The guy who played Sonny is Gerry Wientraub. He is the producer of the film. He also produced Oceans 11+ movies and also played camios in those films. I met him once in Cabo and took him fishing. He was a down to earth no nonsense guy. Unfortunately he has since passed away.

I think he spelled it “Jerry Weintraub”, but in any case, he was memorable as “Sonny Capps” here. He used a deadpan affect to a wonderful comedic result!
