As an English man I’ve always had a soft spot for Ajax I can’t pin point why I have feelings for a Dutch club but I think it’s because everything at the club is homegrown and it’s always produced great talented footballers , One of the most natural clubs on the planet and there is a recipe why they are so successful. When Man United began looking for a new manager he was my first choice by far. His achievements at Ajax speak for themselves but I look even further back to his time as an assistant at Twente when he was known as an incredibly meticulous and focused coach who would try to account for every detail, no matter how small. If he's given the power he needs at Man United, I've no doubt he'll succeed. That being said, I'm not sure he fully understands what it means to be Man United manager. Ajax is a massive club. Those stars on the Ajax badge aren't there for show. Ajax has a well earned European pedigree but the demands and the scrutiny are nothing compared to what he'll face at Man United, especially at a time when Liverpool, City and Chelsea are all dominant and Newcastle are set to rise thanks to the near unlimited funds they've been gifted. For Ajax fans who made read this and wonder just what is so different about the Man United job, I'll give you an example - in the history of English league football, only 3 managers have ever won the league at Man United. At most successful clubs, league wins are spread across multiple managers but at United, only 3 have ever done it and all three managers spent at least a decade at the club. The foundations of success at Man United, from Mangnall to Busby to Ferguson are firmly rooted in club building. Chasing quick fixes through big money buys has never worked in the history of the club. That's actually one of the things that makes me excited for Ten Hag because thanks to Ralf Rangnick's honesty, the whole world now knows that United are in need of not just squad building but club building and so Ten Hag has the opportunity, again if given the power to do so, to reforge United from the ground up. The United job is a poison chalice but for any manager who can get it right, it can be a career defining period.

As a fan of Feyenoord Rotterdam, this coach made me love to watch Ajax. It was great to see a Dutch club shining in the Champions league with young talented players. Before this coach nobody would say that Ajax could reach a semi-final of the Champions League again. Financial their was/is a big gap with the big clubs in Europe. So nobody was thinking of Ajax too battle them and win those games. Thanks too Edwin van de Sar, Marc Overmars and Eric ten Hag for making Dutch clubfootball matter again.
