@@lorib9820 It still can. The MLB has precedents for reversing infield decisions like the George Brett Pine Tar Game or Haddix retroactive no-hitter. This perfect game should count, I’m sure we can reverse that decision. It’s a matter of integrity for the sport and it’s biggest personnal achievement.

And aside from that ending, and as brutal of a career Humber had, the 1st 8 innings of his perfecto were anything but. The first 3 ball count he had all day was when he started 3-0 on the leadoff man in the 9th, who he came back to strike out. The 2nd 3-ball count was on the final batter. And he didn't need any spectacular plays to save him. Every out was a strikeout or an easy play for the defense.

Yusmeiro Petit of the 2013 Giants has to have the least-remembered almost Perfect Game of all time. He came one strike away, and the hit that broke it up fell a foot short of Pence’s dive in right field. I was at that game and it was brutal 😂

What's crazy is there was nearly an 11 year gap between the last 2 perfect games and 3 between May 9 2010 and Armando Galarraga's game on June 2, 2010.

Pretty wild that there were 6 of them in a 3 year period and then a near 11 year gap.

All credit to the pitchers, but perfect games are truly team achievements. Not only does the pitcher have to be perfect, but the defense behind him can't let him down by committing an error or otherwise botching a routine play. And often times there's at least one spectacular defensive play that saves the perfecto.

I ain't going to lie the call of the first perfect game is underwhelming. Like thats a level of a no hitter game call with excitement but this is a *perfect* game.

Factoid: No one has ever thrown 2 perfect games - but Mark Buehrle 3 times faced the minimum 27 batters for the win. (1) Perfect game. (2) No Hitter with 1 walk...next batter double play. (3) One Hitter, no walks, picked him off.

1:25-And Don Larsen and Yogi Berra were both on hand for Cone's gem, the first game Larsen watched since his playing days, and the first time Berra set foot at Yankee Stadium since George Steinbrenner fired him as Yankees manager in 1985.
