What I find so ABSOLUTELY CRAZY is the fact that these parents literally searched the WORLD looking for their son back in the 1800's BEFORE TECHNOLOGY!!!! That's insane and amazing all at the same time!!

True but I also respect the opinions of people who post less popular cases opinion a lot more when more sensationalized stories do come out too, so it's good to find a balance. I feel like Stephanie Harlowe and Kendall Rae walk that line perfectly. I would love to hear Danielle's take on some more media active stories as well ngl I think it's more about the respect they give victims than the stories:)

Case suggestion. I know I've suggested it before but I guess I'll keep trying because there was a little boy by me by the name of Thomas velva. I don't see anyone sharing his story and it has serious implications. It is a case of severe child abuse and neglect that was recorded by the school system and babysitters and nothing was done. Nothing was done because the primary parent was a police officer. It's also a story of parental alienation. I work down the street from where he died and every day I passed the house where he took his left breath and I still cry every time just a little. Feel free to reach out to me if you need somebody local but his story is severely undercovered and his memory has not been used to protect others like it should. I do want every true crime creator to share it of course but I think it would be especially wonderful if you did because you put such thought and detail and empathy and emotion into each story and that is what is needed. You're also willing to do the research and that might be important in this case. As a fellow homeschooling mama it would be a favor for sure if you could do Thomas valva's story.

Hello, Danelle. Thanks for taking my suggestion by covering this case. It saddens that Charley was never found, even though the the three individuals who were possibly responsible for the crime (two of them were fatally shot and one was charged and convicted). It's highly unlikely Charley's case will ever be solved, but you may never know. Even old cases like 1916 solved disappearance/unsolved murder of Joseph Lovelace were able to solved due to Genetic Geneology. Great video, Danelle. Have a great day.

Hi Danelle! I actually have been waiting for you to post, like always, but when I heard that you’re spending time with your kids I totally get it. Good for you! Anyway this was a really fascinating story. I didn’t know much about it at all. I have heard more about the Lindbergh baby case than this one. How incredibly sad that his parents spent their lives looking for him. I can’t imagine how slow and frustrating the process was back then to try to find him, even now it is hardly easy. Not to be shallow, but on a sidenote that scarf looks really good on you, and it matches your eyes. Anyway good luck with the beginning of school!

Is it possible for you to homeschool other people's children? A lot of women I speak to, want to homeschool their kids but can't or can do it 3 days a week but want help the other days. Some women say "I can't afford a homeschool teacher, but I know three other women with kids that are my kid's age and I wonder if the parents and I could pitch in to pay the teacher and the kids would be taught at one house everyday." Have you ever heard of anything like that? They don't like public schools and they want to extensively interview the teacher to ensure her beliefs are in line with theirs, but I thought it was a great idea and if possible, you should seriously consider doing it!!

I’ve always enjoyed learning about how abducted children cases have been handled & how tactics have developed & evolved over the years. Most people (at least true crime followers like myself) are familiar with the cases of Amber Hagerman, Adam Walsh, the Lindbergh Baby, Polly Klaas, Johnny Gosch, & other super high profile abductions, but I’d never heard of Charley’s case before! This was fascinating, but I do truly feel for the parents, searching their entire lives, literally searching the world (& travel in the 1800’s was obviously very different than it is today) only to pass away without answers, heartbreaking!

Charley actually had 3 sisters and 3 living brothers at the time of his disappearance in 1874. The 2 oldest boys were visiting grandparents at the time. Another brother was born a few years later and died in infancy. This info can be found on find a grave and in Christian Ross's book. According to Christian Ross's own words, he had no issue with the boys accepting candy from the 2 men as long as it was offered to them and they didn't ask for it. He just assumed the men were fond of children and being nice. The father had no weird feeling at all about it.

This was he most fascinating case ever! You have done a fabulous job (as always) with summing up all of this information given the time period. I feel like this is a case that needs to be handed over to CeCe Moore and Parabon Labs to do genetic geneology to find Charly’s descendants!! Wouldn’t that be amazing to link the 2 descendant family’s (Charly’s and his siblings) today!! This could definitely be done with a persistent genealogist and the genetic data based out there now!! Great job Danelle - thanks for bringing this to us. Your channel is a refreshing breath of fresh air compared to all the other true crime drama that seems to be the norm this summer. Thanks for staying true to your values and doing it your way - it doesn’t go unnoticed by the Hallan fam!!💜💜💜 BTW, I don’t know how you keep all the balls in the air between your channel and home schooling your kiddo’s - you are my modern day hero ♥️

Yeah, parents don't want their kids shot. I was always against homeschooling but if I were to ever return to the US I would homeschool my kids, too.
