The strange removal of Donut is weird, that Simmons throw fits Donut much more cause it started with him killing Tex with his first throw and its more fitting that the final throw is the throw that helps save Tex
@lukefitton73292 ай бұрын
True but it’s kind of cool considering what Simmons said in Seasons 11 & 12. “I can’t! Sarge says I throw like a girl!!” “Why do I have to play in the women’s league?” “I don’t work well under pressure!” He stepped up to the plate, and it’s about time they gave my boi Simmons a heroic moment.

I think the absolute peak of the writing was season 10. Specifically the ending. The reveal that the director did everything he did over his obsession with his dead wife, I still get all misty eyed thinking about him sitting in that room, watching the footage of Alison on repeat.

I think I know why the Reds didn’t want to help Caboose. They’ve gone on tons of crazy adventures that should’ve killed them, but didn’t. Seeing Doc (someone who’s been there from almost the beginning) probably made them realize just how lucky they’ve been all this time, and actually losing someone scared them. They probably didn’t want to die like Doc.

I agree with the complaints about some of the main characters being missing, like Donut, but I think I kinda get why though. This season was originally meant to be longer but when Rooster Teeth shut down a lot of complications arose. So what was meant to be a full season ended up getting cut down to an hour and a half film as a result, which meant a good bit of content and storylines had to be dropped. If they had their original full episodes to tell the story, I'm sure they probably would have gone into more details on some things, but it's understandable that they chose to focus on the main parts of their story so that we could get an ending at all, and on that I think we managed to get a satisfying ending, all things considered.

I wish you touched on Tex and Church's final scene together. The idea that Tex finally went back and actually finished what she started all those years ago on the Mother of Invention is something I really loved. There are very few moments where Tex shows genuine love toward Church, and I was not expecting it this time around. The fact she used both her real name and the married version is something so touching to me, especially when it's shown she told Caboose what to do with them. It's also kind of touching how, in a way, this was her final way to protect her daughter. Church wasn't lying when he told her that she would've given up anything to save her.

Despite this I feel like I’ve had the show around me my whole life. I enjoyed it so much I was a huge fan. I laughed, I cried, even the seasons that weren’t very strong I enjoyed immensely. This final season is no different. I have my issues with it, about the same as you Mike, but the thing is this finale felt like it had heart and that’s what made it feel good to me. Even if a joke didn’t land, even if I wish they did some things one last time or involve the others, I can tell this was made with heart and soul and love and that’s what it really needed here. I’m sad it’s done, but I’m happy I found this show when I did so I could enjoy these last moments with everyone else.

I stopped at season 13 and watched it more than 10 times front to back over the years. It's not that I wasn't interested in 14 and up, it's just the move to RWBY GEN LOCK and everything with what rooster teeth was doing was way more interesting than what RvB was trying to do at the time.
@Screamingmaddog2 ай бұрын
I have heard that Burnie didn't have really much of a budget for the final season so that might be the reason as to why they didn't have Donut show up at the end as well as why they didn't have a lot of the cast return as well. Not to mention with roosterteeth shutting down I imagen they might have been pressed for time.

RvB is one of those things that you can rewatch over and over, even when it's just background noise. I never expected to ever feel any big emotions over this show, but the final season really made me tear up. I'm sitting here right now after finishing this show for real for the first time and I can feel that feeling in my throat that you get right before the tears start flowing. I never could have guessed that this show, of all things, would get me so emotional but it's taking everything to not cry at my computer over the funny Halo machinima series. All I'm going to say is that if you're a sucker for romance, especially reuniting two characters so they can be with each other for their last moments, you're going to be like me.

As much as the final arc of RVB wasn’t the greatest it still had some really good moments things like the group promising to be there for Washington instead of leaving him when he was hospitalized, the banter between donut and wash, etc. It feels unfortunate that RT animation never became as big as it wanted to be because it seemed like a lot of the writers for RVB wanted to do more but we’re constrained due to outside influences. RVB was the the launch of so many careers and it’s really weird to think about how this small internet show developed into a huge entertainment company that’s influenced so many lived personally for me seeing Monty Oum work on this show and then work on RWBY is why I’m majoring in animation and I can’t think of what life would be like without this show

I kinda get the feeling Griff leaving was written in either last minute or from the start to give Geoff some closure of RT being shut down as far as the company has gone Geoff has been pretty much the corporate punching bag and had to deal with the eight of all of Rooster Teeth's problems, so to find out the company you started with a few friends is being liquidated by a group who only own it because of mergers and sales over your head must be heartbreaking, but having Griff, Geoff's not only character by true tie to Rooster Teeth finally go be it AWOL or relived of duty by Simons aka Gus one of if not the last remaining member of the OG Rooster Teeth member who hung on though Wave 2 and Wave 3 of hires it might allow some form of closure with the company compared to a suit from finances saying "you're not profitable anymore collect your things"

That's actually a really good idea bout Donut, it would help explain the reds' apparent backslide in their relationship with the blues. I think he was barely in this because they couldn't get Dan in for more than a cameo. My understanding is Dan always had an actual job and never worked for RT full time, so maybe he had other commitments. And yeah, the throwing bit really felt like it was a scene they wrote for Donut but had to repurpose because they couldn't get Dan in. I think I'm a little disappointed how little Tucker was in it as Tucker. He's had a hell of a lot of character development in later seasons, and I'd love to have seen him put up more of a fight against the new Meta, of all the main characters he'd have been best able to. One thing you didn't talk about that I think deserves mention though, they got Kathleen back to play Tex one last time! Honestly that was a big moment for me because I knew there was bad blood between her and RT, so seeing them working together again gives me hope that they can patch up their real life friendship if they can work together on one more project. I do have to respectfully disagree regarding Simmons though. He has had his own growth over the years, he's been a leader, and my read on him was always that he could be a competent soldier if he could just get over his self-confidence problems. I loved that he stood his ground, not for the hollywood drama of it, but just to see this character who we'd expect to run away staring down the guy who he's sure is going to kill him was just awesome. Was it perfect? No, far from it, it was obviously made on a shoestring with whatever resources they could work with instead of what they may have actually wanted (No Dan being the most obvious sign of this), but was it a good send-off? Absolutely!

And during the later end of high school and into 2020 and 2021 I looked back at RvB, watched through it again getting nostalgic until I hit the Halo 4 era and was just not feeling it luckily the shisno and Halo 5 series was locked so I didn't see it.

I was introduced to RvB by my big brother back at the end of primary school before going to highschool, those were hilarious times and i kept up with it ever since and ju ped on the band wagon for RWBY. I loved the characters, comedy, action and emotional storytelling that it honestly outshines Halo and understood the message of moving on, changing and healing from pain, something that Halo fails to see or acknowledge the state itself it's in with the tired escalation of stakes with universe is in danger plotline repeatedly with no gap inbetween for down time and for the characters to just rest and have peace and quiet and an unnatural forced reset to square 1 and status quo reinforcement to the detrement and regression of John Master Chief. But thankfuly, RvB got it's ending, not perfect, but it understands that things need to end and move on, thanks RT
@TacBansАй бұрын
After watching the final season just now, I really share your sentiment. It's not perfect, and in some ways, the previous seasons' endings work better, but it's just glad to know that it's over, and this is how one story ends. I wasn't around to see the series at its height, I'm only a few months older than Halo 2, for gods sake. But after a very boring summer a few years ago, it entertained me enough to keep me around for its last bits. I will likely see its aftermath and effects on all mediums for many, many years. Hell, I'm keeping up with CRASH as well. But, just seeing it get closure is well enough. It's had its impact on the world, it can rest now. Those who were impacted by it will move on, but not forget it. Just like Wash.

Also, simmons arm seems to be a robotic one from when he was made a cyborg early in the show, which means its not that his arm is hurt and he could have worked through the pain, but that the hinge was fully broken/out of commision and we couldn't use his robot arm at all. RVB really was a great series but it died near the end. hard to keep a show running like that for so long. I still mandate that seasons 1-5 are the best in the series. They capture the perfect blend of story + comedy + outlandish drama, that later seasons never could. that's not to say later seasons of RvB weren't good in their own right, but seasons 1-5 ascend beyond just good. Now, lets get out of this sun, and go stand in the shade.

I'm gonna cut off before the spoilers, because now I'm actually curious enough to go and watch that final season at some point. The weird thing is, I didn't even know there was one. The last thing I saw of RvB was a trailer for... this 3:26... and I saddened by just how far they'd fallen. Figured that was the end of it, and when I heard Rooster Teeth was shutting down after all this time, I didn't really look into it. I was a fan of Rooster Teeth from the very first episode of Red vs Blue. I loved damn near everything they produced for many years, and still would today if I watched it all again. Then there was a point, don't even remember when, that it flipped and started getting worse over time. Was eventually bad enough that I stopped watching anything, and didn't give it any thought. Long while after that, it's going away for good, and I don't even know how much of what was there when I left is still there now. It's a sad thing, to not even care that much about the downfall of something I loved so much back in the day.

I can tell what happened, you can see it start happening after the first couple of seasons, theres no cohesiveness, like as the project got bigger they started to have too many cooks, then it gets worse and worse, and im not even saying that always made it bad but it progressively got worse, they stopped knowing what people liked and got bogged down in all these different ideas, even getting away from the original characters that people were there for and bringing in ones that were drastically different than the originals, there was just no organization or structure to it. They could have simply said "every 5 episodes we will do someone's big idea" and anything that does well they try again next season and slowly work it in rather than doing what seems like entire "idea seasons".

Although I feel like at the end of the day the Season is the way it is due to Rooster Teeth being shut down, I feel like that cut a lot of the potential it had. Which I thought would be cool, I would have continued on & skipped all the crazy dumb stuff. I could tell this was cut & edited for the crunch. But it was still worth it. Of the small things I would have liked to have seen, Carolina actually acknowledging Tex was her Mom, and....okay I was actually kind of shipping Carolina & Washington. Maybe Church's memories would have made it awkward but I don't know. It seems like they were either heading in that direction or at least maybe said they felt like siblings.

I just realized that, they completely scrapped season fifteen. like season 19 takes place nearly directly after the battle for corus, so season 15 never actually happened.

The throw is a call back to one of the previous seasons when Simmons through the thing and Wash commented that it was the worst throw he'd ever seen. It's supposed to be a funny call back, which is why they gave it so much "oh my God is he actually going to try and do this".

If you're reffering to the warthog cable that was doc, not simmons

Meh sounds disappointing. I'll just call the season after they deal with the director of project freelancer as the finale- it's more fitting.

Yeah that's how I view it too, after I watched through the other RvB seasons in high school and afterwards I was just disappointed.

Hey mike donut physically could not be presemt due to halo infinite lacking pink armor schemes rn. The throw was lined up to reference the warthog tow hook throw simmons made to wash that he failed in season 8. The lack of content for lopez is likely due to bernie voicing him and church. He probably didnt have enough time to record for both. And as far as i know donut dies at the end of 17 when he saves the universe anyway. So theres an in universe/out of universe explanation. I know you probably got a flood of comments mentioning all these before but i figured id combine it into one so you can get it all at once. Also the red even simmons being reluctant is likely due to the events of season 13 and the last few seasons where the blues constantly just kept getting into trouble. I grew up with this show. I remember every season. I was pained to watch the last few before restoration. I think this is a great end for a 21 year old show. It sucks they couldnt put aside their differences with the og caboose voice actor to have him comeback for the finale. And the weird intro certainly was jarring. But overall. It was a good goodbye. Something the cast 10 years ago wouldve hated being so final and rigid. Seeing as not saying goodbye was a huge part of the shows larger theme. But it certainly made it good with the fans especially those scorned by the issues at rt after they were sold to WB, the drama inside rt the last 8 years. And the animation department seemingly falling apart in the absence of monty oum. They gave the fans what they wanted. A big old retcon to 14-17, and gave each character a fitting end to their stories. Sarges death by tucker being by far the most significant with the fact its a blue killing him again for real this time. And that it was the old leader finally passing on the torch. Overall. Your opinion on it is great. I feel like as a a lifelong fan. (Im 23. This show was originally released when i was 2. Crazy) it did right by me. And i think thats what they wanted. A sort of apology for the last decade of animation content and their final company closure this year. This isnt just the end of rvb. But of rt, and all their ips. They all get to move on and find new work i hope.

Simmons wasn't the one that threw the cable to wash, that was doc. And a character dying in season 17 is irrelevant to this one because like you pointed out, that season isn't canon to this season

The reason donut was written out from what I can tell is because I didn’t know this, even though I played it all the time halo infinite doesn’t have a pink armor
@blakjewellio14072 ай бұрын
It’s because they changed it from pick your own armor to armor coatings to give them more varied armor pattern, which I’m not really the biggest fan of but it’s there so I don’t really care so long as the game plays fun it’s not halo five

That was a good season. But... Where is DONUT?!

I said it before and I’ll say it again, I kinda wish that Grif and Sarge switched places for their endings. Not because I hate Grif but because it would (at least for my retarded brain) make more sense for their arcs. Grif sacrificing himself after years of pain helping his friends and Sarge getting out after having one of his own die and living a life of peace that Grif couldn’t get.

Season 15 was the one with the second group of simulation troopers and dylan andrews, not the time gods
