rumble thousands of times so I could get things like the Adder, Entity, Zentorno, Cheetah etc and all of their upgrades. Then grinding heists with friends after school. And even becoming great friends with modders. Great times

Those heists in GTA Online are so much fun. We made videos thru video captures on Xbox One and I go back to them for a lot of laughs every now and then. I became close friends with three other Xbox One players and we talk every day. 👏👍🙂

Man wished I could've said my good byes to this for PS3 lol got distracted by the souls games and forgot it was being shutdown this month. Man the times I stayed home from school fake sick just to play this lol 🤣 one of the only games I got up at 7 AM to get. GTA will always be one of my favourite series. Even though Rockstar is being awfully quite about the sequel and made some weird decisions nowadays, I'll still be waiting for GTA 6 to be day one as well. RIP GTA 5 on PS3 . Your experience will never be forgotten
